The trip was in early Feb 2013 with my whole family. We had very good experience with Avista.

We like the location of this hotel. 10 mins driving from croweded downtown, it's peaceful and quite. The hotel is in the mid of the hill where the view of the sea is nice.

The service team in Avista is very friendly and initiative to help. When we checked out, they provided us with good caring all the same while we're waiting for the flight in the mid night.

3 swiming pools within the hotel with nice view, and 10 mins drive to a hideaway Paradise Bay, the family doesn't even have to go to Patong to enjoy the sunshine and sea.

Just on a comment to Lisa W's write up and the response from the Avista management.
I am one of the family members mentioned in the response, and would just like to clarify that we did let the front desk know and Ellen we were their family (and more importantly we were their Mum, Dad, Sister and partner along with Aunt and Uncle). We didn't know were their room of course and because they were late in returning we had wait for them in the lobby area for them to return. It gave us a chance to admire the view and what a beautiful resort that you have.
To cut a long story short we had a great time and your pool is amazing and the pool bar great.
Thankyou Simon for lunch in your beautiful restaurant later in the week!
Thankyou :)

Dear SandraW66,

Greetings from Avista Hideaway Resort & Spa.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your comments, it is always valuable to us to know how the guest experience was of the Resort. I hope it wasn't too much of an inconvenience when you all came to visit and I do look forward to seeing you all again in the future.

We are so glad you enjoyed the Resort pools and overall feel. I am sure you agree we do have a very unique property which is getting better each day.

Its also nice to know you enjoyed the meal. Tim our head chef is very proud of the dishes he has created and so far we have had some really positive feedback for the quality and presentation. We have just introduced our new menus in April 2013 with a whole new range of seafood, pasta and local dishes so there will be even more delicacies for you to try next time you come.

Again thank you for taking the time to leave feedback and we hope to see you and your family again in the future but this time for a longer visit.

Kind Regards

Avista Management

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013 via mobile

Just returned from a week at the Avista Resort, was slightly hesitant in booking after reading some of the previous reviews. We traveled as a young couple and were looking for a place to relax but still be close to the action if we wanted to head to the bars/clubs etc. The hotel is brand new and only opened in december so everything is clean, crisp and fresh looking. The resort is built on a hill about a 5 minute drive from patong. Like most new construction in the area, it his built high and on a "Tsunami safe" area hence the reason for all the steps mentioned in most other reviews. Initially I was a bit baffled by the lay out of the hotel and all the steps but when you take into account the location and the reason for building high up ( other than the amazing views) you quickly appreciate the functional and aesthetic design of the hotel. You will be encouraged to use the buggys to get to and from your room, a simple call to reception and they will arrange the buggy to collect you so the steps are not an issue.

The staff were exceptional, always greeting you with a smile and making sure you were comfortable and happy. One previous reviewer complained that the staff talked to them too much?? If you stay in the hotel you will meet Ellen, she is the guest relations manager and a great ambassador for the hotel. She wanders around the restaurant at breakfast time making sure everyone is happy, how is that for service.

Some reviews mentioned the local taxi " mafia".It is true that the taxi prices are fixed but this has nothing to do with the hotel, its like staying in a hotel in London and complaining about the price of a black cab there. A taxi to patong from the hotel is about 200 baht so it's very cheap and from the airport to the hotel is 700 baht. Like most things here you can negotiate a price before committing. The hotel also provides a complimentary shuttle service which is great and runs at certain times during the day and it will drop you right in the centre of Patong.

The rooms were as described on the hotel website with all the amenities you expect and they were spotless. We initially stayed in a Buena room and upgraded to a duplex jacuzzi suite for our last few nights as we were celebrating a birthday. The views from the hotel are simply stunning and watching the sun set from one of the 3 affinity pools with a cold beer makes you appreciate how lucky you are to be able to come to these places on holidays. It makes working worth while when this is the reward.
The restaurant Vista is very quirky at night,it almost feels like you are in a trendy bar, the food is very good and reasonably priced. This is also where the breakfast is served, the buffet is extensive so you will not leave the table hungry. The bar has an amazing view of the ocean and surrounding mountains and an extensive list of drinks, what more could you want.

If you are looking for a great hotel with excellent service and staff, set in a beautiful location that won't break the bank, then the Avista is for you.

Dear barry69,

Greetings from Avista Hideaway Resort & Spa.

We are delighted that we lived up to your expectations and that you enjoyed the time spent here with us. We always appreciate feedback both good and bad and always follow up on any areas where we can improve. Each guest has different demands and expectations and it is sometimes hard to fulfill all of them 100% although we always try our best to make sure we can.

I am sure you agree we are very lucky to be located where we are in Patong it allows us to have a totally secluded, private atmosphere where people can relax and enjoy peaceful surroundings and yet when you want to be part of the action its just down the road.

We certainly know that the property layout is unique and the way it has been designed is to ensure we have lots of small private areas even though the Resort itself is very large. Plus I think getting lost and finding your way around only to discover a hidden infinity pool is half the fun! You will be glad to know we have introduced some more signage so hopefully next time you visit it will be easier.

Ellen is very grateful for the comments, as you pointed out both her and the other staff are always around and easily approachable to ensure Guests have a pleasant stay with us. We do think it is crucial to interact with Guests while they are here to make sure everything is OK. If we are told when a problem occurs we can fix it and ensure it does not have an impact on the rest of the stay.

We are so glad you enjoyed all the different outlets, each one was designed to have a specific feel to it and to help Guests relax and unwind. We have some of the best sunset views in Patong and each evening is truly breathtaking which all adds to the ambiance.

Once again thank you for your comments and we do hope to see you again in the future.

Warm Regards

Avista Management.

Was the most memorable trip for me and my wife! Just can't wait to go back there on our next vacation. I'm big into reading reviews before I decide a place to stay and it was a special occasion so didn't have any room for dissapointment.....boy was I right in choosing this resort...you bet!
I was initially very skeptical after reading a couple of bad reviews(that's where I prefer to start before I read the good ones), I was totally overwhelmed by the hospitality of the staff and had a truly amazing experience. Some of the negative reviews this resort had can be very misguiding but considering the fact this was a fairly new resort I decided to give this a try and was worth every bit!!
We have already planned where we will be staying on our next visit to Thailand........yes you guessed it right...AVISTA HIDEAWAY RESORT & SPA.

We stayed at the Avista hideaway last week and can honestly say it was a lovely experience. The hotel is brand new, opened a couple of months ago, excellent service from all staff with a friendly and helpful attitude. The views and location are fantastic, especially at sunset. The restaurant is “top table class” and has a sensible selection of dishes (unlike many Thailand restaurants with hundreds to confuse you). We also got an excellent price direct from the hotel because they have only just opened, about ½ price with discount on the spa and restaurant. Free shuttle service into Patong town.

Dear jtplondon3,

Greetings from Avista Hideaway Resort & Spa.

We are delighted that we met all your expectations and you enjoyed your stay with us here. We are a brand new Resort which means everything is still crisp and new however I am sure you will agree the atmosphere of the Resort is a warm, friendly, comfortable one with lots of private areas to enjoy.

Chef Tim is so glad you enjoyed his menus and he is constantly introducing new things to keep them fresh and exciting.

For pricing we always find that booking direct with the Hotel will give the best deal. Prices are normally similar across all travel agents etc however the benefit of booking direct is you get a lot more additional items such as upgrades, F&B discounts, Spa bonus and also more APG Points (Avista Preferred Guest) which can then be used for other items.

Again thank you for your feedback and we have passed all the comments onto the staff.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Warm Regards

Avista Management.

My husband and I were after a relaxing holiday, and relaxing is what we got!!
Yes the hotel isnt right in Patong but we didnt want to be right in the middle of it all, i think it was the perfect amount of distance, its about a 5 min tuk tuk ride to Bangla Rd or 10 min ride in the free hotel shuttle to the Jugceylon.
Most Tuk Tuks charged 300 baht from Patong beach to the Hotel and when we asked we always said Avista Hideaway Tri Trang Beach and most of them knew were it was it was just when it came to the last corner we had to yell LEFT LEFT LEFT..... definantly need a sign on that corner!!!!

We did have an issue with our family members (that werent guests of the hotel) when they wanted to come have a swim and cocktail by the pool and check out this amazing resort we had been raving about but it was quickly resolved By Ellen and Simon. Im pleased to say the family members said next time they go to Patong they would like stay at Avista Hideaway.

We had a room that was a pool access room and WOW it was just perfect! I noticed the cleaners came in during the day then again at night (leaving yummy mini cookies) which i didnt mind, we got our own pool beds right out our door to lay on, towels were set out every morning and the staff were tops, although they could do with a little more cocktail training and alot of the cocktails we chose couldnt be made as they didnt have the ingedients, lucky i LOVED the Pina Coladas ;)

The hotel itself and the design is just stunning, the view from the lobby is definantly the best!
We found the stairs good exercise but there are quiet a few and you can get out of breath by the time you get to the lobby, but hey if your worried about that just phone for a buggy.
I think the hotel could benefit from a few more signs as we did get lost a few times but once we figured out where everything was we were fine.

The only thing that dissapointed me was we had to pay $88 AUD for the sheet, 1 pillowcase and quilt cover as my husband got a tattoo and got ink on those 3 things, we were originally told we had to pay $130+ as it wont come out, we obviously werent impressed as they hadnt even tried to clean them, we were then offered a 30% discount and as we had a few hours to kill before our flight we asked them to wash them first to see if it would come out and said we'll be back in a few hours, a few hours later and well, it didnt come out, so we had too pay, apparently they couldnt use them again and i was adamant bleach would get it out but they didnt want to try that so we ended up taking them home with us as i knew it would come out with a little bleach, and guess what NOT 1 SINGLE STAIN remains on any of those items..... so i paid $88 for sheets i didnt really need and that would have taken them 15 minutes and maybe a few $$ (not $88) to soak in a bit of bleach, i guess i can think of it as a souvenir!!

Overall i was impressed with the hotel and will hopefully be returning one day, but wont be getting a tattoo whilst staying there!!!

Dear Lisa W,

Greetings from Avista Hideaway Resort & Spa. We are so glad you both enjoyed your stay and had a relaxing holiday.

We do agree with you that we have a fantastic location and we feel this is one of the main attractions of our Resort. The fact that we are on the mountain overlooking the bays and yet only 5 minutes from the hussle and bussle of central Patong. You will also be glad to know that the government has approved our road signs which should be in place by April 2013 so it should be a little easier to find the Resort next time you visit. I'm sure the Tuk Tuk driver appreciated your directions :-)

We do apologise for the confusion when your family visited the Resort. When they first arrived the reception did not realise they were visiting you in the Resort and thought they were just walk in customers wanting to use the Hotel Facilities. We always welcome outside guests and we do hope your family will stay with us next time now they have seen the Resort. Simon & Ellen will be here to make sure we look after them well.

So glad you enjoyed the Pool Access room and we will ensure we have all your favourite cocktails ready for the next visit.

We have also noted your comments regarding the signage in the Resort and this is something we are working on. We will be adding more directional signage around the property as well as property maps located in strategic locations to ensure easier navigation.

I am sorry the incident with the bed sheets was disappointing, we do only charge for damage as a last resort and we did try to remove the ink stains first however as you know they did not come out. When we do have damaged linen we also normally replace with new linen as the guests comfort is priority, I am sure you will agree the bedroom is critical and all linen must be crisp, clean and hygienic therefore it is better to use new rather than risk bleaching or damage.

We enjoyed having you here at the Resort and we do hope to see you again as well as welcoming your family. We have shared your comments with all the staff and both Simon & Ellen send their regards and thanks.

Hope the tattoo turned out OK

Warm Regards
