The Banthai We had been looking forward to visiting for quite a while, On Paper and on the Website this place looks amazing and surprise surprise on the outside it is amazing. Its clean and modern and really looks great. At check in we were escorted to the arrival lounge and given a icy cool drink and a cool towel. The Customer service was fairly poor due to the staffs inability to speak english well. We had originally booked the Deluxe Pool Room, But were advised that they were booked out of these rooms and we would be upgraded to a suite for the duration (it seemed that several other people had the same issue, It almost seemed that if you had booked the room at a discounted rate that you were pushed aside to make room for more full paying holiday makers)
One of the staff then showed us the suite we would be staying in (not that we had much of a choice) after much discussion we had agreed to stay in the suite for 2 nights then change to the Deluxe Pool Room (this was kinda hard to negotiate as the language barrier was quite large). The Suite was on level 3 and was spotlessly clean and very modern. it featured a Kitchenette, a Balcony overlooking the pool and pool bar. 2 Plasma TV's Free internet Via the TV and free WiFi. (The internet was poor at best struggling to load the google homepage)
and a free espresso machine. In my opinion this would be the room to stay in at the Banthai.
After our 2 nights had lapsed we then changed to the Deluxe Pool room. Once again this was difficult to do for reasons mentioned above and also there seemed to be a lack of communication between staff. The Deluxe Pool room Was good It was clean and modern but nothing special. I guess its Perk was direct access to the pool/jacuzzi which was nothing special (we used it once for about 3 minutes). The TV was small and old. and there seemed to be only 1 power outlet available in the room to charge phones/camera/laptop.
Both Rooms featured a Minibar which actually was reasonably priced. a can of Singa Beer was 40 THB which as compared to the pool bar at 120THB seemed to be the better option. Noise was heard from this room in particular but it was not excessive and appeared to be the norm for Patong beach
The pools were extremely nice. The water was nice and warm. There were frangipannis floating around in the pool that had fallen off of the trees. i thought it was actually quite relaxing and pretty. The pool bars served Beers, wine, spirits, soft drinks, cocktails, mocktails and food
all of which were excellent. occasionally one of the staff would show you a few tricks. very cool.
Breakfast was also included in our stay which was delicious it included both Asian and Western foods. Chef prepared fresh cooked Eggs and queues for this were short. We also made use of the Spanakarn Spa. We booked for a 90 minute Royal Thai Massage which was 1600 THB approx. Expensive for Phuket yes but it seemed less dodgy It was Spotlessly clean and the service was outstanding. The massage was extremely good i hadn't felt so limber in years. The location is possibly one of the best in Patong. There are so many facilities nearby including restaurants, bars, Starbucks, Haagen Daaz, Mcdonalds, Watsons Chemist, etc To sum it all up
i would possibly not stay here again but would more than likely stay at the Marriott or the Holiday Inn both seemed to be all round better hotels
