“Only niggle is staff need training.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

We arrived at new years eve and were greatly with smiling staff all enjoying the festivities they had provided including an incredible NYE buffet dinner. Our room upon arrival was not good, no air con, terrible view and noisy teenager neighbors, however the staff were more than happy to arrange a room change the next day. Room & front desk staff were very good, friendly. Unfortunately the tour desk , although tried to be helpful , speak very bad English and hardly understand you. Therefore dealing and booking tours was difficult, they did not attempt to recommend..expect for a trainee named Rhys, he was very enthusiastic, but still with average language skills. We had a bad experience at the Old Fisherman restuarant. They host a seafood BBQ on Sunday nights, the food was very average and the staff service was dreadful. It's almost as if the are not trained in customer service...no drink service, no plate removal, etc. This restuarant should be the hotels premium venue but instead it's always empty...such a shame as it has the best spot in the hotel. The resort itself is clean, in a great location if you want to be on Patong Beach But not in the craziness that is the patong beach forefront. However not a great place if you cant walk stairs as there are a lot of them! Also we requested a King size bed, so they just put two king singles together ...which is fine except they don't have the right linen...the beds are bloody hard, like sleeping on rocks!

Room Tip: Room 228 was our final destination. In the front half of the hotel with a good view across Patong b...

Dear kath-le,

Thank you for choosing Novotel Resort for your stay in Phuket.
As you have noticed, the team and I all strive to provide friendly and efficient service.
We hope you enjoyed the festivities on New Year Eve as we wanted to make this night unique for you. And I believe it was.
However, we failed to meet your expectation while dining at Old Fisherman restaurant and I would like to apologize.
The product so as the service was not at the level previously experienced and this is why, to be honest, we need to work on a brand new concept.
I can't tell you more yet but I hope you will give us the chance to welcome you back so that you can see by yourself the change.
We'll make sure this time you get a softer king size bed with proper linen. Eventually in building 2 if you like the beautiful view over Patong from there.

Sincerely yours,

Julien Otzenberger

My girlfriend and I stayed at other Accor properties in Thailand and this one was a big let down. Outdated. Poor service. Not good value for couples. The resort food puts an emphasis on quantity over quality and I ended up sick for 3 days.

We really liked the location overlooking the beach in Patong with a short walk to Bangla. Took the advise of other reviewers and booked a sea view room - ending up in the 500s. Most of the view was blocked by the towering lobby and palm trees.

Julien the manager says the resort is traditional thai style and was renovated in 2007. The rooms and property felt outdated and cheaply designed. Only hotel on the vacation where I had to carry my bags to the room after they were sitting in the lobby for 30 minutes.

We tried the breakfast buffet once. Cheap and included massive amounts of bread and greasy foods. Ended up going down the hill to Baan Kalim for all our other meals.

The biggest let down was the New Years Eve buffet on our last night. It was required with our stay and cost 5,500 baht per person. To our surprise alcohol was not included. There was an elephant at the entrance which was a highlight. Lots of carnival games for kids. I let my guard down that night and had a few drinks, followed by seafood at the buffet. The next morning I was throwing up violently, fever and relentless diarrhea. My girlfriend did not get sick but she stuck to pasta saying nothing at the buffet stood out. Julien insured me that they use the highest quality food and took my information upon checkout but I have not heard from him.

We did not use the pool because there were never any chairs available and too many screaming kids running around. The adult pools close at 7:00pm for cleaning every day. The tennis court looked nice but the day we had it booked I was poisoned from their buffet. The speedboat tour of James Bond Island we booked through the hotel was first class.

I will never be back and hope this review helps other traveling couples take their money elsewhere!

Dear Jason H,

Thank you for giving us the chance to welcome you at Novotel Phuket Resort.
At Novotel, we strive to provide friendly and efficient service; therefore, your feedback is very important to us.
We have noted your comments and would like to sincerely apologize for not being able to meet your expectations.
However, please allow me to clarify few points as follow;
On contrary of what you think, we do focus on food quality rather than on quantity. Moreover, I have shared your comment with our Food and Beverage Manager and he ensured me that none of our guests were sick after having experienced our seafood buffet. Therefore, the sickness described might have been caused by food eaten outside, or simply by ice should you had any drink out of the hotel.
For your information, most of the rooms situated in the building 5 are offering sea view, which can be obstructed somehow by palm trees depending on the room number. However, the lobby itself doesn’t have any effect on the view offered.
Finally, Novotel is a family friendly hotel and we want the kids so as the parents to enjoy their stay. And this is actually the reason why the third pool is dedicated to them. Nevertheless, too other pools are available for those who more likely looking for peace and rest.
Hoping this feedback finds you well, I do believe that people who looked at my answer will give us the chance to welcome them as guest satisfaction has no price for us.

Thanks in advance for your kind understanding and best regards,

Julien Otzenberger

My grandma and I spent two nights in this wonderful property and were absolutely amazed.

The view is stunning and all the main facilities are easy to access and well maintained.

I am loyal member of Le Club Accor and I can easily compare the standards of this Novotel to Sofitel, the category above.

I wanted to thank especially Pornpit from the Front desk for her professionalism and dedication for hospitality.

Alex

We've just spent a week for Christmas.
The property is very nice with a fantastic view. Probably one of the best sunset in this area.
It's really a family hotel which was appreciated by my son.
The team organize leisure activities like Thai boxing, tennis lessons & many others.
A big thank you to Julien & Simon who made our stay perfect.
