“Don't bother: mediocre food, haphazard service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2012

A group of 5 of us went to the Royal Kitchen for dinner on the recommendation of the La Flora hotel. Big mistake. The restaurant is located on the 25th floor of the run down Royal Paradise hotel. The views through the dirty windows are probably the best thing about this place. The service is confused and unable to explain dishes. A Peking Duck was ordered and not delivered in the standard way with only the skin made available for pancakes. The rest reappeared later fried into oblivion. Some beef dishes were edible but lukewarm.

While there were plenty of staff around (only 4 tables in this huge restaurant were occupied and all by western tourists which should have been a warning already) service was confused and haphazard.

Prices are reasonably high and by no stretch of the imagination match the quality of the food. Most take-aways will serve better food.

“Best View, Best Peking Duck”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2011

I have eaten here a number of times & the peking duck pancakes are the best & plentiful. Only gripe is they don't do the lettuce leaf san chow bow with the left over duck meat but you can have it with steamed vegetables in an oyster or bbq sauce. It is quite a large restaurant & the few times I have been there there were plenty of tables available especially near the windows. I have australian friends that live in Patong & they often treat themselves here just for the Peking Duck experience.

“the non-dinner from hell”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2010

on 26th Sept (sunday), 5 of us staying at the Royal Paradise Hotel made reservations at this restaurant on the 25th floor of the hotel. it is advertised as one of the top ten chinese restaurants in Phuket, specialising in suckling pig and peking duck.. and we were in the mood for some pork! here's what happened:

7:30 - arrived and took our seats
7:45 - received drinks menu after going and asking for one
8:00 - received drinks and food menu, only after insisting on being given a menu!
8:05 - informed that peking duck was no longer available, since everyone around us were tucking away happily into their ducks. we placed an order for scallops
8:20 - soup served, one small bowl each. immediately consumed
8:30 - suckling pig arrives. its half cold, not properly heated coming out of the freezer, and the skin is rubbery, and the meat still sweating from melting ice. the waiter hovers, asks us if it is ok. we say NO. he says, he will replace it, and removes pig. we say bring the other dishes.. our shrimps, vegetables and scallops. he says yes.
8:50 - the next table, who arrived well after us, happily gorging themselves with their 5 dishes, ordered after us. we sit and twiddle our thumbs, and ask for the dishes to be served immediately. no response from the waiters.
8:55 - i walk to the kitchen, and notice nothing much is happening there... and am told the chef is on leave, and the assistant chef is doing his best.. and there are only 3 occupied tables by this time.. the rest have left with full tummies
9:00 - we walk out, head down to another restaurant and have dinner

enough said.

“Don't miss this fantastic dining experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2009

From the moment you enter the hotel, nothing is too much trouble. An escort to the 24th floor and the restaurant. Fantastic views over the town and excellent atmosphere.
If I had one critisism it would be the size of the portions. They are enormous and the food was exquisite. Service was 2nd to none and overall an amazing experience.
Value for money was incredible and I would definitely return the next time I am in the area.
Well done royal kitchen and thank you.
