I stayed in this hotel between 15th and 19th March inclusive. I think this is a very very mean hotel. The first surprise was that you have to buy the adapters (l50 baht each but 25 only in the street) and mosquito repellent provided in the rooms (30 baht/piece whilst I got 20 pieces at 60 baht from a supermarket). The addapters are almost a must for the guests nowadays and I have always been provided free of charge in hotels in Phuket and elsewhere.
And on the very first day of my stay, I broke the clay bath liquid soap dispenser. All liquid soap was gone as the bottom was detached. But the breakage was not visible unless you take it up. According to a list, it would cost 450 baht. Ok, as many others might do, I leave it in a corner, hoping that the housekeeping lady would not discover. I used the little soap bar in the bathroom. This dispenser and the shampoo dispenser remained in the same positions throughout my stay. Hence I thought no one had discovered it. But when I checked out, the receiptionist presented a note dated 16th (the second day of my stay), asking me to pay for the broken dispenser. I asked then why they did not replace it with a new one if they discovered it as soon as the 16th. Her reply was because they could not find me so that I was not given that note to sign for return of a replacement. This was rubbish of course as I saw the cleaning woman around after the morning swimming except the 16th. No one ever cared to give me a call or leave me a note. OK, it's fair to charge me as I broke it, but it's unfair for them not to replace it as soon as they found out.
Phuket is my favourite. This was my fourth visit in six years. I won't revisit the Blue Marine as it is the meanest four-star I have ever seen.
