1. don't expect too much on this hotel or don't trust too much photos provided by hotel itself
in terms of facilities and room layout.
2. the good things are friendly staff and free shuttle service. It's about 30 minus from hotel to patong beach..they will drop you at ocean plaza, the central area..
3. hotel is located at beach called "kalim bay" and is belong to muslin area..quiet peaceful & serene...

I recently spent some time at the Bamboo Beach Hotel & Spa in Patong, Phuket, and had a wonderful time.

The staff is very friendly and happy to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The food at the hotel Restaurant is of good quality, and is not as over priced as I have seen at some of the other resorts.

This is not a 5 star hotel by any means, but I would recommend it to travellers who want to enjoy a good time in Phuket without any hassles. It is clean and comfortable, within walking distance from Patong beach, and not as noisy.

Should you prefer to not walk into town, there is a daily shuttle service that runs between the hotel and Patong beach 4 times a day without any additional cost to the guest/s.

Had a wonderful time, thank you to Cristine, Ivan and all other hotel staff.

We liked this hotel so much!!!
The hotel even provides with free shuttle, which is very convenient if you want to go to the beach;
Breakfasts were very tasty; wi-fi was also very good
Overall, everything was perfect - the service, the staff, the location etc! I reccomend this hotel to everybody.

I had booked a quad room 6 months earlier, however, when we checked in they had none so the holiday began with me and my 11 yr old in one room, and hubby in another 2 doors away.
The qaud room we got the next day was awful, dated furniture, showers hanging off the wall , no bedside tables in the double and the best was when I drew back the curtain to reveal that the window was back to back with a window of the workers hostel, so the curtains had to remain closed at all times. The wall tiles in the batthroom were dirty, the aircon leaked once in the twin room, all over the floor, then in the double , soaking our bed and forcing us to change rooms at 11pm when we had an early trip the next day.
The second room was slightly better, although the bathroom tiles were again smeared with who knows what and the rooms had dustballs everywhere. There were hairs in the shower that we had not even used yet!
room cleaning was a lottery, every single day they forgot to replace loo roll, or coffee, or towels or even coffee cups, we had to ask for these things every day at reception. I think toilet roll is rationed there as if they see you have half a roll left, they give you no more!
Hard beds, lumpy pillows, and a bland boring breakfast, and one morning they even had no bread, so even toast was off!
Tap on sink was so wobbly we had to use two hands, one to hold it steady and the other to turn it on.
room for four had virtually no wardrobe space
rooms get cleaned far too late, sometimes as late as 4.30-5.00 when we really wanted to shower
dead cockroach on our verandah wasnt cleaned up for 4 days !
in summary, not clean enough, needs more money investing in updating furniture, on a plus side, staff were friendly and very helpful. Also pool area nice, if only the rooms were kept as clean as the pool area!

Room Tip: ask if the room has windows !! Not all of them do

Really cheap.

I spent my 21st birthday here with 6 other friends and had 3 rooms in total.

I would recommend this to people on a budget who are travelling in big groups

My room was on the ground floor right beside the pool, it turned out to be exactly like the pictures. We paid very little and felt that we got much more out of it. We didn't spend much time in there but when we did, the staff made our beds well, the room was clean, the shower was decent though the sink was a bit too high but it didn't really matter. The staff were polite and surprised me with a cake and sang me a song on my birthday. Also, they helped me warm up my thai beef noodle soup.

What I really liked besides the pool, decent wifi was also the location. On good days, we could walk to the centre of patong. Right outside the hotel was Kalim beach that was away from the madness. Also there were roadside food stalls that were much cheaper than the ones at patong which are opened between 4pm-8 or 9pm. The pad thai and pancake was decent.

The more awesome foods were the grilled chicken and beef noodles ( i swear, it was the best especially for hangovers).

The little roadside stalls were very cute and i liked that there were locals who also eating there, so im guessing it should be pretty decent/good thai food.
were
The egg mussel dish wasnt very good though, in fact it was very plain though it was thoroughly cooked and was very crispy.

Though it cost 200 baht to get into Patong but we usually only take the tuktuk twice a day ( once to get into patong and once to get back t the hotel) and since we split the cost among 5-7 people, it didnt amount to much.

The beds were kinda springy, wasn't very good for the back but i didnt mind, i still had no problems sleeping even tho i'm generally sensitive to bed springs and did share the bed with 2 other girls. My friends bed in the 2nd floor was very hard and good to sleep on.

My friends did the spa massage twice at the hotels and they highly recommended it. It was about 350 baht for an hour, they'll come to your room and do it. But being on a budget, the rest of us went to Real Massage at Patong to satisfy our massage needs at 200 baht.

There's also a massage place at the back alley between bamboo beach and the other hotel - orchid some thing... i dont think they get a lot of customers, we walked pass their place every day and they seemed friendly but we never had the time to get a massage there but i would think that it might be cheaper. But of course getting a massage on ur hotel bed would be doubly awesome, i couldnt do it as i shared the queen size bed with 2 other friends.

A few things that could be improved on:

The wifi kept coming on and off sporadically for about 2 days during our 6 day stay.

On the last day, they wanted to charge us 800 baht for the taxi ride back to the airport when the stated amount was 600 baht. The taxi company stated that the 600 baht doesnt include baggage which is another 200 baht. rubbish, since we got to Bamboo beach from the airport paying 650 baht and with 5 passengers and a ton of luggage. I felt that the staff should have argued more for us but after much annoyance and obvious dissatisfaction on our part, we managed to convince the staff to get the said price of 600 baht.

This situation could have been avoided if the taxi company and the staff in bamboo beach had better communication. The price should not change especially since it was stated. We felt like we were getting ripped off and it made me even more pissed since we stayed there for such a long time and spent money at their restaurant and bar. It made it seem like they didn't care even tho im aware it was the taxi company that was being a difficult.

That said, I would still go back to this hotel. It was far enough from the madness at Patong, clean, great staff except for that one incident and very memorable.

Thanks Bamboo beach !

Room Tip: choose the rooms on the ground level beside the pool. We got room 9 which i felt was the best locati...

My friends and I rented two adjoining rooms here during our recent stay in Patong. While the location is quiet, has fast internet and the pool looks nice enough, I think that's probably all it has going for it.

Of the two rooms, only one had an actual bathtub/shower, which is fine, except that in the second room the shower head is literally right over the toilet. I've stayed in plenty of hotels in SE Asia and I am used to the shared space for showers and toilets, but you are practically standing on the toilet to shower. There were also plenty of small insects in the bathroom crawling all over everything. The toilet in the second room didn't smell too bad, but the other bathroom perpetually smelled of sewage. One of the bathroom windows was covered from the outside by some sort of paper or wood glued to the outside. There were stains everywhere in the tub and on the walls of the bathrooms.

The bed linens looked kind of grimy, as though they had not been rinsed thoroughly and the towels were stained. Additionally, the A/C fan stopped pumping out air, so even though it sounded as though it was working, no cool air reached the bed. We let the front desk know but the problem was never completely corrected. The beds were not uncomfortable. There are many TV channels, but very few in English (the good movie channels were broadcast in Russian).

There is a free breakfast buffet, but the selection was poor. We went down to eat with maybe 1 hour left for breakfast, and none of the hot menu items were being replenished, nor were the croissants or fruits (and I never saw this happen in the 30 minutes we were eating). The cook making the eggs seemed confused and completely omitted one of our group's order and made a second person's egg completely different from requested.

Although the location is quiet, it is a long walk from the action of Patong along a road that doesn't seem ideal for pedestrians. I can't say I will stay here again.

Room Tip: I would not select this hotel if you would like a room that is truly good
