Have never been more disappointed in my life. We found it through a brochure and should have suspected what kay ahead as it only appeared in one tour operator's brochure in the UK. Note it is now not in any.

Looked ok but when we saw what they claimed to be a funicular railway,more like something out of a 60's holiday camp we started to worry. We were right.

First room, we booked an ocean view villa, had twin beds and was very darr - we had booked a king sized bed. Asked to move and when moving to an upper floor carrying our own luggage we met the general manager who asked if we were ok, we explained our dissapointment so he ignored us for the rest of our stay preferring to entertain his friends in the bar while barling orders at the staff who were very helpful and friendly.

When we used our jacuzzi bath on the balcony the jets shot out thousands of ants. We didn't use this "unique" feature again.

Room service menu was awful and the pool side service was fine if you liked chips. This area was also filthy as was the pool.

Beach was lovely but facilities like the fitness room were again like something out of Butlins in the 60's. No disrespect to Butlins.

Location was ok but we ourselves heading into Patong everyday for lunch for some decent food and company.

That was the second time we had been to Phuket and our seventh to Thailand, probably just bad luck and it hasn't put us off.

Wish we had been on line then and not relied on a brochure.

Unless the management has changed and money has been spent upgrading the rooms and facilities I seriously wouldn't bother.

Stayed there for three nights total. The second time, they bumped up the room to a deluxe suite, which was nice.
Staff are friendly, but watch those bell boys who hang around each time expecting a large tip!
The food was pretty ordinary, especially room service. Good selection of three restaurants though made up for it. The location was great, as was the pool with the private beach. If you are looking to get away from the noise of Patong Beach, then this is a great hotel. Walk out to the highway and flag down a tuk-tuk if you want to save a bit of money as the cabs will really over-charge you if you are being picked up from there. The rooms were nice as were the spas on the verandah (highly recommended).

We had spent ages researching on wotif.com and decided to splurge a little for an ocean view room with an in-room jacuzzi. Upon our arrival after a 2.5 hour flight from Chiang Mai, they informed us that their system was down and they had overbooked and had to move us to another hotel.

They were polite in their approach and did all they could to find a suitable alternative however on their recommendation we were moved to the Patong Merlin in the heart of Patong Beach - a very different atmosphere than we had planned and it was not nearly as peaceful and secluded as we had hoped.

From all that we saw from the Lobby the hotel seemed lovely and we were very disappointed not to actually stay there.

Be warned when booking online to confirm they actually have rooms available as this has apparently happened before...

Thavorn Beach Village is a beautiful hotel, fantastic location on the beach. You can't swim in the sea at low tide because of the reef, but it is great for looking for crabs, star fish etc. until the tide comes in again

I had a few problems at the hotel - mainly because of health and safety. They had live cables running across a path joined up with tape, no lights from reception to the villas until you get on the main path. This is a standard problem in most of Thailand.

Other than that the hotel was fine - breakfast was very good and the amenities were quite nice.

The hotel is a little way out of town and you will need to get a taxi in and out. Costs around £4 each way.

Massage and spa facilities in the hotel are very expensive. If you travel into town the cost is 1/5th of those in the hotel.

Nice holiday resort, lots of Russians, not a place for children really, but that is my opinion.
