“Cheap and not particularly cheerful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2014

Previous reviewers of this restaurant have lower expectations than I do, I guess. I ate here twice and review it in the context of a budget eatery:

PROS - on the beach, nice sunset, excellent Thai menu (especially the fried red curry) and inexpensive. If you like Singapore-style food centres where you can eat for just a few dollars then you will like this place and its surroundings (although being by the beach it is still not the cheapest one). Service is fast, efficient and casual. Personally as an adult I can think of better places to be for dinner but this would suit backpackers or those looking for something cheap and cheerful

CONS - the menu is far too large for quality to be manageable (presumably sourced from other nearby restaurants) so predictably the western food is terrible and one guest got food poisoning from the burger (she ate nothing else with us). You will also be hounded by dozens of street hawkers here too - which is fine since most are graceful and less fortunate than us - but one was incredibly rude/persistent (repeatedly punching one of my guests in the arm until being given money to go away) and the Wai Thai staff where absolutely okay with this.

Overall we regretted taking the family here.

“Friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

The staff were so welcoming like they understood we have a choice, unlike last night (we dined elsewhere and the service was terrible) . Very attentive here, food pretty good and reasonably priced. We felt like they really appreciated us dining there and cheekily said "see you tomorrow night" when we left which we thought was funny.

The little girls selling the flower necklaces are really annoying and get angry when you don't want to buy one. Not the fault of the restaurant but be prepared for it. The other sellers pretty much just move on as soon as you say no.

“Great sunset, food @ service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014 via mobile

My family and I visited this place on advice from trip advisor. After walking through the markets for a couple pf hours. The sea breeze at wai Thai was as cool as the beer. Food was great and they cater for young kids which was even better.

“By the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014 via mobile

This place is situated at the northern end of Patong beach, not the southern end as depicted in the map on TA. It is nothing fancy that's for sure. However, the beer is cold, cocktails tasty and the best spring rolls around. Recommend watching the sunset from here,

“Dinner and drinks on the beach.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

Went searching for this place after many recommendations on T/A. Very easy to find......on the beach. We arrived late in the afternoon in readiness for the sunset. Some cold beers, a creamy cocktail, spring rolls and satays were a good start to the night. The spring rolls were so good we ordered more. We watched the sun set over the horizon ( something different for us as the sun rises over our beaches) and had a few more coldies. A very pleasant way to while away an hour or two.
