“Needs updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2011

We have been going to Phuket each year for approx 8 years, prior to our stay at Graceland we stayed in either the Merlin Beach Resort or Kathathani resort which are both first class and highly recommended.
This year we decided to try a new resort and chose Graceland as it was listed as four star and was only a few years old, to say we were disappointed with our selection would be an understatement, reasons as follows:
- No real welcome or someone to take us to our room and explain the amenities.
- We ordered a Deluxe room for our stay, the room we got appeared to be a standard room, when I went down to reception to suggest that maybe we had been allocated a wrong room I was informed it was a deluxe room.
- The room it self appeared old and dingy, the walls needed painting, the shower was slow and complicated with no instructions on use, there was no introduction manual in the room to explain what was in the room, the hotel amenities etc.
- Each morning we would wake up with bites resulting in us having to purchase insect spray to fumigate the room (we were advised on our last day that they would be fumigating all rooms next day)
- Breakfast could only be described as below expected standards, the eggs were pre-cooked and cold, the bacon could more be described as burnt leather.
Maybe we have been spoilt by the previous resorts we stayed at. however it has the potential of being just as good if it updated its standards and were more customer focused.

We've just returned from 10 days at Phuket Gracelands and loved every minute. My husband and I travelled with our 4 children aged 14, 17, 19 and 21 and we all were very impressed by the resort. Everything was very clean, the staff incredibly friendly and helpful - even when I called at midnight to get new beach towels for the next day, someone had them to our door in 5 minutes. We were very busy every day shopping, white-water rafting, elephant riding, trips to James Bond Island etc - but on our slower days, the upper pool at Gracelands (the Sky Pool) was our favourite. The resort was 98% full, but we never had a problem getting some sun beds and the pool was so large that you never felt crowded.
As other reviews stated - Bangla Road is only a short walk, which we did every day to visit our tailor, or try out new restaurants or shop.
Don't miss going to Fantasy at Kamala (the next Beach north) - it was an amazing experience - like a giant theme park. We paid extra for the First Class Dinner - which was a very special treat for us all. The most sumptuous seafood buffet, served in a golden room - where you would expect royalty to dine. I think it was about $30 extra - but the kids have been talking about it ever since. The show was spectacular.
Also visit the night markets in Phuket Town on Saturday or Sunday nights - the prices are ridiculously low. We'll definitely be returning - Gracelands is a very special and memorable experience.

Room Tip: A balcony is great to have to sit or dry your wet clothes. Our room overlooked the front carpark and...

This is a great Thai owned resort for families. It has excellent security, crisp clean white sheets, comfortable beds and really spacious rooms. The resort is very clean and the gardens and pool areas are beautiful. The buffet breakfast is a feast, breakfast is served till 10 am so go later, then you won't need lunch, honestly its an amazing breakfast. Room attendants are just lovely, breakfast and security staff are friendly and helpful but I can't say that about the female receptionists at the front lobby, the girls are rude and unhelpful. My sister and I really tried to be friendly and we just got the cold shoulder from them. We only asked them for help if we really needed to. We found that the bell boys were more friendly and helpful when we asked for directions or if we need something within the hotel. But don't let that stop you from enjoying the resort. My sister and I loved listening to the live piano man playing and singing. The resort is at the quieter end of Patong beach but within walking distance of all the shopping areas. We used the local bus which is much cheaper and more comfortable than the tuk tuks when we visited old Phuket Town. You'll all have to go, my sister are going back to get more crowns done at Patong Smile Dental Clinic for a quarter of the price you would pay here in NZ.

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor and we had easy access to the 2nd pool on the third floor it was perfect fo...

We stayed 12 nights at Gracelands and really enjoyed it there. The staff were friendly, the breakfast buffet had an amazing choice, the pool, the gardens.....just beautiful....and just cross the road to a fab beach, relax in the lounger with plenty of shopping opportunities. The whole complex was well set out, a gym and even a bowling alley. It was in an excellent location, about 10mins to walk to bangla rd. I would definately stay there again but would make sure I had a pool view room

Hotel was ok and the staff were generally pleasant. Rooms were clean. Hotel is of a good standard when compared to other hotels in Thailand. Didn't enjoy the breakfast buffet but this was not the fault of the hotel. As it is a large hotel generally frequented by Australians, they are normally impolite and greedy when it comes to eating especially when is all you can eat..... So this turns breakfast into a bit of a circus. I am Australian myself so am qualified to make such comments. Felt ashamed with the behaviour of my fellow countrymen...... If you can get over that then its worth staying at this hotel.

We have just returned from an 8 night stay at the Graceland Resort in Patong and had THE best time! This resort is in a great location being only a 10 min walk to the main action in and around Bangla Road but far enough away for a bit of peace and quiet.

When we arrived at the resort we were allocated a room over looking the construction works (which was completely our fault as did not book a pool view room) but we went to reception and asked if there was any possiblility that we could be moved to a room with a better veiw and they were so accomodating, the receptionist said if we could stay in that room for just one night, they could move us to a pool view room the following day which they did, our new room had a gorgeous view of the pool and garden area and was cleaned every day. Fresh bed sheets and towels were also changed on a daily basis.

We did not experience any of the bad comments made by others, the staff couldnt do enough for us, there was always plenty of smiles etc whenever we walked in or out of the resort.

Both pools were gorgeous although we didnt use them much, we spent most of the time on the beach across the road! Two sun loungers and an umbrella cost 180 THB a day which was so cheap, the boys managing the loungers brought us drinks when requested (at very reasonable prices, 20 THB for water and 40 THB for a coke, sprite or fanta and beers and cocktails varied from 70 to 90 THB) and made sure our loungers were brushed down of sand frequently and our umbrellas were moved throughout the day to keep us in the shade, they too couldnt do enough for us! On our last day we tipped each of the boys 100 THB and they were ever so grateful! What is only a few $$ to us means so much to them!

Overall we had an amazing stay at Graceland and would recommend it to anyone thinking of going to Patong Beach....we will definitely be returning next year, I cant wait!!!

Room Tip: Book a pool view room to avoid any disapointment with views from the balcony, we were very lucky tha...
