I played the Royal Hua Hin course in December 2011, during the so called High Season.
On the day I played we teed off around 11:00am and were pleasantly surprised we were virtually the only players on the course.
The Royal Hua Hin was the first course to be built in Thailand and it shows, whilst most of the fairways are wide they lack the finess of some of the newer designs and a lack of sprinklers on the fairways means in the hot season a lack of rain drys the grass to a scorch
That said the greens were lush and well kept and I found the layout and some of the approach shots to be a challenge
Caddies very friendly and knowledgable of the lies.
Club house and facilities very dated and in need of a face lift
But in terms of convenience it's in the centre of the town, location being platform 2 of the single track Hua Hin railway station
Overall impression one to play just for the done that been there tee shirt.
