“Wow What a place!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

First of all this hotel is not on the beach you have to walk out to the street and try and cross it without being hit. Next the pictures on the internet weren't even close to what the rooms look like, If you look at trip advisor first picture they put you up in the three story buildings on the left hand side of the picture. Otherwise it is the perfect hotel in the perfect location. You are one street off the night life. I felt very safe here. I also got stomach flu or a stomach bug while there. Please remember its a third world country about 50 years behind us. Had to go to the emergency room at about 300 USD . They don't refrigerate a lot of things and they use ice but I don't think its made from safe water. Also the hotel tap water you cannot drink Don't know about brushing teeth with it either . And I did neither and still got sick.

Room Tip: Book an upgrade and then ask for a free upgrade from there you should get moved to the tower. Or ju...

Location of the hotel is excellent. The staff is in serious need of training on how to deal with customers. Very terrible service levels. It took us 3 days to upgrade from their superior room, which is not superior at all, to a see-view room where interner, that you have to pay for, is not working.
I've stayed in hundreds of hotels; this is the first time in my life to get charged for room slippers!!!!

I planned a holiday with a group of friends this year (9 to be exact). I had stayed at Patong Beach Hotel a few years ago when it was a little tired and run down although I still enjoyed my stay. I was very pleased this time around, the hotel has been fefurbished with bright colours and modern decor, the showers were AMAZING, the only problem being the rooms were very small. As we had 3 per room we were extremely cosy! The breakfasts were wonderful as before, with a great selection of fresh fruit and hot dishes available. The convenient location to the beach, shopping and Bangla Road meant some of the mothers weren't too worried about the younger ones getting lost. The staff were lovely and friendly and only too happy to help us out with day to day activities or directions. We had access to the internet which was reasonable at 100 baht for half an hour with good connection. Housekeeping was great generally around 10 in the morning for our rooms and lovely, clean and neat on our return from breakfast or swimming at the beach. Overall, we had a fantastic time, my friends were very impressed with the hotel and the friendly staff and have already expressed their desire to return to Patong Beach Hotel next time.

Just got back from a trip through Thailand. We stayed in the Patong Beach Hotel during our second spell in Phuket, the hotel itself had a lot going for it, it's in a great location, is an impressive building and the rooms were very nice in my opinion.

What I did notice in comparison to other hotels was the fact that it's all about money there...as previous reviews have said the wifi isn't free, not even in the public areas. All of us ended up paying an extra 500 baht for access to the internet and to be honest the connection was crap, we did complain and ask for our money back but we were fobbed off by the manager who said she'd get the internet connection fixed....Also when we booked we wanted to book the breakfast inclusive with the room price, we weren't able to do this for some reason, when we arrived we asked how much it would be to add breakfast to our rooms, we were told it was an extra 1200 BAHT PER PERSON PER DAY!...That's like £12 each per day....we said we'd leave it and would make our own arrangements for breakfast....they then came back to us 5 minutes later and offered us a 50% discount....robbing b******s..should of given us that price in the first place instead of trying to rip us off

The worst part was as we were checking out, we'd settled the room bills, mini bar charges were paid, we asked the reception how much a taxi to the airport would be, 1000 baht was the answer, this is about 200 baht more than you'd pay if you walked down the road and got your own taxi but with it being hot we thought sod it we'll just pay the extra. When the taxi arrived we were told it was actually 1500 baht as it was 500 baht per person!? I'm not sure why a taxi would charge per person and not just for the journey itself?...anyway we refused to pay the extra and said we'd walk down the road and get our own taxi...as we walked down the road one of the staff chased after us telling us we could leave as we still had a bill to pay...we told him we'd paid all our bills...he then shouted to the security guard...who then embarrassingly detained us in the middle of the road until we went back to reception, my dad went into the reception where they tried to charge him for the taxi we didn't want....highly embarrassing as other guests were coming and going as we waited under guard on the entry road! Eventually the security guard was given the OK to let us go on our way as we refused to pay them. We walked to the road and got a taxi straight away for 800 baht.

Such a shame that a nice looking hotel in a great location is let down by money grabbing management/owners. Won't be returning on our next visit

We planned our own trip to Thailand this year, and were pleased to be able to book one week at Patong Beach Hotel, since we've had a very nice stay there twice before. But, but, but.....this time it was very, very disappointing!!!!
It is a money-machine with loud music - very little service and the staff in the reception and restaurant are (eventhough they're smiling) NOT very helpfull and rude. One said:"If you want a taxi - go to the street and pick one yourself". They have redesigned the rooms - and not for the better!! The rooms are very dark. Housekeeping is done very late (5-5:30 pm).
The breakfast is still very nice and the hotel is near the beach - but that's it!
We've tried a few hotels in Thailand and all had free wifi, but once again here Patong Beach Hotel fails - yes, you can get access - if you pay for it (and it is not cheap).

Room Tip: You should try Metadee at Kata Beach - there you're treated like royalty!

We stayed at this hotel for 1 week.
The hotel is in a perfect location. Across from the beach, shopping right out the front and close to Bangla Road.
The hotel by all means is not 5 star. A little old and basic. Having said that, we were very happy with our room on the 7th floor that looked out over the beach.
The pool was nice and breakfast okay.
The best thing about the resort is the location and our accommodation for the week was a very reasonable price.
We didn't have any problems or complaints whilst staying and the staff were nice.

We spent our honeymoon in this hotel. After an enduring flight from Melbourne we arrived there at 4:30am local time. The reception staff were quite rude and arrogant when we checked in and as it was near to new years we had this god aweful bass playing from a floating party barge. This aside we had a wonderful time. The deluxe seaview room was lovely, we were in room 1602 and this overlooked the ocean. The buffet breakfast was good but it was sometimes left overs from the previous night dinners. It was a short walk to do all of the shopping my wife could ever want and we found a wonderful gentleman by the name of "johnny" (shop 5 near the holiday inn) make sure you see him if you get the chance - don't take his first price ha ha. We caught many tuk tuks from the hotel (best one was the pink one with "my dream" on the windshield) only costing around $800THB to get to Bhudda and all around Phuket etc. Overall was a great experience and im sure when we next return which wont be far away in the future we will stay here again.

Room Tip: seaview in the tower - dont take the other-ones
