Normally one of the best Italian restaurants in Hua Hin located in the end of ”Hilton” Street in a 3 storey house. Third floor is outside with a view of Hua Hin fishing pier. The restaurant that has been around for many years is run by an Italian gentlemen, Mr. Claudio and his wife. We have been here many times and are normally very pleased with everything. But this night things were not as it normally is. We were seated outside on the third floor where there is a nice breeze, but the neighbor restaurant Da Mario also Italian have a wood fired pizza oven and this evening the smoke from there gave us a smoky breeze instead of a sea breeze from time to time.We ordered sparkling water (THB 180) and a glass of house Sangiovese Red wine (THB 190) together with this we were served grissini and some lightly toasted bread with and for the bread we were offered as always diced tomatoes and homemade liver pate. Always very appreciated and good. Himalayan pink salt (like sea salt) is on the table which is rather unusual in Thailand and is nice as it taste much better than regular salt If that is needed. My wife started with Nidi di prosciutto (THB 410) which is rolls of parma ham stuffed with a mascarpone cheese and strawberries in balsamic dressing. 3 pc was served on the plate and tasted excellent as always. My favorite appetizer here is the Vitello Tonnato (THB 330), thin slices of veal covered with a sauce made of Tuna fish and mayonnaise. But this evening the sauce was very blend in taste almost like the kitchen did forget to add mayo to it. For main my wife did choose the Sogliola alla mugnaia (THB 520) and asked for it to be cooked with tomato sauce instead of lemon. She is always pleased with this dish. I had Saltimbocca alla Romana (THB 660). This dish should be made with thin slices of veal and prosciutto di Parma cooked in butter and marsala wine. It looked very dry when it was served and the meat tasted very peculiar with a strong taste of liver, not to say that it was liver but something was sure very wrong. I could not eat the dish and it was taken back and also off from our bill, I was asked if I wanted something else. As time was getting late I declined the offer. Both Claudio and his wife came over and were very sorry for what had happened to my beloved Saltimbocca. For dessert we did share a Chocolate soufflé (THB 240) with vanilla ice cream. As always a very nice end to what normally is a nice meal. Limoncello was offered on the house. As my wife was driving she turned it down and for me I asked for a glass of Grappa instead which was served with a smile. Thanks again and we will be back and don’t worry about the food for the future they normally don’t fail to serve good tasting food.
