Hilton was a wonderful retreat - pool area was great, good value bars including a sky bar, excellent buffet breakfast and good location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of activities for kids if required, including pool games, a small water slide, tennis lessons, craft classes and movie nights. Really enjoyed our stay.

After booking our holiday to the Hilton Hua Hin, I was a bit nervous after reading some of the reviews - this was our first big family trip! and this is why I felt I had to review myself. I really should not have been so worried! It was more than I could have hoped for. We booked through Thomas Cook.
I felt all the staff we dealt with in the hotel were very helpful and very pleasant, the hotel itself is beautiful - stunning! We were on the 7th floor (opposite side to the pool) which I was pleased with as it gives you that bit more privacy - and great views, although the other side has just as nice views. The rooms are a really good size, we had two separate made up beds for the kids and still lots of room. I had read on some reviews that the mattresses were quite hard - this was the case for me, I was uncomfortable but after 2 nights we asked the housekeeping if they could do something and straight away brought up a topper which made it much better! no problem to them at all. The rooms were looked after everyday, clean towels, replacement accessories etc - bathroom was lovely, again a few remarks about them being dated, I have to say the shower area could have had a little TLC, but it really was not a huge problem, the rest of the bathroom was lovely, and again big.
The pool area is just brilliant - huge - with different depths and areas for everyone. Great slide for the kids (and big kids!) which my 2 spent the majority of their time on. With the little bars and places to eat right beside the pool was good also. Quite often you would not have to move off your sun lounger as the staff would come round and you could just order with them. Again, pool and recreation staff were very friendly and helpful.
The majority of the people staying there were either German/Australian/Thai/Chinese and a few Brits - which was a good mix.
The food in the hotel I found lovely - as other reviews mention, the breakfast buffet availability is Huge! something for every taste/culture - eggs any way you want, cooked in front of you. We ate a couple of times in the evening at the hotel - they did a great International BBQ on a Saturday night. All other times we ate out with the hotel as it was really good and much cheaper! The hotel prices are certainly a lot more expensive than you will find in the rest of Hau Hin, which is a shame really because it is lovely - but it was not off putting. Just step out of the hotel and there are lots of lovely little restaurants/bars/shops that you can get lovely food & drinks in, our cheapest meal for the 4 of us (including 2 rounds of drinks) was About £14.... and the food is wonderful - don't be put off by them cooking on the street, it's all part of the charm of Thailand. Great little restaurant called Na Na's Place the next street down from the hotel is certainly worth a visit.
The night markets are great and it is fun chatting with the stall holders. They are very friendly and you will find lots of Thai's walking from place to place trying to sell you their little souvenirs - but if you just say no they don't pester you so I did not find it annoying.
I tried to find out about things we could do before we left - 1 of which was the Black Mountain water park - this is a must! only 20mins in a Tuk Tuk from the hotel - was great fun and the kids had a ball. The lazy river and pool bar selling cocktails for 120bht (£2.40) was a favourite with the adults! They have a great venue, huge area, sun beds, slides, wave pool, restaurant, and much more - not expensive for food either - we spent 4 hours there, you could spend more too. You put money on a little credit card type card when you arrive to pay for food and drinks while there to save carrying money or going back to the lockers - great idea - and if you have money left on it they refund you on the way back out. Deposits for the locker and towels, and you can hire towels also. Well worth a visit. They have a web site so you can look before you go.
We did an Elephant ride, which was at the 'Safari & Adventure park' don't be fooled by the name though...we just wanted to go Elephant trekking, which we did for about an hour. Organised it through the hotel which they had us collected by taxi (air conditioned) it was only about 15mins from the hotel so not far at all. I had read a lot on the Elephant parks before we went and was looking for the 'Foundation' one rather than the Elephant village, but we never went to either. What we did was fine and kids enjoyed it - I have been to better though.
The beach is just off the hotel - down a few steps, again lots of people selling things and the guys with the horses are not long in coming straight to you as soon as they see you coming down onto the beach, as before, a simple no if you are not interested and they move on. We did all go horse riding along the beach which was really fun, the kids were led and we were left to go on our own. They take your photo and produce a small plate with your picture on it for your return! they are sweet and a nice little souvenir to take home. at a cost of course - but not over the top.
I had read about the reviews saying the beach was not the best, rocky etc but to be honest, it is fine - there are some large areas of rocks not far out from the hotel - but keep walking past all the other loungers (not part of the hotels) and the beach open up to a huge flat area of sand and you can walk for miles if you desire, but the sand is lovely, sea warm. It is not clear, it is quite cloudy looking but lots of people were in swimming. There is the warning of jelly fish - I did not see any. they do seem to be seasonable, so it depends on the time of the year you go - certainly not August. Someone had mentioned about the sun not getting over the hotel either - not the case at all, so maybe just again time of year. It is off peak in August so not so busy as other times - we never had a problem getting sun beds either.
There are lots of trips to go on, lots to see round about so you can either go and totally relax or do a few outings too.
There are games tables (pool, snooker, table tennis etc) on the mezzanine floor also which was nice to use (free) when you wanted a bit of time out of the hotness! There is a gym, tennis courts and probably lots more that we were not even aware of...
We were not leaving until 5pm on our day of departure - check out is midday so we asked if we could stay on in the room and although we could not our bags were moved to another room that we could use for showering etc before we left - no extra charge. (best to become a Hilton Member as they favour that - especially when getting the little extras. Just sign up on line and take your member number/card with you)
We were there for 10 nights from the beginning of August - great time to go I think. My kids are 7 & 9, we travelled from North Scotland and the travel there was not too bad at all - transfer is 3 hours from airport which is probably the worst part - but we had a private taxi/bus just for us to take us there (and back) organised when booked the holiday (no extra charge).
It was that great we are really considering going back next year again - but for longer this time!
I would highly recommend this hotel and stay for families alike.

Room Tip: Go for higher floors - there are 17 in total - option of suites/executive floors

Back from our second stay at Hilton Hua Hin (8 nights this year and 8 nights last year). Previously would have rated this as four star but now after seeing what competitors are offering would give it 3 stars. Main cons:
(1) Beach area is not cleaned with garbage strewn up on the walls etc
(2) Still being charged a lot for internet (there is free internet in the lobby but good luck getting any bandwidth with all other guests competing)
(3) Significantly overpriced hotel restaurants and spa plus any other activities

This is definitely not a five star hotel but closer to 3 stars

I stayed at the Hilton with my wife and three young children. We couldn't have chosen a better hotel for our needs.
The hotel was excellent, and the rooms large even by Hilton standards. The staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and polite at all times. The pool staff were amazing.
The breakfast buffet was enormous with all styles of cuisine offered.
The hotel was fully booked for several of the days that we stayed but it never felt overcrowded, and even coming to the pool late there was more than enough choice of sunloungers to choose from.
The hotel is situated in the centre of Hua Hin, but on the beach so it's situation is perfect in every respect. The freeform pool is enormous, and also has a children's pool. The beach is down a few steps.
Numerous restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance of the hotel. Hua Hin is a perfect destination for families and couples and there is a really happy relaxed atmosphere within the town, without the "sleaze" associated with some Thai resorts..
all in all we couldn't have chosen a better hotel or destination.

Room Tip: The Bay rooms have stunning views along the beach. The higher the room the better the view!

The Hilton did not fail to dissapoint a second time. Location is spot on, pool area is clean, staff are all very friendly and we were thoroughly looked after again. We stayed on the 6th floor with two interconnecting rooms facing north. They were cleaned daily and the bathrom was in good condition with 'American Standard' sanitary ware.

Clients were a mixture of couples and families, some with young children; not many teenagers. Nationalities: 80% Japan, Korea, China, Thai, Arab, 20% western.

Breakfast was part of the deal (we used Travelbag UK) and this provided a good range of fayre for my family.

We would definitely stay here again.

Spent 11 relaxing days at the Hua Hin Hilton.
Positioned in the centre of Hua Hin means you can walk to most of the Nightlife and restaurants.
Rooms are very good and service is excellent.
Buffet breakfast is huge with every type and style of food available.
Pool is very big and sunlounges are many, also available in gardens and wall along beach front.
Restaureant meals are ok but better and cheaper food available on the streets.
Club lounge was very good with plenty of food and drinks available, and positioned on the 17th floor with wonderful views.
While beach front is not as good as further south, we swam here withb no problems.
This is a great hotel that does not get the recognition it deserves by the DE,s.
Hua Hin is a great place to visit with plenty of Restaurants, nightlife and sights to see.
