“Wonderful Resort & Fantastic Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

We have just returned home after 8 fabulous nights at the Thara Patong Resort, this being our second stay there in 12 months. Our group consisted of 2 couples and one single.
Upon our arrival we were greeted like long lost friends, complete with a big hug from Nui on reception.(He is absolutely adorable) All of the reception staff made us feel very welcome, and we were promptly given the keys to our rooms. We were delighted to have been allocated the same rooms that we had last year and it felt like coming home, very welcoming indeed. The 3 rooms were absolutely spotless and well stocked with complimentary toiletries etc and all rooms at this resort have great balconies overlooking well maintained pools (3) and tropical gardens. There is free WiFi to all rooms and we had no trouble at all getting connected with using our i Pads.
The Hotel is ideally located with a short 2 minute walk from our room to the Beach, a 2 minute walk to shops/ markets, Tuk Tuks and 3 minute walk to 7/11 stores (2 very close). Well stocked pharmacy just 2 minutes walk.
The Hotel is very quite and great for families or couples and for singles there is Bangla Road with heaps of nightlife just a short easy 5 minute walk away. The Hotel is very well located, but without the hustle and bustle of other Hotels. Outside the Hotel is very busy, but within the Hotel grounds is like an oasis. Lush tropical grounds surround the 3 pools, plenty of sun lounges available throughout our stay and never had to fight for a spare poolside lounge.
We ate lunch a couple of times at the Poolside Bar (each serving consisted of 2 large shish kebabs, chips, coleslaw) for just THB 150 ( AUS $4.50 approx). Large meal and excellent value.
The breakfast selection was great, plenty of crispy bacon, eggs cooked to order, fresh fruits, cereals, pancakes, tomatoes, sausages, plenty of Asian style dishes, fruit juice, good selection of breads, danishes etc. We never had a problem getting a vacant table for 5 each day. Coffee was strong and hot.
We ate several nights at the Pizzeria restaurant, enjoying mainly Thai/ Asian style dishes (and a Pizza one night), wonderful service, great food and always a warm smile from the lovely Waraporn at the restaurant. Prices are very reasonable and certainly represented great value for money. The desserts there were luscious.
The tropical gardens and sparkling pools are a real credit to the staff who were always busy behind the scenes, ensuring the resort grounds and pools were spotless.
The rooms are very comfortable, quiet and well set out. The shower in our bathroom could quiet easily have fitted a family of 6 in one go. The air con was quiet and worked very well. The bed was firm but comfy.
The lovely housekeepers (Wilawan and Dousina) did a wonderful job, making our hand towels into origami
animals, swans, dog, elephants, rabbits etc and scattered our bed with beautiful rose petals. It was certainly a wonderful gesture and made our room look lovely. We certainly felt like valued guests.
The main thing that set this Resort apart from others that we had previously stayed in Phuket was that the staff all seemed to be smiling and happy. Nothing was ever too much bother. They always returned a smile with smile.
We will definitely be returning to this resort again in the near future

Thara Patong is in a great location on Patong Beach. It is a 1 minute walk to the beach.
It is only a 4 minute walk to Bangla Road. We found a bar & people watched. Its a fascinating street at night.
There are market stalls everywhere and everyone is very friendly (especially if you have been there for a week)
The rooms were great & we found the staff to be really good.. We went with 2 families and had a great time.
Patong Beach isnt the cleanest of beaches to swim in. So we mostly swam in the wonderful hotel pools (there are 2) or took a Tuk Tuk to Karon Beach (400 Baht)
The breakfast was actually very good. Its quite a large buffet style breakfast with cereals, fruit, thai meals, eggs, toast, pancakes etc
We would definately stay at Thara Patong again

Stayed 5 days at Thara in Feb 2013 with my 5 kids and the eldest daughter's boyfriend. I have now stayed at 3 resorts in Patong, Gracelands last year, then the Thara 4 nights and the Banthai 6 nights this year. Even though this was the cheapest of the lot, we liked this one the best. The only complaint I could have was the beds were hard (a few Changs soon remedied this), We had 3 deluxe rooms overlooking one of the pools, fantastic. These rooms were spacious compared to the other resorts I stayed at. I reported that our fan wasn't working in our room (not that I was that fussed, the aircon was great.) It was fixed an hour later. Great service. The reception staff are by far the friendliest I have come across in Patong...the manager and staff actually seemed to be enjoying themselves and were eager to answer any questions we had, and always with a smile. The breakfast was great, as were the other two resorts. The gardens were well maintained and the pools were fantastic and in pristine condition...I seriously think the Banthai should get a lend of the Thara's pool cleaner. Location is terrific, close to everything, 2 minute walk to the beach and shopping right outside your door. And their happy hour is not to be missed...it goes for THREE hours, and drinks are HALF price. Not like the Banthai's happy hour which actually goes for an hour..and is a paltry 20% off...and it is in the lobby. Who wants to drink in the lobby? The Tharas drink prices have tax and service charges included, and are still cheaper than the other resorts. Can't beat sitting at the bar drinking half price drinks watching the younger kids having a ball in the pool. And their pool bar lunch specials are awesome. Two big shaslicks, chips and salad for 120 Baht..half the price of the other resorts and yum as. And there were no yobbos at this resort (apart from us), unlike the Banthai which reminded me of a version of Jersey Shore. So the Banthai had yobbos, the Thara had Russians (fun lot those guys!!). I can live with that. So if you are looking for great value for money, friendly service, comfortable rooms (get bed toppers if you can), great location, fantastic pools and gardens and cheap drinks, you cannot go past this place. I'm going back next year!!

Room Tip: We had deluxe rooms overlooking the pools, fantastic. We were obviously at the right end as I have n...

Having stayed before, we knew what to expect. We had booked the deluxe room but were all full so were upgraded to the Premier Room. The rooms are nice but tired. The beds were rock hard so sleep was a problem. Whenever you try and ask housekeeping anything or say Hello they are very rude & just look at you, give you a bad look, say something in Thai & walk away :-(
We love the pool area as there is 2 but the russian tourist have taken over the hotel so they go & put their towels on all the good chairs then disappear until 3 or 4pm. This caused the hotel to put a policy were you could only have 1 towel ea, as they were putting 4 down so no-one sat beside them.
The food was great in the restaurant so we ate there several times and the singers were FANTASTIC!! They sang songs in several languages & you could understand all the words. The female staff that worked at b/fast were rude and would yell at ea other in thai when you asked for a cup of tea or coffee so pretty soon most of the guests just got there own.
At b/fast i got sick of all the Russians taking ever cake (no exaggeration) and putting it in their bags for later, so i complained and as the staff didnt understand me, thought i was complaining about them & tried to tell me off!?!? They wouldnt help me SO i told the guest off myself. Some staff did say that the russians were a big problem & they were sick of them.
The male staff at Dinner & some mornings were lovely but when we go again in 2 years, we wont be staying there again. We will go there for dinner though. Its also a good location

Room Tip: Try and get a Premier room or Deluxe as they are at the back of the hotel and are quiet.

My son and I celebrated our birthdays while in Phuket. On both days the hotel surprised us with a birthday cake and a personalised card so we had a cake and candles to blow which we appreciated very much! Well maintained swimming pools and great spa facilities - jets were strong. The swimming pools are huge! Staff were nice and helpful and rooms well maintained. We got upgraded and we did get our request for a room with a pool view.
Hotel is centrally located and not too far from jungceylon which is a big shopping centre with lots of eating places inside and outside. I felt safe walking back to hotel all by myself at 10pm. While it is busy outside as soon as you enter the hotel premises, you forget how busy and noisy it is outside.

Room Tip: We had a room with a view of Dolphin pool

Great location near Bangla Road, nice balconys facing the poo and good rooms. But avoid the restaurant: first time my Singha was frozen to ice and the staff didn't do anything about it since they didn't understand English/didn't want to. Next time I ordered Greek Salad but instead of Feta-cheese I got Brie-cheese. The staff seemed to thing "Whatever cheese should work" since they were out of Feta but failed to tell me when ordering...

Room Tip: Try to get a room as high up as possible to avoid most of the hazzle around the pool
