The value for money is superb, very cheap rates and fantastic rooms. The food was also very good. Although the hotel is not the closest to the water, the price of the room allows for this and then some.

Would recommend this hotel for those who are on a budget and enjoy comfort.

We've been going to Patong for 10 years, staying more than 3 weeks each trip. A few years ago, we decided to do our own research and find an apartment rather than hotel room. It was great to discover Sun Hill Hotel. We stayed for 23 days in the very large 1 bedroom apartment. Very cheap at only 1750bht per night. Modern and spotlessly clean. Our bed was made with a different theme of towels and flowers every day. Very romatic! The kitchen made it possible to prepare our own breakfast and snacks which we like to do when staying so long. The large wrap around balcony was where we spent each evening, before hitting our favourite night spots, watching the comings and goings of the mostly local people in this area. The host, Roman and his staff are excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. We always hire a scooter so the Nanai Rd location was perfect for us, only 5 mins to everything. Only one negative to mention, when we looked at the apartment, it had a fantastic seaview, unfortunately, when we arrived for our stay, a new condo building has blocked this lovely outlook. Don't let this deter you though, the apartmtnet is fabulous and it still has great view over the town and surrounding hills. If you know your way around Patong and don't mind being a little way from the hustle and bustle and tourists, Sun Hill should definately be on your list. They have a great website if you want to see more details.

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, taking advantage of the low season rates. Sun Hill offered a fairly competive rate but I realized later better deals were to had through the Latestays Web site. The hotel is in a good location and its rooms are nicely appointed but its attitude of nickel and diming the guests is offputinng. Sun Hill was eager to arrange airport transportation at an inflated rate. It was offered to me many times - while booking the room via email exchanges and by the receptionists at the front desk. In addition, this may sound petty, but the hotel didn't provide free drinking water. Instead, guests were expected to consume the overpriced mineral water provided in the minibar. This is the first time I have stayed in a hotel in Thailand where free water is not on offer. Most hotels give guests2 free bottles of water and stock the minibar with 2 bottles of mineral water. Sun Hill stocked the minibar with 4 bottles of mineral water

Decided to try Sun Hill after searching many sites for weeks and reading 100s of reviews, I knew we'd chosen the right place when we received our first reply to our booking enquiry. Prompt, professional and efficient. From the moment we arrived to the last goodbye the staff and service was unbelievable. The rooms were cleaned daily including the tiled floors which were washed every day. The front of house staff are amazing - the girls all speak adequate English and seem to anticipate what you need. The restaurant staff are very friendly patient and kind and the food is wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We met the owner Roman and his wife, and they were very hospitable and eager to help with our enquiries about tours and golf trips. SunHill is located a little out of town in a quieter area but a taxi ride into the heart of Patong was 200 baht - tuk tuk and motorbikes were cheaper again. SunHill has the right mix of comfort, service and simplicity without being too big and overpriced. It is perfect for anyone who wants to stay somewhere quiet yet close to the action, affordable with all the vital amenities and with great service. Congratulations to Roman and all the staff at Sunhill - I will be back for sure.

Went out to Phuket for diving and have a few beers with the girls. As far as the latter is concerned the staff proved to be quite tolerant, but they frowned at the "butterfly"...I think...
Obviously there the farang doesn't understand all the ways to show respect.. or disrespect.
So..

Booked this hotel direct after searching on the web for affordable, clean, comfortable accomodation in Patong - and thats exactly what we got! Staff were very friendly and all spoke good English. Trips and activities were arranged for us without any problems and rooms were cleaned daily by very friendly staff - always a "hello" and a smile when we saw them. Mini bar in the room and room service was not overly expensive and the room had a nice view over the small, but adequate pool.

The hotel was a 10 minute walk to Patong beach, which did involve a walk along a hill road which had no path, but this was not an issue for us. Patong beach is very busy, so we preferred to take Taxis to other local beaches such as Karon, Kamala, Surin etc and these journeys were no more than £8 round trip from the hotel.

Very much enjoyed the holiday and would definately recommend to others - thank you Roman and the girls!

FANTASTIC HOTEL. The Sun Hill was my first stop in Thailand and was the best beginning. The women at the front desk are so sweet, smiling, cordial, helpful and speak excellent English. They anticipated my requests and helped in arranging transportation, calling to confirm my day trips, anything I needed. The owner is readily on site & available.

The hotel is neat, clean, rooms are as spacious and appointed as rooms costing 4-5 times more. It is a 150 Baht taxi ride ($5.-USD) to Patong town & beach, takes 5-10 minutes.

The breakfast orange juice is fresh sqeezed and the sweetest juice I have every tasted, The restaurant is delicious, cheap, and they will personalize anything you want.

The downsides? The pool is small. It's a little "out of town" so you really can't walk to the beach or town. But considering the cost savings,it's well worth it!

As I traveled on thru Thailand, the other hotels were big, impersonal, functional. The Sun Hill made you feel at home. Can't say enough nice things, and at about $55 USD a night, in a resort town, cannot be beat!!!

KUDOS to the Sun Hill.
