“Quiet hotel. Peaceful.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Nice quiet hotel.
To get to town, you will definitely either need to rent a car or get a tuk-tuk.
Bike rents from this street appear to be pricey and given the terrain, not quite advisable.

The ride to town is quite beautiful though, up and down hills and offers a view of the shoreline as you enter the city. There are some cafes/restaurants outside of the hotel, but some of them don't see to open later in the night if you come back late from shopping. There is a mini-mart 7-11.

The hotel is beautiful. We got a private heaven but unfortunately, did not spend any time upstairs on the deck. Simply too busy going into town and occasionally it rained.

The jacuzzi was awesome and I enjoyed the sea view ... but it wasn't as blue as I wished it was.
Bed and pillows were comfy.
Aircon was a bit noisy and some of the wooden furniture looks a bit tired.
When it rained, some parts of the corridors were leaking.
Staff were always smiling ... its beautiful to return to this quiet place to rest and hear the waves from the beach.

Room Tip: If you are wanting to have breakfast or food in the room, pull in the balcony tables and chairs into...

This is a lovely small hotel basically right on the beach. The room is very big though most of the space is wasted and not used for anything. The best thing about the room is the spa tub which was wonderful. The blinds separating the bathroom and room were abit hard to close completely so you could still see in, however when the room was cleaned after the first day this was sorted out. Our room was on the ground floor and directly across the public bridge that goes to the beach. So if you intend to sit on your balcony or have the curtains opened remember you wont have any privacy. There is a limited sea view from this room due to a tree outside but then that is probably there for the privacy, you do hear the sea very clearly. The pool is small but nice, the first 2 days we were there no one else used it so we had it to ourselves but then after that there were other people using it and we felt like we were intruding, and cramped. The rooms are cleaned very well.
The included breakfast is only cereal, toast, muffins and croissants. The eggs are extra 66 baht extra. It was good.
On the hotel road there are many tour operators, massage places and tailors. We bought our tour to James Bond Island from the person across from the entrance of the hotel. There is also a cheap laundry place nearby(the hotel rates are very expensive), there is a 7-11 to the right were you can stock up on supplies. We changed money in Kamala but found the rate to be very bad when compared to Patong, So if you are gona go to Patong rather change your money there. When we needed a taxi we used the guy with the very modern and very new Quantum, when you walk out the hotel turn right and a few steps away.
There are a few restaurants on the beach and on the road, all a short walk. However as this was low season no place was ever busy. Many days we were the only people having lunch or supper in a restaurant.
The beach was nice, very small waves though the shore always had lots of dirt which was annoying.
There were also not many people in the water at any given time. Most we ever saw was probably about 10. There were life guards on duty.
I think if you are looking for something relaxed then Kamala is the place and Layalina is a good choice.

This little hotel in Kamala Beach, is a boutique and cosy place. A nice view of the beach and crossing a litlle bridge you reach the beautiful and peaceful beach of Kamala, from those who likes resting ang good and cheap massages, this is the place!!! Located in the little center, you will have some places to get daily tours, food and some drinks. For my experience is a very good place to stay, near a nice and peaceful beach, and 40 minutes from the marina' s where you get your excursions to Pang Nha Bay, James Bong Island ( absolutely reccomended) and Maya Bay ( lovely place).

Very nice hostel. Too bad the AC was pretty noisy. I had a great time there. The open bathroom is a good idea when you are sharing your room with yourself, but for honey moon or eraly couple it can broke some part of the mystery.
Breakfast was awesome there !

Probably the best located guesthouse/hotel on Kamala beach from the alternatives we saw- right on the beach front and not set back and overlooking the roofs of beach bars and stalls etc like all the others. Walk straight out of the back gate and onto the beach, or out of the front door and into the middle of the bar / restaurants / shopping etc area.

Our room (one which had a balcony and also access to an large and beautiful private roof terrace also overlooking the beach) was modern, stylish, spotlessly clean, bright, spaceous and well equipped. It surpassed all expectations and we were genuinely wondering why this place was no more expensive if not cheaper, than all the other better rated hotels in the area (probably because there is no bar or lunch/evening dining facilities so it doest qualify for the extra stars - although there is room service food available all day).
Staff were efficient and very friendly although communication was difficult as to be expected as they spoke as much English as I do Thai.
Breakfast (included) was perfectly adequate with a decent choice and swift service.
All in all a first class and very well run establishment - highly recommended for those after a beach holiday with a reasonable choice of bars and restaurants for the evenings but not too loud / busy.

Room Tip: Choose a 'private heaven room'- well worth the extra. We spent more time on the roof terrace...

We stayed here in this lovely small hotel for a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The room was spacious and nicely appointed and we had a view of the sea, as promised in the advertising. Breakfast was individually made and, while simple, was delicious. We ordered the previous evening, although we could have ordered a la carte, had we wished. The staff were very pleasant and attentive in all respects. Room facilities were good, with a great spa bath, reasonably comfortable bed and a front balcony (with table and chairs, deck chair and even a hammock!). The free wifi was a bit slower than we would have liked. The pool was lovely. Hotel is right on the beach, which is a pleasant and relaxing change from frantic Patong a fe4w kilometres away. Our Taxi Driver had a little trouble finding the hotel. The Layalina is in a small shopping street with a sprinkling of restaurants and tourist shops.

The entrance from the road would have been a shock however I had read on TA what to expect! The hotel itself is lovely. We stayed in a Heaven Suite so we had our own upstairs terrace with a large sunbed with shade and a shower, which was great. The room itself was large, clean and well equipped.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Since we were arriving late, I emailed them in advance of our trip and they arranged a taxi pick up at Phuket airport for 1000 baht.
The included breakfasts were fab, loads of choice and also the option to eat on your balcony. There's also a la carte breakfasts that you can choose from at extra cost which were also excellent.
It's a 2 minute walk to get to the beach where there are a variety of restaurants and bars. The best by far for us was the Smile 2, about a 5 minute walk from the hotel over the bridge. We ate and drank there for the last 5 days of our holiday!
The hotel is run by Muslims so there is no alcohol. However they are not averse to you bringing your own which you can buy from the 7-11, a 5 minute walk up the road.
The swimming pool is good. There aren't many sun loungers around the pool - there isn't room! We used them for a few days with no problem as I think most people go to the beach.

A point to note. The TA map shows this hotel to be on the other side of Phuket. The hotel's website will show you the correct location.

Room Tip: Go for a Heaven Suite if you don't plan on sunbathing on the beach!
