We have been to Hua Hin many times - one of our sons has lived in Bangkok for many years - and we almost always eat Thai. Having wandered off track a little we looked at the menu and although, as would be expected it was quite a lot more expensive than Thai, it looked reasonably priced, and certainly about a third of what we might expect to pay in London.
Although the pumpkin soup - Glo's favourite - was really nice, it was the smallest portion of soup we think we have ever seen. Both pasta dishes were nicely cooked, good portions and the waitress added lashings of Parmesan. My pork dish was "ok". The accompanying veg were cold. I was told that is how it is served!!! Fortunately I had a spinach side dish which was really good.
Now, we really have "puds" but we both love Italian lemon ice cream and that was one of the options. When it arrived, bright green, we were surprised, and enquired to make sure our order was correct, as it certainly looked more like mint. As we feared, there was no taste of lemon at all, nor even mint. In fact it was a tasteless green ice.
Clearly, as all the tables were reserved, Carlo is doing something right. But not for us - he certainly greeted a few guests - but was conspicuous by his absence when we complained about the ice cream. Shame. Do not expect we'll try it again.
