Before I begin my review can I please stress that "Rimlay villas" is NOT in KRABI TOWN ... As the search on here suggests... This beautiful OASIS is approximately 10k from Krabi town & it's actually right on the beach... It is "NEW" as it only opened in December 2012 and is actually in Ao Nam Mao Bay ... When we arrived at Krabi bus station, the Taxi driver had to phone Rimlay Villas to ask where it actually was as it's such a hidden little GEM ...The beautiful owner "Nui" ( her nickname by the way) which means "little" as when you meet her you will understand why as she's a lovely petite Thai lady, who speaks very good English and is supported by some wonderful staff, who make you feel like you have known them forever... The accommodation is modern, very clean & bright, lovely crisp, clean, white cotton bedding & the pool is excellent .. The bungalows are divided into two semi-detached units with a screen between the unit balconies & seating area for a little extra privacy ... My Partner & I are are a middle aged British couple. We have been travelling for 4 months to a few different countries & we felt at Rimlay that we had saved the best till last, as all we wanted to do for the last leg of our epic journey was sleep, swim, eat & chill ... Which is exactly what Rimlay Villas is all about. We've met some lovely people here on our 10 night stay from all over the globe. Nui & her lovely staff have taken us to local markets on the weekend to buy wonderful fresh fish for BBQ evenings, which we thought was great as we didn't have transport to take ourselves. Nui or a member of her staff will take you into Ao Nang ( which we stayed at for one night but didn't like how busy it was, but plenty of bars, restaurants for a day or night out) twice a day 10/11am & 5pm free of charge or you can get the local bus (Song-Tao) which has Ao nang, Krabi etc written on the side of the vehicle & you just flag it down for 20 BHT p.p. each way... The menu at Rimlay is only small but that's not a problem as if there is something that you want & if it's not on the menu then they will try & get it for you ..Breakfast which is included has quite a choice .. Muesli, pancakes, toast & jam eggs, omlettes even Thai .... Whilst we were there Nui had just introduced meat pies ... We prefered Thai food & the salads but whatever we ate was very tasty & well presented & inexpensive..WARNING the beach is quite tidal & has many rocks so it is really only wise to swim at high tide, which I did at low tide it can go out as far as 500 metres. There are Mangroves so beyond the sand there is mud ... I had rock shoes with me which was great for rockpooling & finding lot's of sea life .. On one occassion I found a giant clam. We went for long beach walks & the beauty of this place is it's undiscovered...It was great to watch local fishermen going out in their boats & also wading out to sea with hand nets ... Another advantage for us was that the rooms have flat screen TV's with news channels & a great movie channel called HBO so most evenings we would go to bed at 10pm & watch a movie, which we loved ... If it's night life & parties you're looking for then this isn't the place to be. However if you want to organise your own entertainment like we did with other guests when we all bought fish, prawns, squid etc.& the staff set up a BBQ for us & allowed us to cook our own food along with lovely salads & jacket potatoes then this is the place. We enjoyed a couple of fun evenings like this ... We got up late & slept so good, listening to the waves lapping ... Idyllic! What a lovely way to end our travels soaking up the sun & recharging our batteries.. We would definately return here in the future.
All the bungalows are split into two units with seating on a covered balcony & they all have sea...
