We chose Rest Detail because of the good reviews it had received and we were not disappointed. The resort is beautifully set out, with a gorgeous pool overlooking the beach.

It is a little far from town, but the resort offers a shuttle bus (for a fee though...) which runs relatively frequently, so you don't have to eat at the hotel for every meal. The hotel restaurant is on the pricier side (for what you get) but it is a resort, so that is to be expected.

The staff are lovely and very helpful. The breakfast is pretty good, although not quite as good as some of the hotels in Bangkok (which set a ridiculously high standard anyway).

The bathrooms are stocked lovely with moisturisers and shampoo / conditioner from the onsite Spa and they are amazing! So much nicer than the usual complimentary stuff you get.

Would highly recommend the Rest Detail for a relaxing holiday by the beach.

Just spent 2 weeks at this super hotel.
The Hotel is a short ride by hotel transport or tuk tuk or taxi to the town which has a good shopping mall with a Tesco and Boots the chemist for any forgotten items.The town itself is busy and shabby and some areas are quite touristy so we loved that the Rest Detail was in a quiet area.
The beach was not the most beautiful and had some debris but just by the hotel, the staff do clean it up.It is fine for a stroll but jelly fish in the sea prevented swimming and someone did get badly stung while we were there.

I agree with a previous reviewer who said that at weekends the locals mainly from Bangkok visit and they do seem to have lots of children and can be noisy and demanding.
However,they are entitled to be there as it is their country !! and they only stay about 1-2 days.They only use the pool when it is cloudy or early morning and evening and don't seem to like sunbathing so there is never a problem with sunbeds! Also they don't seem to eat at the restaurant in the evening so it is never crowded.
Our room was a Rest Horizon with a jacuzzi on the balcony.It was lovely and spacious with everything you need and more including gorgeous toiletries,I pod,DVD player,beach bag,caffetiere etc.etc.It was cleaned perfectly every day as were all other areas of the Hotel { I don't think I saw a speck of dirt anywhere !
The food was wonderful and the Breakfast selection was great and catered for everyone.
For Lunch and Dinner you have a choice of a la carte or daily specials,all of which are delicious and reasonably priced.Happy hour every day lasted a couple of hours and we tried many of the cocktails which were also good.
I am Vegetarian and the menu did not have many choices so after mentioning to the restaurant manager ,they then had a menu printed specially for me and I was asked everyday what I would like and the excellent chef made me the most delicious food including a superb Thai green vegetable curry.I felt very special and at no time did I feel that I was difficult,they seemed only too happy to make anything you would like and always had lots of lovely suggestions for the menu.
My husband who is not veggie had superb food also and some delicious seafood but did not have enough time to work his way through all of the menu!
The spa also was great and the 2 treatments I had were wonderful and cured my achey neck!
Apart from the beautiful rooms,the excellent food the lovely pool,and quiet setting,the main strength of this Hotel is the staff.
Without exception from porters to front desk,room/cleaning staff,pool and restaurant staff they are the best I have come across anywhere in the world.Efficient,,willing,very hard working , friendly but not intrusive and always very happy with lovely genuine smiles.

To quote the Rest Detail self publicity "entering into the tranquil grounds", "wise resting style" is a misrepresentation.
We stayed in a pool villa and Tuesday thru Friday is everything those seeking peace and tranquility could desire. However, Saturday thru Monday the resort is taken over by an influx of local family 'weekenders', (presumably enjoying a lower tariff), who turn the place into a noisy playground and picnic area for themselves and dozens of children; loud music emanates from many of the villas and complaints from guests to the front desk are met with a Thai smile and apologies. A letter of complaint we wrote to the manager elicited no response.
The resort has potential but ultimately will need to decide whether to attract those genuinely seeking tranquility or those a family lido; the two are mutually exclusive.

Liked: impeccable service and staff, immaculate pool villa, internet availability, staying Tuesday to Friday.
Disliked: weekend family extravaganza

The design concept of the hotel is 'detail-oriented', from the main design theme and structure to a little item in the room, the owner of this hotel spent enormous time to refine what is truly a marvelous boutique resort for their guests. It is an unforgetable retreat at this gorgeous hotel.
