“Great place”

Baan Duangkaew Resort

WOW What a great place. Just spent 5 nights there and we LOVED it. The units are top cabin. All close to a pool. They have two. Grounds and well maintained and just so pretty.
Walk to the beach is not far and a good way to get the early morning blood flowing.
Staff were all very nice. We had a massage three days in a row.
They were great. In a massage room where a couple can get a massage side by side.
So many great places in town built out onto the water to eat fresh seafood.
Make sure you walk the grounds of as many of the large resorts as you can. Some are really really nice but you ave to pay the big bucks to stay there. We had some really great meals at some of the bigger hotels.
Want a small quiet place where you can really relax this is the place.
No Americans to be seen for miles.

After much searching chose the Baan Duangkaew Resort and I'm so glad I did. It was just perfect. Individual bungalows set in lush, tropical grounds with 2 swimming pools. Large bedroom/living area and 'wet' room style bathroom. Fruit basket on arrival and 2 free bottles of water daily in the fridge. Lots of little touches. Staff were brilliant and arranged lots of little trips for us. Free taxi transfer into town, main Hua Hin beach and Elephant Village. Short walk down to beach.

Very quiet, relaxing place. It may not be to everyone's tastes, ie those who like something going on all the time. I find with large chain hotels you could be anywhere in the world once inside, but here was definately Thailand.

I would definately return there and would highly recommend.

Please feel free to contact me for any further info.

“Best value at Baan Deuangkaew!!”

This hotel is 8 mins from hua hin restaurant and shopping areas.Depending on your bargaining skills with the taxi/tuk-tuk drivers prices can range from 70-120 baht, however if you walk 300 mtr to the main rd and catch the green colored open taxi and jump into the back (without asking on price!!) and press the buzzer when you wish to jump off like all the locals you only pay 10 baht per head!!!! this green taxi is really a bus service that drives from the airport to khao takiab and back all day long (or until he poaches new tourists that don't know the scope)then charging you the earlier prices as mentioned. OK for the hotel this is the best valued hotel in the area without doubt!! staff are all friendly and will bend over backwards to accomodate you.We had our 4yr old have his birthday here and they put on a spread(pizza and tuna pasta type dish) and cake at no expense!! we had friends here and with a total of 4 adults and 5(screaming)kids they found it a joy to do so. Bungalows are big enough for couples or small families of "4" families of 5 in my opinion are pushing it tight, but it is managable!! garden setting and pool areas are fantastic!! perfect for relaxion, however the childrens pool is smallish and adults always have to be close by as these are attached to the deeper pools 1.2- 1.5 mtr. rooms are cleaned everyday also clean towels.(starting to get frayed but quite usable) This hotel I would rate at 3-3.5 star which most sites rate this at anyway. We have experienced tiny ants when we leave loose food out of the fridge, but that is easily managed as well. At nights there is the "sasi theatre restaurant" where you hear traditional thai music and is pleasant to hear is these surroundings at nightime.
We needed to book an extra 2 nights in Hua Hin and after scoping other reasonably priced hotels in the HH area, there wasn't anything I found that came close to this place so it was easy to extend our stay here. If anyone is looking for a fantastic hotel at budget prices YOU WILL NOT FIND BETTER!!
Enjoy your holiday people!! :- john gray c/o grolls@hotmail.com

“A very good time of my life”

This little bungalow-village is wonderful. Tidy and quiet. Rooms are large and clean. The only negative is the air-condition which keeps you awake, it is very noicy. The garden is very beutyful with banana-threes and coco-palms, starfruits and so on. Flowers and flowers. The beach is not as you wish, you can take a svim and so on but you can not stay in the beach for the tide. The hotel keeps a taxi to Takiab beach and to town beack free once a day. Allso in the evening the taxi drives you to town. This place is very convienient for couples in the middles.

Good things first - the room was spacious, nice decor and very clean. The ladies who cleaned the room every day tidied it so well we thought we'd come back to the wrong room! Everything was folded and put away for us. However overall the bathroom was tired, with holes in the grout and where the tap was, and the water in the shower fluctuated constantly in pressure and temperature (mainly cold, with occasional scalding bursts of hot). The front door didn't close very well so we would often find it had opened, and the chain was broken so the security wasn't very good. The door didn't open very well from the outside either and at night there wasn't enough light to see by to try and get it open. There were two very nice pools but a basketful of towels was put out in the morning so they were all used by mid-morning and not replaced all day. The resort is a bit out of town, but they provide a free shuttle at 11am and 6pm. When we left they tried to charge me about NZ$40 for 15 minutes of calls to New Zealand which I had made on a pre-paid card - I had to really stand my ground to get them to investigate it properly and finally waive the charges. Also they provided a king-sized bed when my booking had been for a twin (it was for my daughter and myself) but they did provide a fold away bed for my daughter, although this wasn't as comfortable as a proper bed.
