As the subject notes, there are much better destinations in Thailand than Krabi town itself. Get the visions of beautiful sand and limestone cliffs out of your head if you're staying in the city center.
We spent 1 night at Good Dream in transition from Koh Lanta back to Bangkok (we forgot it was Loi Krathong and booked something as quickly as we could...and this place had great reviews that it lived up to).
Nothing much to write home about re: the room. it was clean, had a few mosquitoes, and you might need to ask for toilet paper if you run out (this shouldn't surprise anyone in Thailand at this price range, but for some reason it does and people get pissed about it). Free wifi is available as long as you buy a reasonable amount of food or drinks from the restaurant, which we did. The location is convenient for things directly in the city, but you will need to get a transfer to the bus station.
One word of warning. Do not, I repeat, do not utilize the bus ticketing service at Good Dream to Bangkok. I can't speak to the other destinations. My girlfriend and I live in Thailand and should have known something was amiss when the bus fare was slightly less than advertised than the fare at the government run bus station that is a few km outside of the city center. The contracted bus company that takes you from Krabi to Bangkok is an absolute sham compared to the "Transport Co." government buses that run from the actual Krabi bus station. Do your research and make sure you aren't taking the dreaded 'tourist' bus that is only full of white people, is on a poor conditioned bus, and will make sure you have an unpleasant ride (Thais have a wicked sense of humor and they take certain pleasure seeing the farangs (foreigner) suffer if you treat them poorly). OK, off soap box here.
Great staff by the way. The receptionist learned we wanted to make a krathong and took us to her friends' bar where we sat for a few hours drinking and making our krathong.
Stay at Good Dream and I think you'll be happy!

One thing for people to note is that the contracted bus company that we use is the SAME bus company that every other agency in town uses. It is not as nice as the ones at the government-run bus stations, but the tickets (when i posted this) are about double the price as the tourist bus.
I agree with you that the "tourist bus" is not very nice, but it is the only one that any agency can sell. We will usually tell people about the bus offered at the bus station and even tell them how to get these tickets. However, it has been my experience that many if not most of our customers would rather spend half the amount of money.
anyway... mostly pleased with this review and glad we are making the cut.
