Visited cemetery first- so many young British, Australian and Dutch graves-you get a lump in your throat- graves beautifully kept .Had watched The Railway man on plane from Oz so really bought the history to life.Museum over the road- so interesting, thought provoking and informative .Coffee shop after exhibition- Then went by coach to bridge, v commercial- people offering booklets. Very busy.
Very hot and humid- shops nearby and market for water etc. Took railway from few stops up the line-looked in caves able to walk on rickety railway. Good day tour- Quite a way from Bangkok- 2.5 hrs. each way in bus, well worth it. You need to see cemetery and museum first to give a greater understanding.
