After researching my lodging options in Phetchaburi I was a little aprehensive. From all the reviews, it seemed like you either stay in a budget place that is super funky or an expensive hotel which drains all your baht. Turns out there are other options, Sabaidee Resort being one of them.
First off, this isn't really a "resort". It is a small guesthouse in the center of town right across the street from the infamous Rabieng Rimnum Guesthouse. It has 3 rooms and three "bungalows" in the back yard. Prices I was quoted were 250 for bungalows, 300 for fan room, and 500 for A/C room.
The low cost bungalows are small funky bamboo huts with paper thin walls and a bed on the floor that takes up most of the space. Luckily they have mosquito nets, but outside of the net you are fair game since the hut itself has no screens. I personally would not stay in these "bungalows", but for someone who justs needs a spot to sleep they are probably fine.
The three rooms are much nicer. All rooms (and huts) are shared bathrooms. Two of the rooms have A/C and one is fan only. I stayed in upper floor A/C room and then moved to the fan room since I didn't need the A/C and the bed in the fan room was soooo much more comfortable. All three rooms are very spacious and clean, but my preference was the two upstairs rooms which are pretty much identical except for A/C and the bed quality (I recommend tryig out the beds in each room as they are all very different). Also, there is good free WiFi.
There is definitely some traffic noise from the street, but it wasn't that bad and I slept just fine. During the day there is also some construction noise from next door, but also not a big deal.
The woman that runs the place is super friendly and helpful. I really liked her. She loves Phetchaburi and seems quite excited to tell people all about it. I have met a lot of friendly Thai people, but she is extra nice and genuine as well. In fact, this woman alone is reason enough to stay here.
So overall I would recommend this guesthouse. It was the best low cost option I could find in Phetchaburi, the rooms are nice, good central location, and the service was excellent.
PS - I rented her white Honda Click motorbike for the two days I was there and it was awesome. I loved that motorbike and didn't want to give it back. It was fast, well maintained, and a pleasure to ride. I have rented over 20 motorbikes while in Thailand and this was my favorite one so far. :)
