“not worth puttng on the intinerary”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

went here last week. wasn't bothered about what it was like as by pass it back from thai language classes so no big deal whether good or bad. Unforutnatley - it was the latter. It could be fabujous (if you accept it's a tourist destination) but half of the shops were closed, it is definitely man made and not if I'm frank what you expect a floating market to be like (ie it doesn't float!)

stuff sold was of questionable taste/quality and despite no customers shop staff were shall we somewhat jai-yen - cool hearted

With the exception of one store (and I don't know it's name but worth searching out). There is a dress store somewhere towards the back that is run by a very pregnant Thai lady who just oozes intelligence, customer focus and salesmanship. I ended up by a dress in there and will go back for more (and take friends for same) but in truth, given the frame of mind I was in after being disappointed by the whole set up it shows how good this lady is. Quality is about the same as anywhere else but what she was selling had an innovative level (ie short, medium, long dress all in one) and her total enthusiasm / deftness and eagerness to sell made her stand well above all the other vendors
so go there for some innovative traveling dresses but not much more ....

“Ok for one time visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Man-made lake, with shops around it. Looks like a small amusement park for tourists (mainly local). You cant get there without a vehicle so rent a motorbike or a car or a tourist bus.
I got there after coming back to Hua-Hin from the Northern beaches (the big buddah statue) and spent there about two hours. It was a weekday so not many people, but on weekends i guess there will be very hard to walk.

So as I said, it is ok for one time visit, not more.

“Not like the one you see in pictures”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

When you think of Thailand and a floating market you probably think of the one that is used all the time for magazines and tour guides. The Hua Hin market is not part of canal living like the original but man made sites which have tiny canals with rows of like shops around them. The boats are tied up to the side and cannot move around the canals are so small.(The site is so new that some parts are still under construction.) Very much a locals attraction but interesting to pass away an hour or so. Sometimes elephants and baby goats. pigs etc can be seen there.

“A floating market that isn't one”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013 via mobile

It's not the typical floating market that you would find in Bangkok, ayuttaya or Vietnam. It's actually set-up with shops along a man-made lake with facilities of a train or boat ride to take you round the place.

For me this is definitely a better place to visit than hua hin floating market.

“Artificial lake made for tourist...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

Artificial lake made for tourist... Its clear that it made for asian tourist meanly other Thai and Chineese, because all the shops are "hallo kitty", plastic, hongkong stuff.
I cannot recommend this to anyone, use the time elsewhere, because this was a waste of time.
