“Its a hidden gem !!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

The place is very cozy and awesome....and highlight of the place is personalize touch by the owners....Judy was so helpful and nice that she actually saved our trip by completely replanning it and helping with all the reservations she did everything with a smile....food was awesome and absolute delight after the rhetoric taste of bangkok food...food was homely and custom cooked (my wife is a vegatarian)....They try to take care of every minute details and are extremely concerned about the customer satisfaction....full marks to them....i wud love to come back some day and stay with these people....

We originally planned to spend three nights at the Thai Garden Inn but our stay proved to be so wonderful that we spent five. It is located in a very quiet area on the opposite side of the river from where the majority of guest houses are. Moreover, it is far enough from the river so as not to be disturbed by the weekend karaoke boats.

The spotlessly clean rooms set in a beautiful, lush garden are very comfortable and equipped with a mini fridge and easy to use safe. We only ate there once in the evening since we met up with friends. However, we did eat a hearty breakfast there every morning.

Judy and Mike, the owners, are very knowledgeable about the area and more than willing to use it to help their guests. Over the years I have stayed at a number of guest houses in the Kanchanaburi area and I certainly can recommend the Thai Garden Inn, especially for those people in search of peace and quiet.

This place is about a 15 minute walk outside of Kanchanaburi of which most of that is lit (except the road that the hotel is on). Our bungalow was older but still very nice, with air conditioning, a safety deposit box, and a mini fridge. The pool was heavenly. The restaurant was very good as well. The owners (Judy, and her partner?) were excellent and extremely helpful to us arranging transport back to Bangkok and letting us keep our bags there an extra day. There is a nice courtyard with lots of seats to relax in. Very lovely spot, would definitely return if ever in the area.

It is always nice to read positive reviews and encourages us to continue to improve. Yes, I do agree that the lighting on the lane where we are located is not always litted up. Sometimes our neighbours would leave their outside lights on and at times they would switch it off.

John and I are glad we could be of assistance to you and we do look forward to seeing you again if you have the opportunity to come to Kanchanaburi again.

Stayed for 3 nights we came here for the ANZAC dawn service at Hellfire Pass, Judy was very helpful with all information and organizing the transport for us plus any other information about other tours and places. Our room was very clean and quiet, the location was just a short taxi bike ride less than 5 minutes across the river or 10 minute walk, maybe don't walk to the main area at night time. Breakfast was good plus had a evening meal there a very nice spicy thai and malaysian dish. Would definitely stay there again, thanks Judy and John.

Bungalow looks very cheap. Location is very bad, very far from city, have to walk along a road with out light.
The shower was not cleaned when we arrived.
In the morning, workers who make a building in the next bugalow start work at 7:00am ...
Restaurant is expensive and not thai standard. Breakfast is ok.
Swimming pool is nice.
good wifi.
Can find better place for same or cheaper price in the main street.

We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your stay with us. I am sure you would have looked at all the previous reviews including information on our website that says that we are not by the main tourist strip.

We have always stated that we are located about 500m (which is a short walk) from the main strip. We even provide a torchlight in the rooms in the event that guests feel that the roads are not litted up sufficiently during the nights and wish to take a walk.

I think you must be dreaming when you say that our contractors starts at 7am because no contractors ever starts at 7am. Our contractors always starts from 9am onwards when there is work for them.

As for the bungalows which you say are cheap looking, well, that is how they look like exactly in our website.

On the matter of the shower, did you inform anyone it because I checked with all our staff and no one was aware of your complain?

Prices in our restaurant are comparative to other restaurants in the area. And what do you mean by not thai standards? Are you referring to the fact that we are serving all meals on a table in one go instead of one at time (hence one person eating while the rest are watching)? All our cooks are of Thai nationality and if they cannot cook Thai, then I do not know what they can cook.

It is good to hear that at least you managed to enjoy yourself with our swimming pool and wifi.

Great place to stay I would recommend it to anyone who was going there the staff were a great help on tours and stuff the cooks made great food (and smashed me in pool) and since we were there in April it was Song Kran time and 1 of the staff even came to play out on the main strip of kanchanaburi. We had a great time there and the tours they put us on we're amazing. Also I recommend to go to "the One More Bar" which is across the road from Tescos and serve chip butties, cold cider and lots of other stuff that all Aussies and Pommies will luv.

Wife and i stayed at the Thai Garden Inn for 6 nights and had a really good time there.
The staff were all very helpful with varying degrees of English, and smiles were the order of the day. Local knowledge on what to see, where to go etc is always handy and no sales pitches on companies was a definite plus.
The location is away from the Town centre but within easy walking/tuktuk distance.
I hired a scooter, initially for 1/2 a day which (thanks to Judy) i held onto until the last night, which gave us the chance to go where and when we liked without having to bother anyone for a taxi etc.
The room was basic, clean, and everything worked as it should - though the front door did need adjusting - which was taken care of promptly.
The gardens were very well maintained, complete with good looking pool (we didn't use it so can't comment), and nice chairs outside on the porch to watch the world go by.
Laundry machines are a very nice touch and also cheap to use, and we had no problems with the quality of food that we ordered at night.
All in all a very nice time, well looked after and would stay there again should we revisit Kanchanaburi.

Thank you Robin for your great review. Good to hear that our staff were helpful and you had a good time in Kanchanaburi. Our gardener has a very challenging time with the hot weather to keep our gardens in a good condition and I am glad to hear that he has done well.

Equally important is the condition of the pool. I must say that John has put in a lot of sweat into maintaining it as best as we can.

We are happy to hear that both you and your wife had a good time here and we certainly look forward to serving you and your wife again in future.
