“OK! But could be better!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2012

The Banthai We had been looking forward to visiting for quite a while, On Paper and on the Website this place looks amazing and surprise surprise on the outside it is amazing. Its clean and modern and really looks great. At check in we were escorted to the arrival lounge and given a icy cool drink and a cool towel. The Customer service was fairly poor due to the staffs inability to speak english well. We had originally booked the Deluxe Pool Room, But were advised that they were booked out of these rooms and we would be upgraded to a suite for the duration (it seemed that several other people had the same issue, It almost seemed that if you had booked the room at a discounted rate that you were pushed aside to make room for more full paying holiday makers)
One of the staff then showed us the suite we would be staying in (not that we had much of a choice) after much discussion we had agreed to stay in the suite for 2 nights then change to the Deluxe Pool Room (this was kinda hard to negotiate as the language barrier was quite large). The Suite was on level 3 and was spotlessly clean and very modern. it featured a Kitchenette, a Balcony overlooking the pool and pool bar. 2 Plasma TV's Free internet Via the TV and free WiFi. (The internet was poor at best struggling to load the google homepage)
and a free espresso machine. In my opinion this would be the room to stay in at the Banthai.
After our 2 nights had lapsed we then changed to the Deluxe Pool room. Once again this was difficult to do for reasons mentioned above and also there seemed to be a lack of communication between staff. The Deluxe Pool room Was good It was clean and modern but nothing special. I guess its Perk was direct access to the pool/jacuzzi which was nothing special (we used it once for about 3 minutes). The TV was small and old. and there seemed to be only 1 power outlet available in the room to charge phones/camera/laptop.
Both Rooms featured a Minibar which actually was reasonably priced. a can of Singa Beer was 40 THB which as compared to the pool bar at 120THB seemed to be the better option. Noise was heard from this room in particular but it was not excessive and appeared to be the norm for Patong beach
The pools were extremely nice. The water was nice and warm. There were frangipannis floating around in the pool that had fallen off of the trees. i thought it was actually quite relaxing and pretty. The pool bars served Beers, wine, spirits, soft drinks, cocktails, mocktails and food
all of which were excellent. occasionally one of the staff would show you a few tricks. very cool.
Breakfast was also included in our stay which was delicious it included both Asian and Western foods. Chef prepared fresh cooked Eggs and queues for this were short. We also made use of the Spanakarn Spa. We booked for a 90 minute Royal Thai Massage which was 1600 THB approx. Expensive for Phuket yes but it seemed less dodgy It was Spotlessly clean and the service was outstanding. The massage was extremely good i hadn't felt so limber in years. The location is possibly one of the best in Patong. There are so many facilities nearby including restaurants, bars, Starbucks, Haagen Daaz, Mcdonalds, Watsons Chemist, etc To sum it all up
i would possibly not stay here again but would more than likely stay at the Marriott or the Holiday Inn both seemed to be all round better hotels

Room Tip: Men would choose the Suite. Woman would choose the Deluxe pool room

We had been hugely looking forward to our 6 day visit to Banthai and sadly checked out after one night.

The hotel has an excellent location on Patong Beach. Check-in was very good and we were offered a welcome drink in the arrival lounge and escorted to our room.

We had paid for a Deluxe Pool Room but the room was small and far from deluxe. We chose the room so that we had direct access to the swimming pool. The images looked amazing on the website but sadly the room we were allocated was right by the bar so it was incredibly noisy and was the very end pool room so was round the corner rather than having direct access to the pool. The bathroom was very tired and there was mould growing around the bath and up the edge of the shower door.

The pool clearly needed cleaning and unfortunately after having walked around to explore the hotel we returned to our room to be greeted by a rat on the doorstep. At this point we went to speak to someone at Recpetion, none of whom seemed to know what was going on or who was responsible. Finally we spoke to the manager who tried to offer us an upgrade but couldn't because the hotel was full.

The luxury Thai holiday that we had anticipated was sadly far from a reality at Banthai. After one night we moved to the Marriot Renaissance Phuket which I cannot recommend highly enough - this really will provide a luxurious Thai escape!

I minute walk to the beach, the 3 pools are amazing and all pools have a swim up bar. people are very friendly. the rooms are fantastic, air con works all the time, tip: leave one key in the room in the slot so the sir con stays on while you leave for the day, house keeping was good kept the room nice and tidy, i even left money under my brush and it was still there when we got back. we loved this place and are planning on going back in 6 months.

Room Tip: Dont book day tours with hotel or tour people, walk out on beach rd and you will find plenty of stal...

My husband and i stayed here for 8 nights and loved every minute. We had a welcome drink on arrival in an air conditioned room and got a free upgrade to a pool view room on the 4th floor. The rooms were very clean and tidy and had everything we needed including complementary bottles of water. No free Wi-Fi which was the only annoying thing and seemed very expensive to buy it. There are many restaurants that have free Wi-Fi so wasnt really too much of a problem. We only ate breakfast here once as in wasnt included in the rate and it was very expensive so make sure you get it included in your rate. The breakfast was excellent with heaps of variety. This place is located off the beach road and walking off the main drag into the hotel driveway is like walking into your very own sanctuary. Its very quiet considering its location and the security is amazing. Every time you walk past the security guards they click their heels and salute…lovely! They had a few great bars attached to the hotel and a great restaurant with live music every night. Definitely wouldnt hesitate to stay there again.

The hotel was not extremely fancy, but the service and cleanliness more than made up for this. We only had issues with the plumbing and I think it was common there.

I never had issues with the linen, or towels. Everything was clean and neat.

The pools were well kept and extensive. Although if you actually wanted to swim in them, they were only 1.4m deep.

We had a fantastic time. Could not fault the place. The breakfast was excellent. So close to everything. We would not hesitate to stay there again. Everybody was friendly and very helpful. The room was excellent. Overall we rated it 10/10.

Room Tip: We stayed 3rd level at the back of the building. Not noisy, lovely view of pool.

My Husband and I just spent 4 nights at the Banthai. We were apart of the Mytime Program (an exclusive for guests who book through Flight Centre), so we got to check into our room straight away. The daily FOC replenished Mini Bar was a great idea, rooms were nice and comfortable, the grounds are gorgeous. Free WiFi and The Buffet Breakfast was great too..

BUT..
- Front Office staff are frosty and not very pleasant. They can barley speak english which isn't helpful in a hotel full of Aussies.
- They had a refurb going on. The information I recieved from the front desk was that it would be done during reasonable hours and it shouldnt affect guests. Yeah right. The banging from the floor beneath us started at 6:30am and it didnt finish until 5pm. Not very pleasant when your on Holidays! It also meant we had to walk all the way around the resort to get to our room.

Besides that, we had a great stay for our first time to Phuket. If we were to come back though, I would sample somewhere else!

Room Tip: Pool Access is great, but they are right in front of the swim up bar that has pounding music all day...
