For me and my boyfriend, the elephant camp was part of a one day tour, which also included the Erawan waterfalls and the death railway. Although we initially only wanted to sign up for this, we had to be present at the elepant riding and bamboo rafting anyway because the other people from our group signed up for it, so we decided we would give it a try. We felt so bad about it afterwards, especially for the elephants! The tour information pictures showed people bathing with the elephants, riding them bareback. The only thing we got is a 30 minutes ride around the camp on a for the animals very uncomfortable riding bench, while the mahouts were constantly shouting at them, and even punching them to show off. The next group of tourist was already waiting when we returned to the camp. I would never recommend this to anyone! The bamboo rafting also sucked. The river was just not that special and it didn't make sense that we were taken up the river by a noisy motorboat.
