Just got back from the Honeymoon from HELL staying at this place. There is massive construction being undertaken at the moment so unless you enjoy being woken up at 8am daily by the sound of circular saws and nail guns I suggest you stay away. The reception staff are rude and unfriendly and we were without power for a day and half, and had to spend one very uncomfortable night without air conditioning.

All this despite forking out for the best room they had available - the Grand Seaview Deluxe. The only thing it had a view of was construction. The toilet was so dimly lit you could hardly see yourself in the mirror.

One of the pools was dirty and filled with construction debris so you couldn't swim in it. At the other pool, if you're a woman expect to be perved on by an army of construction workers standing around looking at you. Our experience was SO BAD that we cut our honeymoon short by two days so we could get the hell out of Ao Nang and come home to Sydney. I would never, EVER recommend this hotel to anyone.

Krabi in general is not worth a visit, stick with Phuket where the beaches are clean.

I left this hotel with very mixed feelings! The hotel is under major renovations that were very intrusive to our stay and really they should have took the decision to close the place down during these renovations. (Our travel agent did advise us of the renovations but they were worse than we imagined). It was impossible to relax around the pool due to the constant noise from 8am till midnight everyday!.

The staff generally seemed very disinterested and there was no real effort to offer great customer service that is so standard in Thailand. The hotel also lacked the little extras that often are standard in Thailand and so ended up being very ordinary.

We upgraded to deluxe room which was ok but nothing special, opened out on terrace with direct pool access. Breakfast was dissapointing but pool service and hotel bar service was very good.

What saved it for us was the location of this hotel, it is just perfect! turn right for the beach and left for the town with its many shops and restaurants. Couple of reccommendations: Enjoy lunch and sunset drinks at "Fishermans", for an authentic Thai meal try out the market place at far end of town opposite Krabi Resort and "Mook 17" for massage (first place after Fishermans) family run and very friendly.

I think that once the renovations are complete the hotel will be great - my reccommendation to the hotel is get yourself a new managment team and send your team on some customer service training ASAP then take advantage of your wonderful location.

This was the second time my partner and I have stayed at Ao Nang Villa and compared to our previous stay this time was very disappointing.

We were not told by our booking agent about the major capital works/renovations that were happening at the hotel and this really affected our stay.

The building noise was so unpleasant you could not sit by the pool and there were only limited rooms available. If we had known about the major capital works/renovations and only 85 available rooms at the back of the hotel upon booking we most probably would have stayed somewhere else.

However, we chose Ao Nang Villa again because of its great location, friendly helpful staff and generous sized good rooms. Unfortunately this stay the quality was not there - the hotel management appears to be cutting back on costs. This time we were charged for a small bucket of ice, the buffet breakfast was very average, the wireless internet was expensive, there was no 'happy hour' , the 'in room' toiletries were very basic and not good quality. Also, unlike other hotels the management did not reward returning guests with special upgrades etc.

One can only hope that these problems will be addressed when the extensive renovations are completed.

I arrived at the Aonang Villa Resort having spent 5 days at Holiday Inn Phi Phi Island Resort. To say Aonang Villa was a disappointment is an understatement. On arrival the reception staff were totally disinterested. When I eventually checked in and got to my room I found the room safe was closed already so I called reception to get someone to open it so I could put my documentation and valuables in there and put my own combination number in - they acted like I'd asked for blood! After 2 hours somebody arrived and begrudgingly helped me then stood there waiting for a tip!?
Room was filthy, I couldn't open the windows as the room was above a stagnant pond and the insects were all over the place - large gaps between the wall and the window frame meant I still got bitten half to death on my first night. Outside the front of my room were the dustbins and delivery areas which meant a lot of noise both late at night and early in the morning.
Pools - quite nice pools but never any free sunbeds.
Food - distinctly average.
Resort - quite commercialised but not unpleasantly so. A great base for exploring the area and some great excursions to go on - I highly recommend the Phang Nga trip (James Bond Island) although it is a very long day.
Beach - pretty poor, deserted and tends to have litter blowing about.
On one of the excursions (the elephant trek) the minibus collected some people from Krabi Thai Village Resort (which had been my first choise but was booked up) and even just from seeing reception and a fleeting glimpse of the pool I became very jealous. If you can book that hotel instead, it's about the same price and looks ten times better.

We as a family have just come back from Krabi. We had two rooms connecting with pool view. We had a great holiday, the weather was fantastic even in low season, 5 minutes of rain over 8 days, the remainder was around 30 degrees C and reasonable humidity, which was brilliant considering the fact that it is low season and potentially wet!.
The rooms are big but nothing fancy, but just what you need for a Thai holiday. Don't turn the aircon up too high as you'll feel cold> The rooms were cleaned everyday, bottled water left free of charge and staff are all friendly.
We organised 3 day trips through the hotel and everything went very smoothly, the 4 island Krabi trip is great value and includes lunch, snorkelling and some great beaches. We also did the 2 hour elephant trek and the boys did the 1/2 day canoeing trip, which was fantastic through the mangroves and canyons.
The pool is clean and well attended for drinks and snacks, which are also very affordable. Once the renovations are complete it should be even better.
You are surrounded be many restaurants, shopping and massage places. Just up the road to the right from the main entrance of hotel is Pu Massage, they do the best oil body massage (1 hour) for 300baht. I tried the huts along the beach and didn't think they were near as good.
The long tail boats around to Railay for 100 baht one way is also
something else to do and great value.
The afternoon free coffee and cake is a nice touch also.
There are alot of new resorts being built but I would definitley
stay at Ao Nang Villas again as it is so central to everthing.
It is mainly couples and families staying at the hotel, so has something for everyone unless you're looking for a bucks trip!.
