After being at the Maritime in Krabi, this hotel was a breath of fresh air. It is ideally located for you to be able to go out on the long boat taxis to other islands, you have walk around the town and are in an excellent location to get the free bus to the thai boxing on a friday night. The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. The food in the hotel was excellent as well. The blooming massage parlour that is just outside the hotel offers probably the cheapest and best massge myself and my husband had during our time in Thailand

We stayed at the Golden Beach for the first 5 nights of our July/August 2006 Holiday. We walked into the hotel ourselves and bargained for the rate which ended up being about AUD 57.

We liked the pool area, although the inside of the pool could have been cleaned more often, rooms were nice and cleaned nicely everyday.

We ate by the pool often and always enjoyed our meal, dinner was also nice but very slow, even buying a drink to listen to the music after eating elsewhere took ages.

We like Ao nang so much that we actually changed our plans and came back for the last 6 nights of our 20 day stay.

We also had older teenagers travelling with us and they all were happy to leave Phuket behind after 4 nights and return to the Golden Beach.

After staying at a beautiful resort on Phi Phi, we had to spent a night in Ao Nang in order to make our flight from Krabi the next day. We'd seen a nice review of Golden Beach in a magazine in our Phi Phi hotel and figured the hotel would be a suitable consolation prize for having to end our vacation. We were sadly mistaken and were pretty disappointed by the hotel. We stayed in hotel room - not a bungalow - and were turned off by the poorly-lit, mildew-odored room with a super-mushy bed.

We'd heard rave reviews of the restaurant - which, quite honestly, perplexed us. The service was painfully slow (others around us were complaining about the 45-minute wait for appetizers) and the food was bland and poorly-prepared.

The only really positive thing I can say about this hotel is the pool is quite pretty. But in all, this hotel was definitely not worth the $100 plus/night bill.
