“Kelly's hotel is a great place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

I reserved the deluxe room at the 3rd floor and got exactly what i wanted. I booked for 8 days and ended up prolonging my stay for 5 more days. The hotel has personality because of the owner and his wife plus staff. They give you great advice about Phuket and offer good tours. Really worth your money, no scam here. Your better off booking a tour here then be at the mercy of the little shops you find everywhere in Patong. Plus i recommend reservin the cabdriver Koi :) Great nice girl who speaks good English and takes you everywhere you want. I will defenitly book here again next time i will be visiting Phuket. I just hope they will still be there ;)
@Dan: thank you very much for the great stay and the interesting talks. You know what you are talkin about. Best of luck with writing!! Also many thanks to your wife and the rest of your staff.
Greetings from Manuel!

I stayed here for a week 12-19-12 to 12-26-12 What a great hotel !!!!
Dan and Tan are AWESOME the staff is amazing too they really take good car of you.
From being picked up from the airport to getting dropped back off was seamless Dan and Tan arranged for everything so I would not get scammed which is very common by the airport Taxis.
The Hotel is very nice great room, air conditioning, patio, cool pool and a nice view. The hotel is also close to evrything but far enough away to have peace and quiet.
Food and beer were inexpensive and awesome also so that is Why I started my day in the lobby with the breakfast and A is a great cook and very helpful. They also have a laundry service which was really nice. Booked a few tours through the Hotel and evrything was perfect from the pricing to the service so definitely book your tours here. I especialy enjoyed the conversations daily with Dan, he is such a wealth of information.

Thanks again Dan and Tan I will definitely be back and recomend to everyone I know to stay with you.

See you next time,
Carl

Stayed 4 nights in the beginning of December with 2 other mates, first time stay in Thailand, looking forward to come back and do all the things we didn't have time to fit into our short stay. Prior to arrival everything was organised with Tan/Dan by email, rooms reserved and taxi from the airport to Hotel. We arrived very late in the evening but we were still welcomed by Aye who showed us to our room and answered all of our questions. As for the rooms they were very spacious and the beds were comfortable and the room was cleaned daily. We booked our tour to James bond island through Tan, we were surprised to notice that we paid much less than the other people on our tour. The following day Dan was great in helping us organise things to do that met our interests he helped us organise a driver to take us shooting, ATV riding and an interesting trip to a snake farm.

Look Forward to coming back to see and do more things we couldn't fit in to our short stay.

Stayed 7 days 6 nights from Dec 5-11. Everything was arranged by emailing Dan/Tan, their replies were always very prompt. Taxi pick up from and to the airport was also arranged directly with the hotel. That was convenient & provided a good piece of mind. Note that due to traffic conditions in Phuket, the ride from the airport to the hotel was 45 minutes, & from the hotel to the airport was 1 hour 10 minutes, so keep in mind of traffic jam, as it can happen anytime anywhere. We stayed at the couple's penthouse. View was perfect, nothing blocking at all, one balcony had mountain view, the other had ocean view. Keep in mind this is not a 5 star hotel, so do not expect a very fancy interior design of the suite. We stayed at room 502 & must say the king size bed was very comfortable. The suite was big for 2 people. There is a water boiler with free instant coffee/tea in the room. They also provide 2 bottled waters each day for free. There is a digital save, large enough to put our 2 laptops, plus a bunch of stuff. The hotel also offered laundry service for a fee ($120 baht per 1 kg), and we did use that too. It is ready the next day, very convenient. There is a 7/11 down the street, super short walk. The only thing in the room that needed improvement was the light bulbs, as they keep going out, & I had to ask Dan/Tan to replace a few times, especially in the bathroom, there was 2 nights when it was so hard to see when showering. Hotel is close walking distance to Jungceylong Mall, it's a huge shopping mall with lots of good restaurants, spa/massage shops, souvenir stores, and The Big C, which is like the Walmart, they sell everything at very cheap reasonable prices. Given the traffic around Patong area, for us to walk from the hotel to Patong Beach (to get right to the water) is 20 minutes. Not sure how other reviewers were saying it only took them 10 minutes, maybe when they went, the roads did not have as much traffic. We found it at times dangerous to walk across streets and had to just stand & wait, since the vehicles there would never stop for pedestrians like the way they do in North America. Dan/Tan also helped arranged activity booking for us when we asked. We went for a half day city tour, with private taxi arranged by hotel, so it was very safe. We went to have the buffet and show at Phuket Fanta-Sea. This is a show with like 20 elephants on stage doing some cool tricks, totally worth seeing. We also went for elephant ride, again with hotel pick up/drop off, so easy. On our own, we went to watch Mui-Thai kick-boxing, it's the real thing, the boxing stadium is right by Jungceylong Mall. Weather was 30 degrees celcius each day sunny, it did get cloudy the last couple days, but was still very hot. Overall the week stay in Kelly's was a good budget choice, it's location was convenient enough & we never felt uncomfortable out in the streets in the evening. Patong Beach was extremely crowded, so if I go to Phuket again in the future, may actually try to stay at Karon or Kata Beach area, as they seem more relaxed. If you want a fun Phuket vacation and want to save some money, Kelly's is definitely a great choice. If you don't care about money much and want to be at beach front, then you can stay at the 4-5 star hotels there, without any view, a regular room would cost 2.5 times more than a regular room at Kelly's. Also, our flight out was in the evening, and Dan/Tan was totally ok to let us check out late at 3pm with no extra charge. We just let them know in advance, and they would try to accommodate. You will find Kelly's management and staff are way more personal than chain hotels, and you are not treated like a number at all. Oh, on a last note, there's a lot of construction everywhere in Phuket, and right next to Kelly's is a site building a new hotel, so it can be loud. If you cannot stand noise, beware, but for us, we just slept through it, as we didn't mind it too much. I chose to stay at Kelly's based on reviews I read on Trip Advisor, so I want to make sure I share my experience too.

Room Tip: Pay more and stay in the Penthouse suites, it's definitely worth it due to the view.

Hi thanks for review.
This is a very long review, first of all you got so much information on just about everything you want to know about Phuket on check in all free of course, now that’s 5 star service, lots of money saving information on things like tours and trips half priced compared to other hotels, You got the free use of all my contacts to get you started off day one, a free wi fi code, you took all this free information that is impossible to get when you step off a plane, it took us years to learn all this, is this not unbelievable 10 star service, not one other hotel give you this information certainly NOT a so called 5 star with the fancy interior, they take your credit card and give you a key and show you a room and point out the tour booth that's going to load up prices on all your tours, this is help to pay for booking companies commissions, this alone can cost a family of four, thousands of Baht is this not service.
Keep in mind it’s not a 5 star hotel you say, do not expect a fancy interior design, it’s actually better, You forgot to say you got the penthouse for free because of our generosity, you were booked into a much cheaper room 1-700 Baht per night and got a 3-000 Baht penthouse because someone failed to check out of room you booked because they had an accident, I generously left you there and should have put you in original room you booked, but didn’t , the interior is fantastic there is nothing in Thailand to compare to that room for price and quality, where do you get your values from or is it just part of the Y and me generation just wanting more for cheaper, plus you had a beautiful bath room with a bath which you enjoyed, and the water cost alone is more than the room you originally booked, surely you didn’t think you could get a room like this on the price you paid, you got a great one off deal, fantastic value that escaped you or you just took it for granted.
Plus as you mention you never got charged for late checkout, plus a half priced penthouse, saved thousands of baht on tours and got fantastic service and value, yet strangely you marked both value and service down, how does that work, is it just lack of knowledge or todays people..

You mention 5 star all that means is how a room is built, it’s a guide to facilities in rooms, used before the internet got compromised by the large booking companies and claimed 5 star was something special like big flash foyers, it’s not about service or anything else, service you will be charged for, and you got a lot more service with us than you would with any so called 5 star hotel, but you did mention that.

I wish someone would tell us what extra service is or is that just people having a say, you got more than the value of what you paid for by a lot of dollars, you have to work in this industry or felt the fear of losing your own money to know or understand true value and it gets mentioned to many times in naive reviews, and believe me there is very little profit, today’s consumers want everything cheaper and cheaper, but can’t do the job, we have to continually remind people if they want great family hotels like Kelly’s we have to make a profit or we end up like all the family business consumed by the big impersonal chains, then you will really pay, and that’s the way its heading, they already pirate our web sites by saying were booked out, I say to all please understand what you blog.
And on top of all the great service and value the saving on tours alone was also enough to get your room for free, how good was that, so called 5 star hotel do not supply you with any of this free great value service, they charge double for tours, and the naive pay.
And the light globes, write to the company and the dodgy politician that stipulated we must use those useless energy saver globes, they say 3 years long life, more like 3 weeks, they don't work with dimmer switches, We have changed back to the old style globes.
Your very precise with walk to beach right to the water’s edge from Kelly's to the beach, other reviewers maybe aren't so pedantic they enjoy the walk its healthy, or they didn't stop to look at all the many shops, and really who cares you’re on holidays enjoy yourself and don't sweat the small stuff, you missed a lot of other more important precise stuff.
You recommend kata karon beach as better, like all reviewers your just guessing, there is a lot of reasons patong is more popular, in Kata the streets are very narrow and dangerous and so is the beach with its drop off and rips, and yes you have to wait to cross the road but that's the same all over the world isn't it, and its Thailand not nth America, we have a lot more traffic and imagining stopping for every person that wants to cross a road, traffic would come to a standstill, and pedestrian lights expensive for here, Thais have their own rules you have to understand them.
All the entertainment is in patong, and those that stay outside in Kata/Karon have to pay for taxis to travel back to patong, so where is the value, this is the downside of reviewing and why I answer to them, next time those tourist come they stay in patong because it cost them a fortune travelling back and forth, plus there unhappy at missing all the nightly shows in Jongceylon mall, Bangla road and the Fanta sea and Lady boy shows, all the night life and night clubs, you have to get it right if you’re going to write reviews.
You say over all it was a good budget choice, that was an understatement it was a bargain of a lifetime, love to know what you compared us with, I think some reviewers just don't understand the value of hotels, or they just like to have a say about something they don’t truly understand.
And you nailed it on this one, a regular hotel on the beach has no view and their all so called 5 star hotels, none of them have views and miles from the shopping Centre, costs 2-3 times more in price, give you no information unless they can make a buck, and nowhere near as good for value or service, especially so if you include tours and extras like service fees on top, more likely cost 4 times more when you get into all the hidden extra charges like service fees, and rooms the same, without the large useless foyer.

Thanks For giving me a chance to straighten out the facts.

We had a lovely stay, the taxi pick up arranged by the hotel went seamlessly and was reasonably priced. The rooms were kept clean and tidy. The whole stay was relaxed and comfortable. It's a five minute walk to Bangla Road and another five to the beach. Kelly's organised the trips and they were good value. Didn't stay in the penthouse but was shown around and will do next time. Well done Kelly's keep it up.

This was our second stay at Kelly's over a period of 12 months, and nothing changed. Dan and Tan are still the same friendly, helpful people. The price of our room stayed the same, and the rest of the Kelly staff are still as friendly as ever. Aye is a new addition to the staff...what a nice young man is he.
Booking daytrips through Dan or Tan are so much cheaper than booking through agents.
People please remember to tell Dan or Tan if you experience any problems with their service, or if something is wrong in your room. They will make sure the problem get sorted out immediately. So many people complain on Trip Advisor about small problems that could have been sorted out if they just reported it.

Dan & Tan, as the last time we stayed at Kelly's and our transport was a scooter, we had a wonderful time again in Phuket (this time with our little rent Jeep) It was always a pleasure to return to the hotel after a very busy day in and around Phuket. Resting on the King size bed in our clean room, or having a little picknic on the balcony all made our stay a memorable one.

Seeing Tan's smiling face first thing in the morning, and having a short chat with Dan was a good start for every day we stayed.

Should we visit Phuket ever again....Kelly's Hotel will be our home, without any doubt.

NB Kelly's hotel is definetaly not for Snobs or people who are looking to find something to complain about. It is rather a hotel were easy going, life loving and happy people will enjoy their stay.

Loved this place, loved the staff, loved the location.. We got airport pick up. All on time and well priced .. Dan is great fun with a good sense of humour .. People who slate on here, are just snobs and need to get a sense of humour and a personality ..!!

Room was good we had penthouse !! Decent views very big room.. The only thing that let it down was the cleaner never dusted and I wrote my name into the cupboard above the fridge.. Apart from that, beds and towels were changed daily.. Food and breakfast was good..

This place reminded me of a top rated back packers, with a lot better rooms. Dan says its home you can do want u want here and no want gives a dam! Very very true mate !! Great place to stay .. Everything I asked of dan and tan and aye they did!! I asked if we use the room to late in day as we weren't leaving for flight till 8 pm.. Dan said use it till when u want ill get cleaner to do it first thing .. Excellent and no charge!!

Tan always laughing and smiled.. Aye was caretaker, pool boy, chef, barmen, and part time cleaner just brilliant .. A well run family hotel and we will see u next year pal !!!
