“Noisy but good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

Great location right in the heart of Patong but this does mean there is noise coming from everywhere - from the road, from the rooms, from the construction next door etc.
The pool is pretty good - put up umbrellas yourself during the day (they're behind the bar) because the day-time sunlight can be baking. The pina coladas are absolutely delicious. The roof-top pool has a great view but absolutely no shade so far too hot during the day.
Breakfast was okay - the cooked-to-order omelette was absolutely delicious - everything else was pretty forgettable.
The rooms are dated but comfortable - the window from the shower into the bedroom is a weird feature. The walls are very thin - I heard the woman in the room next to me in the throws of passion several nights in a row.
If you want to be in the heart of Patong but still want to be able to swim in a pool and have a (relatively) quiet nights sleep it's a good budget option.

Room Tip: The rooms in the main reception building are far better than the rooms in the other building.

Stayed at the Amata for 13 nights in October. Had a room in the new Wing on the 8th floor, a bit close to the main road. The room was very nice and the bathroom modern. The breakfast was ok but a bit unsafe with windows open close to the buffet and the food not hot enough. The pool was nice and there was a bar for beer and Breezers. The position was good with 10 minute walk to beach and about the same to Jungceylon. The staff were nice. Overall enjoyed our stay.

Stayed at Amata for 7 nights in October. Reception and Porters very helpful. Breakfast is about 5 out of 10. Make sure you get a room in the new wing. Good size rooms in both sections by old part a bit smelly. Overall enjoyed my stay and the pool very refreshing

Rooms were well equipped with air con, wifi and space for my friend and I. The hallway was a bit noisy with guests disregarding other patrons. Plenty of food options around and walking distance to the beach and shopping centre.

We stayed here as a family (2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 children) and loved it in a family room and one other hotel room. The location and pool was great. The main reason we loved this hotel so much was the family room they had. We couldn't have asked for a better size. We often find accommodation difficult to find as we usually have to get 3 rooms and it can get expensive. But they had a very affordable family room with a separate main bedroom and two beds in the living area, plus another living area and kitchen and two bathrooms. The living area came in handy when we ordered pizza one night and we didn't have to eat on the beds. All in all, a great stay.

My girlfriend and I stayed for 7 nights in Feb 2013. We had a room in the new building (level 3 or 4). I cannot comment much on the old building as we only went into this area to go to reception and for the breakfast in the morning, the ground level is well maintained and clean. The new building where we stayed was modern and clean with a balcony overlooking the pool. Our favourite part about the new building was the rooftop pool which gives an amazing view over Patong beach, especially at sunset. We paid $110 a night for the room, so not the cheapest option in Patong however we felt the price matched the facilities well. The concierge were always very helpful and pleasant, smiling and greeting us every morning.

The only issue we had with service was when i called reception to have 2 pages (black & white ink) printed off because i needed them for our next flight. The first time i called i was told i they were unable to do this for me at all (not via email or via USB ). Instead i was told to go to a small shop next door, after going to the small shop and finding a disconnected printer (which i spent 15 minutes moving and connecting), there was no ink! Very frustrated i returned to the hotel and called reception, this time they allowed me to email the document through to them. By the time i got down to reception i waited about a minute for the pages to finally be printed and that was that. I only wonder why they couldn't have helped in the first place, 2 pages in the scheme of an $800AU booking, not much to ask...A SMALL blemish on an enjoyable week and good hotel.
