“Mecure Patong”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2009

Great Location, Superior room with City view. Was excellent..some people suggest the Pool View but to be honest we loved our city view...plus with the pool view you would have to close the blinds unless you want everyone to see you!

Great range at Breakfast...pool was great - always full. Day spa was excellent with excellent massage Therapist. Weena? Wanna? we had a great thai & oil massage from her.

Could not fault the Mecure & would definately stay their again.

We stayed at the Mercure Patong for 8 nights with our 3 kids (16,14 and 11) - we had adjoining, interconnected, rooms on the 6 floor overlooking the pool. The rooms were great for our purposes with the kids each having a proper single bed and not the common add-on trundle that the youngest always gets stuck with. The staff were ultra friendly and all very helpful without being intrusive or pushy. Some learned the kids names and seemed genuinely happy to interact with them. The hotel was spotless and being constantly cleaned. The location was also great for our purposes: one block back from the beach and free from all that bustle. There are two good restaurants one door up and one door down on the same side of the street: Shakers, anything from a burger or pizza to a thai curry - cheap and cheerful: dinner for 5 with drinks and cocktails = AU$42. On the other side is the Oasis, smaller than Shakers, more "clubby" with one computer for free internet in the corner to assist with teenage connectedness withdrawal, and Wii for the younger ones. Again Thai and european food choices, a bit better quality and slightly dearer. Next to the hotel is also a "family mart" with drinks ad snacks at a fraction of hotel prices. Laundry service (at 50baht per kilo) is also available at a kiosk next door. We got some laundry done, returned the next day perfectly washed and ironed. The location is also great because there are lots of shops/stalls in a market area within 5 minutes slow walk. the teenagers were free to roam and do their own negotiating and shopping - as a guide, they got most of what they wanted for about one third of "first price". Only negative comments on the Mercure would be that there are not enough deck chairs around the pool and that some days require people going out at 7.00 am to place towels on chairs to reserve them. Obviously some people miss out. I pressume the assumption is the some guests will always be out on tours or the beach but this did not always work out this way and there was fierce competition. On the subject of food: breakfast buffet (included in our deal) was great but other meals were quite pricey and we preferred to eat in the many restaurants around the area: indian, thai, italian and even german (why you would want to have a schnitzel in Phuket I do not know!!). We were also there for Songkran, the Thai New Year and the biggest water fight I have ever seen. Great fun and the hotel front wall provided good cover whilst the pools in the front garden supplied ample water for fightback.

We stayed at Mercure Patong for 2 nights over the Thai new year. This place is a ferfect 4 star hotel, clean rooms great pool and bar. The design of the hotel allow every room to face the pool, which is beautiful. We enjoyed watching the soccer on Saturday night with 2 for 1 drinks during the game. Hotel is in a great location, a street back from the main beach rd, with lots of street vendors and market.

We stayed at Mercure patong during January 2009. Luckily, we got the room at 6th floor. The hotel's atmosphere is quite good and we have privacy and conveniece a lot eventhough it is not 5 star hotel. The price is reasonable. The room is clean and functional. Additionally, breakfast is very impressive-- there were a lot of kinds of food.
We think if we visit Patong Phuket next trip, we will choose MercusrePatong again.

My boyfriend and I stayed for 6 nights from 17-23 March and we got everything we expected and more. I requested a top floor apartment overlooking the pool and a quiet room and thats just what we got. We were welcomed at reception by smiling receptionist and a welcoming drink...just what we needed after a whole day travelling.

Got to our room and they had even made a love heart out of the flowers on the bed.
What you see in the photos about the rooms are what you get. They are all decorated the same and are serviced daily. Very modern with good pressure in the showers. They even give you two bottles of water daily. I must agree with some of the comments previously that wifi is expensive in room but its convienent.

We opted to have room only, I wouldn't pay 400 baht for breakfast when there are so many other places around. We found a great place down a side street off the main drag we got 2 full american breakfasts with drinks for 300 baht. If you are looking for somewhere local and cheap to drink just go into the OTOP markets and go to the bars in there...i recommend the Tiger Bar they love aussies and you get to play connect 4 and jenga for drinks....you'll see when you get there.

Some people may disagree with me here but I believe this property is in one of the best locations. It away from the hustle and busle of Bangala road but you can walk there in about 10 minutes. You have the OTOP markets a 2 minute walk away and the beach about 500 meters, really very close. If you were to stay near Bangala Road it would be very noisy and non stop hassling, where Mercure is you get away from it all and can relax.

They have the pool on ground floor with pool bar which is a bit over priced but they do good cocktails, and a rooftop pool as well. i found that the pool on ground floor didnt get much sun in the afternoon so just go up to floor 6 and you have the rooptop pool and there is a bar up there too if you fancy a cocktail. Great views from up there too.

I did my research on places to stay and this is by far the best value. If you are travelling in low season call them for a cheaper rate - dont pay full price. I am a reservations agent so I got a cheap industry rate but I know that you can talk them down.

The beds were pretty hard but you can ask them for a comfort layer to be put on the bed. One thing I did like was they had insence burning down the corridors so it was always smelling nice. They even made the ashtrays look nice by putting the Mercure symbol in the sand...you see it when you stay there.

All in all I give this property 5 out of 5.

We (2 couples) stayed at the Mercure Patong in March 2009 for 6 nights with breakfast included in a pool view room. Everything about the hotel was great from the welcome drinks at reception to the baggage handlers at checkout.
Everything was a positive experience from the pools and 3 happy hours (yes 3!), breakfast buffet to the great massages in the spa and excellent staff service.
Would recommend this place to anyone travelling to Patong.

Stayed there between march 15th-24th 09.
Great hotel and great location to patong night life and patong markets.
The only issue i had was we arrived early to hotel and were not allowed to check in until 2pm! and even then room was still not available till 3.30pm!!!!
Staff are very friendly and most helpfull but there english is limited.
Hotel has great pool, ground floor and 6th floor if u want to get away for some peace and quiet. Room serivce is quiet good.
Wifi available but expensive! go for a drink at shakers its free!
Opted not to have breakfast included in my hotel package, but dnt worry there is a place called Shakers to left of hotel that serves good american style breakfast and its cheap!
There are also heaps of small places to accomodate ur brekfast needs.
If ur looking for a good Italian meal there is a place called La Dolce vitta just opposite shakers (In Lane Way) you cant miss it and its managed by an Italian family. Food is exceptional and traditional italian food. Service is a little slow but worth the wait!
Hotel security is good! and rooms are quite nice and fresh.
Keep an eye out for buffet dinners being offered during the week, each day has a theme.. eg Tues Kebab, Wed Seafood.. etc
Dont bother changing over ur money at hotel exchange rate is poor, you will get better rates at exchange booths located every where along street.
Hotel is quite close to patong market only 5 minutes walk and around 30 minutes to Patong!!! thats where the nightlife is and all the fun!!!
If your single and travelling with the boys.. try Tiger Bar you will have some fun!
And for the single guys who decide to bring a local back to there room for some TLC be prpared to pay a 1500BHT guest fine, we saw alot of that happening at night while having a drink at foyer, quite funny!!!
Well to sum up Mecure Patong Hotel... EXCELLENT!!!
If you can afford to stay there... GO FOR IT!
