“We would go back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2011

My partner and I booked the Graceland via our Travel Agent.
We booked the Deluxe Pool view Room. The room was clean and overlooked the pool however the palm trees growing very close to the balcony blocked any view that might have been there. We were also directly above the Pool Bar which played music most of the day and as with modern music all you could hear was - thump thump thump
Breakfast was good with an excellent selection of dishes. People were friendly and helpful.
There is a courtesy bus that takes you to a shopping centre in Phuket Town if you wish to take advantage of it, however Jungceylon is a much better shopping centre.
I have been to Phuket several times now and find that generally beds are rock hard however Graceland beds were softer than most.
We ate at the resort once and the food was Ok however you get better value outside the resort at the small eating places.
Generally its a nice place to stay but if you want a pool view you need to be in the southern block to get any view at all. It was good to have the pool as the beach is not good at that time of year.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

This was my 4th trip to Patong but first stay at Graceland. I thought it was fantastic. The rooms were spacious, clean and well furnished. The bathroom was big, clean and reasonably modern, only complaint was the lack of shower pressure. Also, like other reviews said, the bed was as hard as a rock, but wasn't too bad. It was really quiet in our room at night.
The grounds of the resort were great. Lovely pools, although the top pool was relaxing it felt like it was lacking something... it was a nice change from the lower pool though which is full of kids and sometimes rowdy youths at the swim up bar. Plenty of shade around the pool, nice views of the ocean.
The resort is probably a little bit too far away from most of the action, but wasn't too bad. It had its benefits. Don't be afraid to try the BBQ chicken on the corner near the hotel (beach side), or the Pancakes from the street vendor out the back of the hotel - both delicious!!
The resort put on a fantastic function for New Years Eve - good fun and fantastic food. It was all really well done.
We had pretty good service overall, even though they weren't the friendliest Thai people I've met. We were travelling with family who had young kids, and they happily moved them from a top floor room to a ground floor room (safety).
Didn't eat at the restaurants so can't comment, but buffet breakfast was very good.
Overall, great resort for a decent price.

We had two very clean, beautiful rooms with pool and oacen views. The Thai cooking class is a must !! The breakfast was wonderful every morning, heaps to choose from.
Perfect location, not very far from all the shopping. Only should pay 100 baht to get form one end to the other. confirm price before getting in. But an easy walk also.
Great savings to be had, bargian down prices by two thirds and go from there. Always get them to give you a price first. The local people love it when you can say hello and thank you in Thai, so easy to do.
Room sevice was delivered quickly and all staff were very friendly.
Cheaper drinks and food to be found outside resort, but sitting by the pool bar having a drink is worth it. Staff happy to take photos for you.
As I had read a lot of negative comments on this site, I was so very pleasently surprised that it was all wonderful. The grounds around the resort are beautiful and so well kept.
Friendly people frienly place.
Will definitely go back !

The resort itself is large, very nicely appointed and the staff seem friendly enough. We booked far in advance and as we were travelling with our young children booked a family suite. Our suite overlooked a construction site with heavy construction going on during the day, there was no view of the pool or the ocean which we were promised. The room when we arrived was full of mosquitoes and smelt dank and mouldy. When we awoke the next morning our kids and ourselves were covered in mosquito bites, and the room had flooded from either a leak in the roof or a leak in air conditioning. There was 2-3cm of bad smelling water covering about 1/3 of the room. Not to mention the springs comining through the mattresses of both beds. We checked out after only one night, we had booked to stay for 6.

The quality of the rooms varies significantly.
Stayed here in 2008 in a room facing inwards to the pool area. The stay was excellent.
Booked as a superior room we apparently had a delux room.
Returned in November 2010 and the superior room we were allocated was facing outward overlooking the construction site next door. Also the room was smaller than the rest. After a complaint at reception we were offered another room without a belcony, When we complained that at an earlier stay we had a much better room a more adequate room but still outward looking room was found.
Bewarned only the delux rooms have a view over the internal courtyard with the pool. Any other rooms are substandard and your stay will be crappy.
As for the breakfasts they have a large array and lots of it but the quality is very average. We stayed at lower rated places in Patong with superior breakfast food than supplied here. Rather poor given the pompous nature of the place. Also the dining room is barely able to cope with the crowd.
If you choose your room carefully and are not very particular about the breakfast food quality you will enjoy this place if not then your stay will be compromised to a poor experience.

It was with great trepidation after reading some reviews on this website that we were about to ripped off on our first overseas holiday. Those whingers who had a bad time must have been staying at Gracelands Memphis!!!

From the moment of arrival we were given cool refreshing coconut drinks. After a short check in process we were escorted to our room (2834) Deluxe Pool View. I agree with other posts about the bellboys who wanted $20AUD tips for carrying our one bag (the other lost in transit) was a bit rich, he had to settle for $5.

Our room was excellent, 2nd floor with perfect views of the magnificent gardens, pool and surf. I have nothing but great things to say about the staff, my 8 year old was befriend by "the crew" his mates at the bottom pool. Each day they taught him new Thai words and phrases which became very handy throughout Phuket. The phrases and greetings used by our son got us many smiles and compliments from locals.

The breakfast of our morning was excellent. The tip is get up early, enjoy a walk on the beach and a less crowded dining room. The whole time wew were there we did not have to wait for a table in any case.

Tuk Tuks were 100bht to and from Jungceylon, if they want more walk away some other driver will jump at the fare. I liked Gracelands location in relation to Bangla Road and our family enjoyed the walk soaking up the unique atmosphere.

After two days (we stayed for 10) my wife and I began plans to return again in 2011. I can't wait 11 months to go. All in all I believed we had excellent value for money and were treated like royalty.

A smile and a 'sa-wat dee khrab' (Hello) opened plenty of doors. Get our room ready we are coming back!!
