“Real Kickboxing—Not Pros though”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2014

So, based on the reviews I read here, I was pretty excited for Patong Stadium's "Muay Thai". I knew that Bangla stadium was all staged, and felt certain I wasn't wasting my money.

Im no Muay thai practitioner myself, but im familiar enough with it to know the difference between complete amateurs and pros.

Patong stadium stages fights that are "real" in the sense that they're real kickboxing matches between amateurs. They clearly had a no elbows rule, which goes against the core of Muay thai, as far as I know, and it was basically a set of aggressive sparring sessions between novices/people off the street.

Go, if only for the music, atmosphere, experience and cheap drinks, but don't get conned into paying for VIP seats like I was. All the seats give a great view, and its not really muay thai, so don't go all out.

Great atmosphere, definately worth watching. Small stadium so great view from any seat. Started with young boys fighting & went all the way through from teenagers to adults male & female.

“Muay Thai at its Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

My Fiancée was very keen to see what Patong Beach offered in the way of Thai Boxing. After a VERY disappointing trip to Bangla Boxing Stadium I was dragged to a second event at Patong Boxing Stadium.

Not expecting much, I took my seat (which was more reasonably priced than Bangla) and waited for the fights to commence.

After the first couple of fights, I could tell this was a completely different experience. The first thing you notice is the amount of local people there (completely different to the other stadium which is primarily tourists).

The second thing you notice are the quality of the fights. Infinitely better than the other stadium we visited. The skill of the fighters could not be disputed. They are obviously true professional Muay Thai fighters in every sense of the word.

A thoroughly enjoyable and completely immersing evening. So much so that, to my surprise, we went back for a second visit.

The second visit exceeded the first. On the fight card were not one, but two, current world champions (Damien Alamos & Rafi Singpatong). This is something you don't often see at a provincial event.

If you do want to experience an evening of true Muay Thai, then look no further than Patong Boxing Stadium. Great value and exceptional fighters. You will not be disappointed!!!

“great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

Great seating everywhere, cheap alcohol drinks. Close to most resorts in Patong. But be a little early to get good seats.
