This should be a very good hotel and splendid value for money (see other reviews) but at present it suffers from a serious noise problem. There is nearby a very noisy disco type place which at night blares out very loud pulsating disco music. Somehow the sound reverberates into hotel rooms - we were on the 11th floor and could not sleep because of the row. When I complained we were promptly offered an alternative private room on the other side of the building (the smoothness of the switch over procedure suggests that the staff are well aware of the problem). If you are happy living with the row then a great hotel - otherwise may be better to avoid.

This is the best-value hotel I ever visited. I expected much less with that money I spent. The room, breakfast, and atmosphere are excellent.

Hotel Coach airport transfer @ 60 THB per pax, you are 10 minutes from the Airport.

As you would expect the cost to launder clothes is "pricey", so my tip would be.... As you exit the hotel, go to the right, and there you will find a laundry service for 1/10th of the hotel cost.

The evening buffet dinner is great value for money, with the usual offerings and a few surprises. One chef stands by to prepare sushi etc to your requirements, another nearby stands by a table of raw steak, prawns, salmon, etc and will prepare the dish to your specification. A nice touch.

Prepare yourself for a really pleasant surprise in this "rustic" Issan area of Thailand, as you step into the Sofitel Khon Kaen.

The Sofitel Raja Orchard Khon Kaen is a real oasis in the Issan region of North-Eastern Thailand. Over the past few years, I have experienced each room type at this hotel. The basic room leaves a bit to be desired for a five star hotel, especially the bedding. However, the executive suite (which is very reasonably priced), is a great option. A very large room, great bathroom (with bath & TV), and a wonderful bed. Add to that a living room, dining table, and separate bathroom, and you have a fantastic room.

Probably the only inconsistency at this hotel is in regards to the staff. Some of the staff, particularly restaurant staff are wonderful and always happy to help, while my experiences with front desk staff have usually been less than desirable.

The hotel also offers a fairly nice pool with all the other extras you could want, although you are probably best served looking outside of the hotel for any massage services as hotel prices are terribly inflated.
