This resort/hotel is 3 star so set your expectations. It is around 4-5km south of Huan Hin town.
Over long weekend May 8-10 I went on my own for a break from living in Bangkok. I was in a deluxe room in the old hotel part room 404. Stayed two nights. The room size was good, furniture was good, bathroom a bit old but shower was good. The room missed a few of the little things. No bedside lamps so not convenient to read before going to sleep. No slippers provided to wear indoors so remember to bring your own. No internet connection in the room.
Air-con was a bit noisy but not enough to disturb anything. Many channels on the small TV but mostly Thai. Did have BBC (no CNN), none of the big movie channels like HBO or Star Movies, but did have a couple other movie channels and couple sports channels. Did get three bottles of water every day which was nice. Too much light coming in the window over the kitchen in early morning, there was only a small see through curtain.
Pool was ok, nice view over the beach. Pool bar area was a bit run-down. Had no problem getting a sun bed. The pool did close at 7pm, would be nice if it stayed open a bit later so could have a refreshing swim after a day out and about.
Mainly Thai people staying at this place, I did see 3-4 other 'farang' families. I did not partake the breakfast but my balcony overlooked the breakfast area and could see food was out in the open seemingly at the mercy of insects but there were many people having breakfast. I did not have meal at restaurant. There are some eating places if you walk out the hotel, turn left and keep walking for about 10mins back to main road.
The beach was accesible from the back of the resort. It did disappear at high tide so after about 3-4pm the beach was gone. But you could still swim if you wanted to, although need to be careful of jelly fish. You can take jetski, horse ride, banana boat on the beach. In the morning you can walk along the beach to the town. About 45mins. There are many other nice resorts that you can see as you walk. If you walk the other direction on beach you can go to 'chopstick' mountain about 20mins walk. You can take hotel shuttle bus to town, but it did not seem to run according to schedule. Of course you can get taxi or tuk-tuk too for around 100-150 baht.
Staff were ok, but reception area always seemed busy and a bit out of control. But I didn't have any trouble with them. They we kind enough to change my room when I checked in as first I was in room 1 which is near the small pool and the restaurant which was too public for my liking so I requested to change room.
Overall I got what I expected for my stay.
