“4 star value !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2008

We have just came back from Mercure on middle of July 2008. Their services are excellent and it is a wonderful hotel. Overall, we do enjoy our stay in Mercure. The staff are friendly and helpful as well. We had a 4d/3n stay at Mercure and we enjoy most of the time in the hotel. Location are great as you can find lots of shops, massage parlour, spa, shopping center and restaurant along the road.

For reservation, if possible, booked thru the Accor website. They do give a great deals and it is a reliable site for booking. Airport transfer offered by the hotel is slightly expensive than getting the airport taxi. No worries on transportation as you arrived. The airport have lots of airport transfer service available.

Check in process are fast but our room has not been ready due to high occupancy during the period. Just walk around and back in an hour time. One great thing we like is we were being informed on all available services in the hotel and the exact location of it. With this we are aware of the facility available without going to explore ourselves.

We love the rooms. It was spacious, clean, modern and equiped with all amenities. You can find slippers, umbrella, coffee facilities, tv and etc inside the room. Try to get a pool view room as it do give you a wonderful view. We really appreciate that the hotel do provide 2 big umbrellas. We have been making used of it day and nite as it was a rainy season throughout our stay. For the bed, it is comfy but the bed is a normal queen size bed rather than the king size bed as mentioned.

There's a kids room available on the ground floor. A small room but enough for a small kids to entertain themselve there. There are video games, story books and other games available.

The Venus Spa is not bad. The staff are professional and the price is not expensive either.

The pool is wonderful. It is big enough for everyone. There's a small jacuzzi pool and pool bar as well.

Do check out for the free activity daily at the hotel. Eg, there are yoga session, scuba diving, aquatic yoga, introduction to spa and etc offered by the hotel daily.

Right next to Mercure is the famous Patong OTOP market whereby you can find lots of souvenier, t-shirts, handicraft and bars. Dont' forget to bargain if you need to buy any stuff as the price offered are pretty expensive. If can, try to buy it from the shopping center. There's 1 big shopping center called Jungceylon along Mercure. Just 10 mins walk along the shops. Advisable to walk around the area if can as the transportation are rather expensive along patong area. One good advice, the tuk tuk price and taxi price are same.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2008

I booked directly with the hotel which was very helpful. We stayed in the July school holiday period in a suite on the 6th floor which had a bedroom and separate lounge/dining room which had plenty of space, home theatre and walk in wardrobe and extra large bathroom. The floor space size was the same as 2 superior rooms for $164 per night including breakfast for 2 adults and 1 child and taxes.

The pool area was beautiful and very clean, with plenty of loungers. The kids club was supervised 80% of the time with very friendly and playful staff for our 6 year old. We were not expecting any supervision so this was a bonus and the room was located just beside the pool area so we could laze around the pool and just peer in the window to check also. Our child loved it there so much we had trouble dragging him from the kids club and pool to go to the beach!

The breakfast was excellent and again service could not be faulted, same with housekeeping having a turndown service with fresh flowers each night. The Venus Spa is also reasonably priced offering 20% discount for guests. The other bargain is the Sun Bar 2 for 1 happy hour with cocktails for 195 baht, food there is also great for a shared lunch after such a large breakfast! The family mart next door to the hotel is great for drinks and snacks which you can also take to the pool. Room service is also 24 hours.

Check in and out was flawless although we were sad to leave and will be back. The hotel may not be as resort styled as the Holiday Inn but much cheaper, less crowded and quieter in a good location next to the O Top markets.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2008

My wife and I stayed at the Mercure for 13 nights 5 April until 18 April.

Previously we had stayed at the Holiday Inn across the Road but prices have seemed to have risen in Patong over the last few years so we decided to give the Mercure a go after considering a couple of other similar priced hotels (BaanThai, Burasari), and I must say I'm pleased we did so.

Check in was smooth, and our room faced the pool on the 6th flr. I've rated a number of hotels in Asia on this site and usually I'm fussy but I will say right now that I'm not going to be too hard on this hotel considering how cheap it was for our stay we paid $1150Aus (Room Content) for the 13 nights (10pay/3 free) including B/Fast which worked out at $88Aus per night for two people, so five stars for value as we had stayed at Busakorn in Hliday Inn in Dec 2006 for @$280 per night. (Would have been $3640) so $2500 better of already...

Lets cut to the chase, remember this place is fairly cost effective (Cheap) compared to some (5 Star hotels);

Great selection no awards but no complaints either sometimes a bit noisy like an eatery but always "part of the journey" isn't it..

Large, water seemed OK didn't effect my eyes like other reviewers but could just be my eyes. Moon Bar pool was felt like an addition too deep and too small, and yes slow service here compared to below pool bar (Sun Bar)

Excellent, much cheaper than other hotels and very professional we both had a Japanese HANAKO facial and whilst I still look like an old drunk vagrant afterwards it still managed to improve my weathered face... At least for a little while...

Ok, but I like Gyms, not too busy but if your'e serious hit one of Patong' s Gyms for a proper work out, Just remember to put your Heineken down between sets...

Ok very veryb nice, only little gripes. No alarm clock, strange glass screen between shower and bedroom, luckily a screen can be pulled down but if your a light sleeper get used to the room lighting up as screen is translucent, when your partner needs to "visit the amenities" . Their may be some noise from the hallway or other rooms or whatever, so just drink more !.... No it's OK I didn't get woken up and I am a light sleeper.

We didn't do the bars or restaurants at the hotel as we headed into Patong Central most nights, but I can say that I timed my walk to Bangla Road/Jungceylon after reading some reviews and it took about 14 minutes taking it easy and was about 8 minutes walk to Patong Beach

Give this hotel a go If you don't want to get ripped off, Mercure felt more secure to stay at and I have already recommended this hotel to friends back home...
