This resort/hotel is 3 star so set your expectations. It is around 4-5km south of Huan Hin town.

Over long weekend May 8-10 I went on my own for a break from living in Bangkok. I was in a deluxe room in the old hotel part room 404. Stayed two nights. The room size was good, furniture was good, bathroom a bit old but shower was good. The room missed a few of the little things. No bedside lamps so not convenient to read before going to sleep. No slippers provided to wear indoors so remember to bring your own. No internet connection in the room.

Air-con was a bit noisy but not enough to disturb anything. Many channels on the small TV but mostly Thai. Did have BBC (no CNN), none of the big movie channels like HBO or Star Movies, but did have a couple other movie channels and couple sports channels. Did get three bottles of water every day which was nice. Too much light coming in the window over the kitchen in early morning, there was only a small see through curtain.

Pool was ok, nice view over the beach. Pool bar area was a bit run-down. Had no problem getting a sun bed. The pool did close at 7pm, would be nice if it stayed open a bit later so could have a refreshing swim after a day out and about.

Mainly Thai people staying at this place, I did see 3-4 other 'farang' families. I did not partake the breakfast but my balcony overlooked the breakfast area and could see food was out in the open seemingly at the mercy of insects but there were many people having breakfast. I did not have meal at restaurant. There are some eating places if you walk out the hotel, turn left and keep walking for about 10mins back to main road.

The beach was accesible from the back of the resort. It did disappear at high tide so after about 3-4pm the beach was gone. But you could still swim if you wanted to, although need to be careful of jelly fish. You can take jetski, horse ride, banana boat on the beach. In the morning you can walk along the beach to the town. About 45mins. There are many other nice resorts that you can see as you walk. If you walk the other direction on beach you can go to 'chopstick' mountain about 20mins walk. You can take hotel shuttle bus to town, but it did not seem to run according to schedule. Of course you can get taxi or tuk-tuk too for around 100-150 baht.

Staff were ok, but reception area always seemed busy and a bit out of control. But I didn't have any trouble with them. They we kind enough to change my room when I checked in as first I was in room 1 which is near the small pool and the restaurant which was too public for my liking so I requested to change room.

Overall I got what I expected for my stay.

my husband and i are from ireland and just returned from chom view a couple of days ago....i was a bit nervous after reading lots of negative reviews...but they were wrong....the hotel was pretty, clean and the staff all fun loving and friendly i am in my late 20's and husband in early 30's and we would both recommend it......the hotel ran an air con big coach into the city of hua hin all throughout the day and it only takes five minutes...also lots of taxis wait outsied so u can choose either....we loved the location as after spending a few days in bangkok..it was a welcome rest.......quite but u could be in the town in minutes....our room was lovely and cleaned every day with fresh sheets and towels....food was lovely wide variety and cheap we thought........the beach was beautiful...and i thought we had the best spot compared to the more expensive hotels further up who were plagued by tons of noisy water sports...while i got to enjoy the lapping of the waves and the gentle sound of fishing boats.........the tide went out mid morning leaving us a huge stretch of white, clean quiet beach..the sea lovely and warm and u could see to the bottom...safe for swimming......for the cost of staying in chom view....we were delighted and would recommend it highly..also seemed fab for little kids too........

hi: i am currently at the chomview hotel and thought it would be a good idea to give some up to date information.
this hotel is a large property and has a wide variety of rooms. everything from small rooms with no balcony in the main building to large several bedroom 2 stories in a newer addition.
my husband and i stay at the chomview every year and we really like it but it depends what type of holiday you are looking for.
LOCATION: ABOUT 4 KM FROM TOWN. we love the location. it is right on the beach. you can walk all the way into town. it is in an area of expensive hotels. ( next to hyatt and chiva som)the beach is gorgeous (unless you are there during high tides) the best time of year is january to mid march. when the water becomes too warm in mid march the jelly fish are there. they are EVERYWHERE. they are not chomview jellyfish.
ROOMS: the rooms are older and have a variety of furniture. they are a little worn but i have NEVER found them unclean. the staff is friendly and works very very hard and always have smiles for the guests. this year everything has been freshly painted and all the drapes replaced. the towels are worn looking but that is because they are washed so often. have a look at their laundry area if you think they don't wash the sheets and towels. the amount of laundry processed daily is amazing.
BREAKFAST ROOM: the breakfast room is outdoors and can be very hectic. having said that there are lots of quiet spots to take your coffee. the food at the main restaurant is good and reasonably priced but a 5 minute walk up to the main road gives you several traditional thai places to eat.
this is a hotel which has gone through many changes. it used to be a hotel that was full of repeat individual travellers. in recent years it has become more of a package destination for scandinavian tours. they alway keep a few rooms available for us oldtimers and this year it appears they may be returning to more individual bookings. there are more websites this year offering discount rates for longer stays.
if you want to be in the center of town or at a deluxe hotel this is NOT for you. it is a mid range friendly family hotel in a six star location.
would i recomment it to my best friend. NO WAY. it is my secret spot

  • Liked — quiet. away from town. friendly staff

Very badly run hotel! The rooms are quite large but not very attractive. Cleaners don't do their job properly (beds changed after 2 1/2 weeks. mirrors weren't cleaned in 3 weeks. toilet top was not cleaned at all) the whole place is very run down, at the pool there was only ONE umbrella , the pool bar just about falling apart, the areas weren't cleaned although 4 staff there all day asking for drink seemed to be an interruption on their free time!. Dangerous holes in the lawn, I could write a novel on the things that weren't satisfactory. To top the lot, we had to pay for drinks from the mini bar at check out that we had not taken. Stay away from this hotel if you want a good holiday!!!!

  • Disliked — everything! this hotel is the worst that I have ever been to.

We just returned after 2 nights in an appartment at this hotel. It was ok. My advise to any one who wants to go there is dont expect too much. It is in a good location on the beach and the rooms are ok. I have fairly high expectations so i was a little dissapointed.
The bath rooms were very wet after having a shower, the shutters out side were old and you couldnt close them( we were on the ground floor ), in one of the bed rooms you couldnt close the door. Lots of stray dogs & cat around the hotel and breakfast room. The breakfast buffet was in the sun and covered in flies. Every thing was simple. But as many others have said, it is a hotel where many local thais go for weekends(very popular apparently)
We went with thai friends and they love the hotel, its price / offer is very good.
The only thing that dissapointed me was that it was really the 1st time in Thailand where i thought the staff were not so friendly.
Overall it was an experience, i dont think i would recommend not to go there, just dont have high expectations, then you would probably enjoy it.
What we really enjoyed was a walk to "chopstick mountain" Lots of monkeys to feed and a big budda. It is a 20 min walk on the beach from the hotel.

  • Liked — The weather
  • Disliked — The broken shower rail in the bath room.
