We have just returned from a fabulous stay at the Krabi Thai Village. As a base to explore Krabi and Ao Nang it was almost perfect. The rooms, staff and location were excellent. The room was spacious, gave wonderful views of the spectacular vegetation and were kept scrupulously clean. The pool was more than adequate for our needs and the staff there were always helpful, arranging our beds for the day from the comfort of the balcony when we needed them. The hotel was not without its faults: the amenities, food and beverages were over-priced. Don't be fooled by the "complimentary" meal; the "discount" still meant we were charged more than we could have got a meal and drinks for down the road - "complimentary" obviously has a different meaning in Thailand.

Staying at the Krabi Thai Village was the perfect location to explore Ao Nang and the surrounding area. Within minutes of the hotel we were able to find everything we wanted to make our holiday perfect. Ao Nang itself is just a 5 minute walk away and great food, fabulous excursions and all the other amenities the hotel offered available at a fraction of the price. Walk down and get a tuk tuk back, don't pay more than 40 baht.

You'll find your own favourites, but we found the food at the Royal Tandoor - wonderful, friendly service and lovely Thai and Indian food - and Patjawan's - superb, authentic Thai food - particularly good. Our rule of thumb was to avoid the glitzty, plastic tables and paper napkins gave better value for money and fantastic food. Don't pay for style over substance.

Just across the road from the KTV you could get all your laundry done for 70baht a kilo, washed and ironed. Better than 50p for a pair of knickers at the hotel and it was great coming home with almost no washing. You can get it done cheaper, but you have to remember where you've left it! Also the massage place across from the hotel was excellent and a quarter of the price charged by KTV.

Take a trip on the long-tailed boats to the surrounding islands. Book your own from the sea front. We had a beautiful day out doing what we wanted at our own pace, the boatman didn't rush us and took us where we wanted. The beach at Ao Nang is OK, but the sea isn't great and it was wonderful to see the clear seas the other islands provide, as well as the phenomenal scenery.

Overall we had a great time staying at the Krabi Thai Village. As a base to explore it was superb. Ao Nang is a bustling resort, providing everything you need from a holiday in Thailand, without the other "delights" of Thailand being in your face. We had a fantastic time and wouldn't hesitate to return, either to Krabi or The Krabi Thai Village.

This has to be the worst hotel in the world....it was so bad i had to check in to another hotel, my partner slept here and the next morning he had bed bug bites all over him....we stripped the bed to find a matress cover which was covered in blood and very very bad urine staines....we talked to the manager and she said....some people do have accidents and she can not be held responsible for the house keeping departments decisions to change the covers year on year....i was shocked and left the hotel for somewhere better pretty quickly.....which was the vouge..we search over 30 hotels in krabi and this is the BEST!!!! krabi thai village is not a 4 star hotel and is nowhere near it.....book it and you will have a holiday from hell.....good riddens to the worst hotel i ever stayed....

We will start with the good points : Large, comfortable room, cleaned regularly by friendly staff. All staff very friendly. The hotel is in a good position and an easy 10 mins walk into town but the restaurants directly across the road are very good.

Myself & my husband (in our early 40's) chose this hotel for relaxation and good pool area. This we did not get. The pool area is definately in need of a refurbishment. The beds & umbrellas were very grubby & dated and NOT enough to go around. On one occassion we had to sit on the concrete around the pool as no beds were free (or without towels placed on!) which you do not expect from a 4 star rated hotel (which it definately isn't). There is a great probelm with towels placed on beds and not being used for several hours.
The hotel is mainly occupied by families making the pool area crowded with noisy children who do not use the childrens pool provided.
The breakfast is adequate & we recommend the curries which were delicious and varied most mornings.
The air con in our room was very loud & we were unable to sleep on our first night. We reported this & engineers attempted to fix the problem, but to us it was just the same - take ear plugs! I fell in the room on the last day as the air con was turned on high and leaked all over the tiled floor. We were offered a bowl of fruit which was no good as it was our last day.
We stayed an extra 2 nights due to the dispute at the airport. Hope that every body got home OK who we spoke to. (We were looked after by Kuoni).
We also had a slight sewerage smell in the room as mentioned in earlier review but it wasn't too bad.

We would not return to this hotel.

Also, where were the 7 acres of gardens & Italian restaurant as mentioned in a couple of brochures I read prior to booking?

Krabi Thai Village Resort is a perfect hotel for families with small children. Good pool facilities.

However, there is room for improvement of the staffs skills in english. You can't be sure that you get what you order.

If you want to go on excursion it is a good idea to use the company "unseen excursion" at the hotel. It is value for money. If you are a group of 6 people or more it is possible to have your own private boat, when visiting Phi-Phi Island or Hong Island. We can strongly recommend that.

Dont use the massage center at the hotel. Use insted Massage Corner just across the street (actually in the alley behind Sawasdee restaurant).

And Sawasdee restaurant is a very good restaurant. Excellent thai food.

stayed at hotel during the bangkok airport crisis. front desk were very uninterested in clients plight and were more keen on getting them to stay longer at the same daily rate with no discount whilst other hotels dropped the price by around a third than advising them on how to arrange flights home. hotel itself was tired and jaded . we had two differnt rooms and both smelt of sewage so much so we checked out early ( still had to pay for night we didnt stay ) and moved to the brand new aonang cliff beach resort for half the price and 3 times the service and luxury .my advice - stay at one of the many lovely hotels in krabi and give this one a miss
