“Excellent hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2012

We really enjoyed our stay at Aquamarine. Yes, it's a 5 minutes walk from the beach, but the pool, the room and the staff are worth the walk! Our room was nice and clean, the pool was warm and quiet and the staff was great. We took the package they offer on their website, with a dinner and an excursion. For the price, we couldn't ask for more. Great hotel for families and for couples.

The pros outweighed the cons during our stay. If we had more time to research beforehand I think we could have gotten a better place for the same money we spent here.

Pros:

-Good quiet location, not far from beach, restaurants, bars and shops
-Good breakfast buffet
-Nice clean pool
-Good housekeeping, shower water pressure, comfy beds
-Friendly staff
-Bottle water included
-Consistent, free wifi in our room (we were next to reception area)
-Easy scooter rental through reception

Cons:
-Pool bar area could use improvement; not very inviting or fun atmosphere
-Room was very dim; hard to read at night
-Air conditioning varied - one night it worked really well; the other two not very well at all
-Could use fan in room to keep mosquitoes at bay
-Shower design creates mess in bathroom; must move towels before taking shower
-Bathroom ceiling appeared to have considerable mold and cracks in it allowing mosquitoes to come in
-Taxi ride they arranged to airport for us was overpriced

I stayed here with 4 friends for 4 nights in a one bedroom family unit and a deluxe room. There was a promotion when I booked the hotel so we got 1 night’s stay free for every night we paid for. For the price we paid, the resort was beyond excellent.

The resort is sited in a peaceful area, a little further from Ao Nang centre (where the shops and restaurants are located) than most other hotels but is less than 5 minutes away by tuktuk or the shuttle bus. The free shuttle bus leaves the hotel at 11am, 12pm, 5pm, 6pm and 7pm. Tuktuks were always easy to get at the entrance and cost us THB20 each per trip. We didn’t try to walk or cycle about but there were enough bicycles available and they were all in good shape.

The airport transfer for THB600 was a great option for the 5 of us. We took the minibus to and from the airport.

The rooms are spacious, with much more space than many of the hotels in the city centre. This is probably one of the best benefits of staying a little out of the way. The photos of the rooms on their website are pretty accurate. Each of our rooms had a safe, which was very useful. The one bedroom family unit had an extra sink and microwave oven outside the toilet, as well as a table and 3 chairs. Our sheets, towels and chairs had a few stains on them but these were not too bothersome. Our rooms were cleaned and towels changed daily.

The buffet breakfast was very satisfying with bacon & sausages, bread and pastry, cereals, fruits etc. There was also the usual egg station.

The pool is not bad, only used it once though. The water was warm (which I liked). It was nice to have the pool just a few steps away from our rooms and ample supply of beach towels from the reception.

The staff was polite and pleasant and spoke basic English. They responded promptly to emails. The free Wifi worked for us (we were in the block nearest to the restaurant).

All in, we had a great stay at this resort and would be happy to be back.

We travelled to the hotel for a 12 day stay with a 20 year old Cambodian girl that we have supported for a number of years. We had 2 rooms and after 2 days spoke to reception about giving up 1 room and all staying in family room. They refunded the money without hesitation.
The propery is close is only a short walk to the beach, but is about 15 minute walk to the main area if Ao Nang and most guests hired a Motorbike for 200 baht/day to get around. We hired an Avis car for 1100 baht per day and were then able to travel further. There are usually several Tuk Tuk taxi vehicles parked outside.
The rooms are very large and the family room comes with a microwave. They supply 1 600ml bottle of water for each guest daily and tea & coffee making facilities. The pool is large enough for the number of guests that can stay there but in March the water is a little to warm to be refreshing. At one end there is a spa area and an attached shallow pool for young children.
Breakfast can be included and what is available varies each day, and possibly changes to suit the majority of the country of origin of the quests. We found that we were able to get plenty of things that we liked each day. The dinning area is under cover and open near the front of the property.
The rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels supplied, along with bath wash, but you have to supply your own shampoo & conditioner.
There are 2 computers available for a small fee and free Wi Fi is available in reception and in your room if you are close enough to reception area.

If returning to the Krabi area we would certainly use this hotel again.

Room Tip: The property has 5 blocks of buildings each with a family room at each end and 4 double rooms in bet...

Great place only about 5 minute walk to the beach. Room was clean and comfortable. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Pool was beautiful and warm with a pool side bar. All rooms open right on to the pool. Great buffet style breakfast included. Would love to stay there again.

Room Tip: Just off the beach so much quieter and relaxing then beach front, but very close.

We had this hotel as a base for our Thailand journey. The location is good as the hotel is not situated in the middle of the touristic area but easy accessible.

The rooms are basic and not really clean - cleaning seems to be relative in the entire country no matter how many stars the hotels have!

Breakfast is more than basic - Thai food, fresh omelette, fruits and cereals. Coffee....is bad :)

Both receptionist are helpful but only one of them gets close to the "customer service" definition.

For getting to the main area you can either rent a scooter (about 250 baht/day) or use the free bicycles from the hotel.

The pool has a good size for chilling after a long day in some of the trips you can take from Krabi - try the 9 island snorkelling trip and the kayak in the mangrove forest!

The beach in front of the hotel is not so busy as Ao Nang but there you can have more than 50 monkeys to play with - they are coming daily when the tide is high.

There's no SPA area and if you want a massage you'll have to chose between your room and outside, next to the bar. The massage places in the center are cheaper and better.

Overall, this resort is good value for money and I would book it again.

Room Tip: The rooms from the block 5 are a bit humid so if you stay more than a night it's better to ask t...

We stayed at Krabi Aquamarine for 2 nights and felt like extending our vacation a bit more.
The resort is nice with all rooms having garden and pool view. The pool is also good with jacuzzi in it.

You can enjoy your meals and drinks by the pool while relaxing. The rooms are big enough and especially the washrooms have been designed nicely with pebbles etc..

The resort is 10-15 mins drive away from Ao Nang..but the resort provides free shuttle service. You can also take a tuk-tuk which will charge 20 baht per person for one way which is quite reasonable.

We loved the location since for relaxation it had a quite environment , and for night outs it wasnt too far.

The resort didnt have the spa when we travelled but they can arrange for the massage in your room , if interested.

The resort provides wifi connectivity and we couldnt connect to it for some reasons. The breakfast is simple and decent.

Nice place overall with the price you pay.

Room Tip: all rooms are same with garden and pool view.
