“Welcoming and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We are big fans of the Hyatt HH, having enjoyed multiple visits for the last 10 years.
It's difficult to condense this eulogy, as we have had so many great experiences, but here goes:

GARDENS:
The first thing most guests marvel at is the sensational mature gardens; cleverly landscaped and kept immaculate by a dedicated team of gardeners. It still takes our breath away.
(we love seeing the faces of tourists, from nearby Hotels, popping up from their beach walk, their jaws suddenly dropping)

BEACH:
The hotel stands on prime beachfront ( Chiva Som being a nearby neighbour )
If you only desire Talcum powder sands and crystal clear sea, then maybe Mauritius or the Seychelles might suit better.
But, if you want a vast, flat beach, with firm compacted sand that you can walk on for hours, then this is the beach for you ! You can even watch Monks walking on the beach to their Temple if you get up early enough.
Please be aware that sometime between November and March, the beach can disappear due to tidal changes (this is not an exact scientific statement, more of a generalisation) But you can still have a fab holiday; and the sea, being closer, offers a great visual dynamic.

PERSONNEL:
There is a genuine affinity with the Staff and their Hotel (they refer to themselves as 'the Hyatt Family')
We LOVE the Hyatt team for their easy-going, friendly, warm personalities.
This ethos permeates right through the Service Team up through to Management level.
The courteous General Manager, Sammy Carolus, has hospitality imprinted in his DNA. He is visible, amenable and generous with his time; He also understands both Eastern, and Western culture.
Similarly, others in the Management team have all been gracious and super-friendly in their interraction with us.
Time and time again they have pulled out all the stops to ensure we leave with a wealth of positive memories.
We were fortunate to experience the 7-course 'Romantic Dinner' at the McFarland house, with flower garlands, candlelit pathway and personal service throughout ...unforgettable !!

The BARAI:
My Wife adores her trips to the Barai spa and always enthuses about her treatments at the hands of well-trained staff ( although I'm still not sure about the Designer's choice of colour scheme)
The Barai suites offer VIP privacy, personal Butlers and ultra-pampering for those seeking an indulgent stay.

DINING:
You can check out all the Restaurant options via the website. But the breakfasts are AMAZING for a Resort Hotel. (We cannot think of any food requirement not catered for.)
Food at the Resort is generally of a high standard and the duck noodle soup at You & Mee is delicious !

ROOMS:
You don't generally drive 3 hours from Bangkok for the rooms; you surely will come for the Resort setting, the Spa, the beach perhaps, or Hua-Hin itself. However, all the rooms, throughout, are comfortable and well-equipped.The Regency rooms have been redecorated to a more comtemporary design and guests expecting more luxurious surroundings could pay extra for the Barai Suites or the Presidential Suite.

Our recent stay has been just as pleasurable as the previous ones. Wonderful staff and superb surroundings; We are always happy and content whilst in the bosom of the Hyatt and hope newcomers will feel the same way.

This hotel has beautiful gardens, fountains and miles of pools with little bridges surrounded by luxurious vegetation. Water slide was a joy for the kids. Stairs to it though need updating. They are starting to become dangerous. The surroundings are what you wish when visiting an exotic country. The food is very decent and breakfast buffet has most of what you wish for. Rooms are very small but compensated by a large terrace. Beds are quite hard and do not show the comfort of a 5star. Curtains are pretty old with stains and dirt and do not stop the light coming in the morning. Also found some of the decor cushions on the bed with stains. The Le Barai bar is beautiful but also found the seating very stained. Music around the resort is very relaxing and depict a mix of spa music and lounge. Staff is friendly but some really need to speak a bit more english. Beach tends to have quite some jelly fish so not the best for swimming.

Room Tip: If it is busy try to avoid rooms facing the pool as it can be noisy although the view is splendid.

Loved the Hyatt Regency we especially enjoyed the Regency Club, loved the private beach area and the great service by both the beach attendants and the security team. Refreshments throughout the day in the club are great, evening cocktails were lovely. The people were very friendly and warm always and the room nice and big. We had a great time here and would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing beach holiday destination.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

We've stayed a couple of times before at the Hyatt Hua Hin and always enjoyed it , despite something always going wrong with the service that shouldn't.

This time our family of 2 adults and 2 kids (aged 3 and 5) booked a ground floor room for a week. The room was a good size and had backdoor access across a garden strip straight into the pool.

We also booked an extra interconnecting room for the last two nights of our stay for my wife's parents who were joining us. This meant we had to move rooms, but were happy to do so, because the kids could then be close to their nan and pop.

Unfortunately, we were advised by the front desk our new interconnecting room was ready before it was, and we walked into an unmade bed and untidy room with other people's belongings and suitcases everywhere. After some frantic calls from housekeeping to the front desk, it turned out the previous occupants had not checked out, but had fallen asleep in the spa (probably testament to the quality of the spa). It was another couple of hours before we were able to get it all sorted and move in to the room, because they said they didn't want to wake the couple at the spa.

The General Manager apologised to us when we raised it with him at breakfast the next morning. (Like other 5 star resorts we've enjoyed staying at in Thailand, he's a very approachable and visible manager. The couple of times we've been, he's always come up to us at breakfast, introduced himself, and proactively asked if there's anything he could do to help us enjoy our stay more.)

Despite this experience with us being let into another guest's room, we always have a great time at the Hyatt.

Our 5 year old loves the water slide. He's confident swimming in the water and quite brave, so I don't know how many other 5 year olds would or could ride the slide. It has a height restriction, you can't ride it with an adult, and it's fast and quick. In other words its designed for older kids and adults.

Both our kids loved playing at the kids pool. It has a sand beach and is large and fairly shallow. We always take some toys with us for the kids to build sandcastles, but I'm sure they're also available at the resort for free.

The Hyatt charges a half day / full day fee for the staff-supervised kids club (unlike the Evason near Hua Hin) but our 5 year old enjoyed spending a few hours there (he was the only kid in there). They were also renovating the unsupervised kids club when we were there last, and had a temporary one at the conference centre in a dimly lit, smelly conference room with a couple of bean bags and games machines hooked up to a television. This was just a temporary situation, and I'm positive that now they would have a much better unsupervised kids club.

The quality and price of the food at the Hyatt is surprisingly reasonable for a 5 star. The breakfast has something for everyone. However, because my wife is Thai, we generally drive out to eat at local places. If you can't get out easily and you're there on a Friday or Saturday night, you must take the 5 minute walk from the resort to the markets. (Or they'll take you there in a golf cart if you ask.) There's some great food and drink.

Overall, most of the time the Hyatt meets our needs and high expectations for a 5 star Thai resort well. The pools, service, food and rooms keep us coming back. We would recommend it.

Room Tip: Some rooms have backdoor access to the pool across a garden strip. Take your sandals with you and le...

Dear Phil004

It was a pleasure to welcome you and your family back once again at the resort and we appreciate your support and patronage.

It was nice to learn that you had another pleasant stay. However we are concerned to note of the unpleasant experience whereby you were escorted to an occupied room which should not happen. Once again our apologies for this embarrassing incident and we all learned from it to prevent this from recurring.

Thank you for your kind testimony of the facilities of the resort and grateful for your comments on the reasonable food and beverage prices at our restaurants.

We look forward to welcoming you back again to the resort in the near future.

I was on holiday at the Hyatt Regency in Hua Hin Hotel. The highlights of this hotel are the most beautiful garden and the pool.
I was very sad of the Service at the reception at the Regency Area at the first welcome- the people were very snooty and i couldn´t believe i was on holiday in country of smile.
The most part of the Regency-Club-Room is at the ground floor and it was like a cage becouse of the hedge which is high like a tree. Most of the rooms on first and second floor are suites.
The rooms are very elegant and they are etablished in bright and dark furnishings- but therefor that they should be newly renovated- they are a litle bit worn.
The Coublounge is very comfortable for using it as seats for having a drink or a betwen meal, but not for the breakfast. The seperate lying area of the Club with sea view is very beautiful, but unfortunately thre were some nice accompanying who reservated their special lounger all the days at the whole week.
Very excellent was the service of the poolboys and we also have found some nice lounger at another places.

Everything is of the highest order from the food to the general atmosphere about the place. (not easy to achieve)
I did my research as we are a family of 2 adults and 3 young boys (9,6,4) and was looking for a good break.

Hotel
It has been built amongst the existing planting so it does not feel artificial. The architecture is traditional Thai style with non naff modern highlights (lamps in reception etc). To be honest this is so impressive and so well done everything else almost becomes secondary.
We were upgraded to the regency club and had two interconnecting rooms. The rooms were of a good size, beautifully maintained every day, tv, dvd player, ipod dock, quite air conditioning and a balcony as well bed very comfortable ditto bath room and shower.

Pools.
there are at least three main pools, one with a beach, all linked by a swimmable river. great water side and plenty of sunbeds. no problem getting one, and fresh towels and cold water provided.

Food.
Breakfast in Figs, a proper proper buffet breakfast, indian food, chinese food, thai food, smoked salmon, wonderful pastries. even a sign saying if you would like your bacon better cooked please ask. trust me it was good already. occasionally we ate breakfast in teh regency club lounge, slightly less busy but thats the main difference.
lunch most days we ate in the noodle bar, you and mee, prices approx 200-300 for a main, thai and western favorites plus a good kids menu. Children can swim in the pool until the food comes.
There is also Macfarland house which adjoins the Barai. i wish we had eaten more here. the one time we did we ate thai tapas. delicious seared tuna and crab cakes. again very reasonable and a wonderful building. the food itself i reckon was one of the best we had throughout our two weeks in Hua Hin.
We also ate in Talay Thai which serves traditional Thai food. it was good but less contemporary as the above.

Location.
This was really important especially with the children.
Its not central Hua Hin say like the Centara but this is what makes it. The beach is visible from pretty much everywhere in the hotel and is a very nice part of the hua hin beach.
To get into Hua Hin its a 10 minute taxi ride, 150 bht (no bartering which makes it so much easier). Either concierge will call you one or there is a great taxi company on the way out to the main road.
There are a few bars and restaurants just outside the hotel and also the great cicada weekend night market. That said there want much on the beach.

Staff
Sammy and his team were all so helpful and easy to chat with . From Oliver in the Regency Club and his dry swiss humour to Am in Kids club or Dong at the top of the water side. Plus i managed to get in some tennis in with Mi (who kindly let me beat him ahem) which was a real bonus.

Children
They all loved it and it worked well. Its not one of those hotels which is all based around the Children which, if you are on business or w/out Kids could be frustrating . the balance was right. Great kids club making crafts (i think 1200 bht per child per afternoon) and the option of babysitting for 150 per hour per child. All the menus catered for the children too.

To be honest i cannot find fault and for that reason i cannot wait to return. A big thank you .

Room Tip: Regency Club rooms are great you have your own lounge an down pool, complimentary soft drinks and co...
