Burasari Patong Resort

we just spent 2 weeks at the burasari, we only booked 10 days and loved it so much stayed the extra nights. you need to book the elite pool access room, we cant complain aboute anything it was so lovely, the staff were always friendly, the room always cleaned, the mini bar always filled and breakfast was so good, there is something for everyones taste buds. its a peacefull hotel with lots of atmosphere, so quaint and yet everything is at your doorstep. we used the laundry just outside and turn left its a chemist as well, very cheap. the indian ali baba is a few doors further on, yum. we ate there often. scruffy murphys on bangla road is the best food at the cheapest prices, the servings are huge and at around $4.00 who would complain, they have everything. we had no problems changing money on the streets, infact everything and everyone were lovely, if you are dog lover like me please go in the 7/11 and buy sausages they cost 20 cents each and go for a walk down the beach and feed the dogs, i did this twice a day. we arranged for a man to pick us up from the airport and used him for trips, his name is manop and hes lovely and speaks good english, he took us to some great places and hes cheap, i held falcons and eagles and fed baby tigers milk from there bottles, a snake show elephant ride and would you beleive we sat with gibbons and had a drink, they sit right next to you, manop will take you to all these places, thats only a few things. he has a toyota van, very clean, if you want his email and mobile please ask me, we found him on here from other people who had used him. the shooping centre jungcylon is great, you must go downstairs the shopping and the massages are great. nothing opens in phuket untill 11.00 except the 7/11 which is so cheap you feel quilty. i got thai silk p.j"s and japanese style silk tops for $12 each and thai silk tie cufflinks and hanky in boxes for $10. all at jung cylon. and theres so much more, silk cusion covers that would cost a fortune for $3.00 who would ever complain, i cant wait to go back next year, i too walked thru the holiday inn and its nice but they have areas for the rich and the rest for us!! no thanks. the marriot next door should be finished in september and looks very nice but i think i will be sticking to the burasari, it was heaven and the smell is nothing really, just a bit musty, what can u expect the hotel was emerged in sea water right up and over the second floor. the mozzies were few and far between we just stuck a can of fly spray in our case. how lovely after walking home from dinner to go into your room and beable to strip down to your undies and walk straight into the pool to cool off, thats the best thing aboute elite pool access rooms.

Went through the fabulous pictures on the hotel website and the actual room didn't turn out anywhere close. This is despite the hotel upgrading us (for free, which is a nice touch) to the next level of rooms. The hotel got really good photographers for the shoots. Having said that, it seems like the hotel has 3 wings/buildings, and the one I stayed in looked like the oldest. Can't tell from the website description, but getting one of those (definitely higher priced) rooms with balconies facing the new pool shd be imaginably better. There are two pools, seems like a new vs old wing event again. If you are staying in the old wing, try to avoid the side of the buildng overlooking the (ugly rooftop) of the restaurant on the ground floor, as the open lounge, band, nightly soccer broadcast go on till midnight and your rooms are not sound proof.

The free minibars service that I thought is really rare turned out to be a letdown as there are just 5 can drinks (incl 2 beers), 1 bar of kit kat and 1 small pack of chips. It's free, but not a fully stocked minibar and not much variety.

In the bathroom, you get brandless shower gel and shampoo (no conditioner provided). They didn't even bother to print the hotel logo on the bottles that seemed purchased off the shelves. The labels for 'shampoo' and 'shower gel' are printed on a piece of paper, and pasted over the big reused bottle with a transparent scotch tape. Even budget hotels I have stayed in other Asian countries can do better than this.

Breakfast is nothing to shout about, given that this is my 5th Phuket stay and I've seen much better. Definitely surprised to see nests of ants crawling all over the bread itself in the basket of bread at the buffet table, and the staff oblivious to it. I lost my appetite immediately.

As of most Thais, the hotel staff are friendly and warm. They greet you anywhere they see you in the hotel. That's the only nice thing I remember about this hotel.

“Not worth it by far”

Burasari Patong Resort

Jun 20, 2008

Burasari is a hotel with many faces and we got to see pretty much all of them during our 12 day stay.
The first thing I would like to say is DO NOT TRUST THE PICTURES!!!
The second is DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL THROUGH INTERNET!!!
As we planned to stay for almost 2 weeks in Phuket and 4 weeks total in Thailand, we had searched for weeks to find the perfect hotel for a reasonable price, which in this case we thought we had with Burasari, which, in all the pictures we saw looked AMAZING, and the price we found online was €66 for a double room.
We also had 3 other friends that wanted to come and 'visit' us and decided to come and stay for 3 days, 7 days and 12 days, and as their budget was way more than ours, we booked them into the best rooms the hotel had to offer.
However, when we arrived at the hotel and saw our room we freaked out!!! it was small, it smelled, it had no balcony and the view was into a wall. So we explained that we would stay for almost 2 weeks, in low-season I may add so the hotel was not full, and asked them if they could upgrade us without charge.
They told us that they could not do that as it was not their policy, but for a small amount we could get a better room. So... we went to see this better room, and let me tell you, we continued to look for better rooms until we had gone up 4 categories as the rooms were terrible, and the best price they coulf offer was €110.
We were not happy with this as €110 was almost the double of what we had initially thought we would pay, and we asked them to reconsider the price ashad booked in 3 of our friends to stay in the most expensive rooms, which were almost €300 per night, and that they were to stay there only if we did, so if we were to change hotel, and gotten a better hotel for less, they would move as well and they loose out on all 5 of us.
Then our next surprise came. As we had booked through internet and not directly from the hotel, we were not allowed to cancel once we had checked in!!!!! So we were forced to stay there and had to pay the €110 per night!!
Also, the so called SPA that they announce on their website, is not a SPA. It was just 2 old rooms converted into a kind of theraphy room, where they could offer very overpriced massages and at tops some facials and body treatments. NOT worth it!!
All the facilites they offered were very low class and not to the standards of a 4 star plus hotel. For example, the busieness center was just 2 PC's near the lobby, which out of the 2 one never worked, and it was open air so either it was too hot and humid to sit there, or you gor eaten alive by mosquitos.
So we ended up using the facilities of Holiday Inn, which was just across the strees, and let me tell you, there they treated us like royalties in every way. The staff at Holliday Inn were supreme and I would reccoment everyone to stay there if they want to stay in Patong. Amazing facilities and rooms and GREAT staff 24 hours a day.

So my overall rating of Burasari is that it is not a good value for money and even though the place is very charming, if you pay enough to end up in a livable room, there are many hotels in the area with much better ammendeties and price.

If you want to have a nice Burasari experience, it is enough with a couple of drinks in their bar by the pool, apart from this you will probably end up soending more time at other hotels than there.

After extensive research I decided to book our holiday at the Burasari and I'm very glad we did!! I booked through [--] which was a very easy website - we booked the Elite Pool Access Room as I thought this was the best option. I booked the transfers at a later date through the Burasari and a massage however I wouldn't recommend this as a) they forgot to arrange it and we were left at the airport and b) when we were checking out the transfers (and the massage I booked) were on our bill even though I paid for this ahead of time. Also the transfers were 900 BAHT each way and you can get a car for 550 Baht at the airport quite easily.

HOWEVER on arrival at the Burasari this was quickly forgotten after we were upgraded to a Mood Collection Suite. I don't think its worth the extra $200 or so more than a Elite Pool Access however the upgrade was fantastic as the room was nearly twice the size - they also had rose petals on the bed which was a nice touch.

The Spa was really great - we got the aromatherapy massage which was a nice 'body polish' (i.e. nothing too deep) and was really relaxing after a long flight however after you've caught up on sleep I would recommend looking outside as you can get other massages for half the price which are just as good.

We got our laundry done also at the Burasari the first day - however we decided to take a risk on the place just down the road - just as good and HEAPS cheaper - what you'll pay for one item you'll pay for the whole bag of washing (around 50-70Baht)

The pool scene was great - my partner and I really liked the pool bar especially at happy hour - the cocktails were very nice!!

After booking the Burasari I was a little nervous after reading some of the complaints however to be honest I think some of their compaints were due to the (low) level of room they booked - you get what you pay for!! Nevertheless we also experienced a musty smell - I think this is partly due to the climate of Thailand however also from what I understand a lot of hotels have had problems with the drainage post-tsunami. However instead of whinging about it on TripAdvisor my partner and I just bought a two dollar air freshener from the supermarket next door - problem solved.

All in all a GREAT experience at the Burasari and I would definately stay there again!!
