“Great fun and a good way to fill a day in Patong”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

Pum's cookery classes are great fun and with a limit to the activities you can do in Patong, a great way to spend a day. Pum also runs a restaurant of the same name and the classes are taught in the open air kitchen of the restaurant, which is small but really clean. Numbers are generally limited to four, probably because of limited space in the kitchen, but it means you get plenty of personal attention and it feels a bit more friendly.

Pum's classes are easy, relaxed and fun. If you're a serious cook who regularly makes Thai food and you're hoping for some depth, this may not be the right class for you. You start by choosing 3 dishes to make from Pum's cookery book. Most dishes will be familiar - Green and red thai curry, panang curry, fish cakes, phad thai, tom kha gai etc. You're then taken through a learn, cook, eat, learn, cook, eat process. Learning about the ingredients, cooking the food and then eating before you start again.

Everything is incredibly relaxed, there's no pressure, yet remarkably the food we cooked looked and tasted pretty good. You cook in twos (quickly) and somehow it's all made to feel incredibly easy. I'm pretty certain when I try again at home it won't be quite as easy, nor taste quite as good.

I highly recommend.

“Very rude, don't pay in advance”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

We signed up and paid in advance for the cooking class, as Pum demanded. The next morning, we had a business emergency that called for us to leave Phuket before the class. We asked for a refund, but Pum was condescending and *very* rude and did not agree to refund even a partial amount, although there were more than 1.5 days before the class. I simply dislike doing business with such people.
My advice, don't pay in advance.

Ashery.

I am very sorry that you were forced to cancel your trip but as with any tour operator we must respect all those that wish to learn with us. We have very limited spaces on our classes so cancellation at such short notice means that others who would like to learn do not get the opportunity to. Our terms and conditions are clear and written on your booking slip. They read as follows:

'Cancellations within 4 to 10 days of course commencement will incur a 50% cancellation fee, between 0 and 3 days will incur a 100% cancellation fee. Refunds are at the discretion of Pum Thai Food Chain Co.,Ltd'

Cancelling your trip within 1.5 days is clearly late notice and we are unable to provide a refund. Normally in this circumstance we will try and help to move your booking to another day but this depends largely on whether you are available and whether or not we are fully booked.

I hope this clears the misunderstanding.

“An absolute must in Phuket...if u r interested in Thai food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

Group of five with Pum, herself. Amazing, energetic, and impressive in so many ways. Made several dishes, then ate them with the group. Incredible what she and her staff can teach within a short time. Great way to spend Christmas Eve. Can hardly say enough good things about the experience. They understand their clientele and want to teach about Thai food. The prices are reasonable for the experience.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

My family and I recently did the "little Shoes" cooking program with Pum's and had an absolute ball. Nam, our tutor for the evening is very funny and very enthusiastic in teaching Thai cookery. We were four novices (our two Teenagers aged 14 and 19 included) with no experience created some of the best Thai food that we had ever tasted and it's so easy when you know how!
