“Hard to believe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This place is so beautiful and, in October so peaceful that it is hard to believe the human history that goes with the place. Very poignant. Exhibits at the museum interesting.

“Excellent museum explaining the background to the railway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

The exhibits show in sombre detail the horror of war and the experiences of those who worked on the railway. The contrast with the peaceful nature of the pass today could not be more extreme. The audioguide provided by the museum is excellent.

“Sobering”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

This was a heart-wrenching, thoughtfully designed display, full of photos, objects, and testamonials to the thousands of Allies and Asians who labored on the railway during WWII. The deprivation and brutality they endured were staggering.
A must-see to help understand the war in Asia; thanks to the Australians who made this museum happen.
