Have stayed in the Raya Buri Hotel (not to be confused with Raya Buri Beach Club) twice now, each time intending to stay for 4 or 5 nights and inevitably extending my stay, this year, to just under a month.
Having traveled extensively through Thailand the Raya Buri has set the benchmark for affordable luxury. The hotel is conveniently located 5 mins walk from Bangla Road (where all the action is!) and 30 secs from the beach. Each time I have travelled to Phuket I have looked at other places to stay but feel nothing comes close to the quality of the Raya Buri, especially for the price !
Bedrooms are well appointed with top quality fixtures and fittings; the superior rooms boast lovely powerful walk in rain showers, HUGE beds and luxurious Egyptian cotton linen. All rooms are tastefully appointed with sunken spot lights, high gloss tiled floors and sinks set in marble. And are like new !
Expect all the usual Thai hospitality, with welcoming smiles and bows on arrival - refreshing 'froot' drink and cold towels. By the end of my stay I was on first name terms with most the staff who could not do enough to help me !
Rooftop has a Jacuzzi and Sauna from which you can admire the views of the coast. Only disappointment for some is the lack of swimming pool, though rumour has it one is on its way...
Soi next to hotel does have a few bars - a good place to start a night out if you want to go drinking - but are generally not too noisy - yes, some rooms you will hear cries of "welcome! welcome! Where you going ?" but this only seemed to entice me to want to go out even more... and certainly did not disturb my sleep.
Breakfast was included in my room price, plus bonus dinner for every 3 nights I stayed - result! Whilst the buffet was perhaps not as comprehensive as some 5* hotels, it was pretty good - expect cereal, toast, fruit, eggs, bacon/sausage (though I gave these a miss) tea, coffee and juice. Plus the usual Thai noodle/rice based dish.
Raya Buri does charge an unregistered guest fee - but this is not necessarily a bad thing: the hotel seems to attract a more discerning type of customer as a result and so does not have the feel of a sleezy motel like some of the other places to stay in Patong. If you do bring back a guest (almost inevitable if you head to Bangla Road... !) staff are still professional and smiles all round!
I will certainly return to Patong and the Raya Buri in a year, if not sooner. I will sadly miss the hotel and staff - cannot recommend enough - thank you Raya Buri for making my holiday !
