This is one of the newest Italian Restaurants in town, location is very convenient just south of the main entrance to Centara Grand Hotel. The décor is very nice, and you can choose to be seated inside or outside. Service is very good and Carlo himself seems to be everywhere making sure everything is the way it should be. Have not seen a more service minded propertier anywhere. Like the first time we visited his restaurant about one year ago, I asked him if he had some small cigars to finish the excellent meal with. He asked me to wait for a while and he would check. After about 15 minutes he turned up with a small Cuban cigar. He had simply sent one of his staff by Taxi to his home where he had some cigars. And when he was out of San Pellegrino sparkling water he just sent one of his staff to the supermarket to buy it. Where else can you find this kind of service? This is of course not the only reason why we keep coming back to Carlo. The food is why we choose his restaurant frequently. This evening Mr. Carlo was not around when we arrived just after 18.00. But his staff took our order. Bread and San Pellegrino (THB 180)arrived just after we placed our orders. We also received the ½ liter of Red house wine (THB 520) which was a good choice. They even asked if we wanted the wine cold or room temperature. Obviously some people prefer the red cold due to the hot weather here which is hard for me to understand. Red wine don’t taste the way it should if it’s cold. We decided to start with Salmon Carpaccio (THB 350) and Vitello Tonnato (THB 390) (Prices +7% Tax). It was a big portion of fresh good tasting salmon that my wife enjoyed. The Vitello Tonnato looked a bit strange. Normally it’s served covered with a thick Tuna tasting sauce but here it was like something completely different that covered the thin slices of veal. It did not taste bad but also not the way I think it should taste. Something for Mr. Carlo to look in to in order to improve the look and taste of this dish. My wife main course was Branzino al Cartoccio (THB 550) Sea bass with tomato, garlic, capers and celery cooked in foil. It was a nice piece of fish which my wife enjoyed very much. Some had to be left as it was such a big portion. My main was Filetto di Manzo Reale (THB 840) with mushrooms in a gorgonzola sauce. Also this was a big portion cooked exactly as I wanted it. It was garnished with vegetables and some fried potatoes. The beef was cut from the center of the Tenderloin and was very tender. The house Red match the beef very well, did not ask what wine it was but my guess would be a Sangiovese. Mr. Carlo arrived to the restaurant just when we had paid and were about to leave. Of course this was not possible without enjoying a glass of Grappa or Limoncello on the house!! Like said service like in no other place! Take the opportunity and visit Carlo when you are in Hua Hin is our recommendation!
