“What a Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Banyan recently. Unfortunately we only stayed 2 nights before heading to BKK, it was hard to leave. We could have lingered on for another couple of weeks. We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the friendliness of all the employees at the resort. They are attentive and very pleasant. The hotel villas are huge. The villa we stayed in was linked to a free form pool and we had our semi private Jacuzzi, the living area is large with a small kitchenette, large bedrooms all of them en suite. The Lemongrass restaurant served great food at affordable prices. We were surprised to find that the prices were reasonable in this resort, even for a decent glass of wine!!! What a gem! I can highly recommend this place to anyone going to Hua Hin and you don’t need to be a golfer to stay there.

This resort was incredible..the grounds were beautiful, the staff was attentive and friendly, the food was amazing. This was my favorite place to stay and play golf. Loved the nearby night markets and restaurants, exciting and not too crowded

I enjoyed the Banyon resort and golf theme. The bungalow style rooms and gated community made me feel entirely comfortable and secure. The garden type atmosphere and swimming pools that went throughout complex were amazing..My bungalo/room was clean and well appointed, elegant and spacious for me. The restaurants were terrific as well and the service was very good with the staff very polite and attentive. The hotel itself was in a good location and just a few minutes to the downtown area and various attractions and amenities. The golf course was just a few minutes away and is a terrific test of golf for both top players while not being to punishing for lesser skilled or recreational players. Upon arrival at the course the charming staff of Thai women caddies in bright matching caddie uniforms greats you and take your clubs while you are ushered into impressive clubhouse where you go to lockeroom and get locker and key and change shoes. After round a nice shower and fresh clothes and then to clubhouse and deck overlooking courses for terrific food and/or drinks while you go over round and talk about the good, bad and ugly shots. Nearby visited some temples that were quite interesting along with thousands of monkeys that roamed the streets and were quite tame and picturesque. A great place to play in a tropical climate and have a an exotic travel and golf experience that will be remembered fondly.

Room Tip: Not a problem they are all good.

This was our last stop on our trip and the best was truly saved for last. Great rooms, friendly, attentive staff (but they all are in Thailand, or so it seemed to me), and an excellent restaurant. My villa was incredible, immaculate and well appointed, I could easily live there and be happy for the rest of my life.
My only complaint is that it was unusually cool during our stay and I didn't get a chance to try the pool which winds through the complex. Oh well, next trip (and there will be a next trip as soon as humanly possible).

Room Tip: It doesn't get any better.

This is one amazing hotel, we visited with 2 other friends who live and work in Dubai so know a quality hotel when they see it, the Banyan Resort just blew us away.
The quality of the fittings and finish of the villa's really stood out, the effort of the houskeeping staff and gardening staff keeping everything in order, nothing was too much trouble.
The pool at the villa was fantastic, giving the impression of a lazy river complete with a built in jacuzzi for each of the villa's.
The layout of the site works well with the splash pool nearbye also a gym and spa area which our ladies put to good use.
All the staff we met were friendly and couldn't help enough.
The breakfasts were amazing, choice was fantastic part buffet part cooked to order, if you couldn't get something different here on a daily basis that you liked then you would have difficulty anywhere.
Our wives tried the cookery school which meant going to the market with the Chef to get the ingredients then preparing and cooking them. A brilliant day according to the ladies which came complete with sign certificate, Chef's apron and hat plus a cookbook with the recipies. A special thanks goes to Executive Chef Samran for arranging this course and has given our girls new interest in Thai cooking.
A further special mention goes to Olivier, Restuarant Manager who ensured everthing went well on a daily basis, he works very hard to ensure all the guests have a fantastic time.
All the staff work amazingly hard to ensure you enjoy yourself and all the front desk teamgave us a beautiful senf off when we left something I have never had anywhere else at a Hotel.
The golf course is also worth visiting and playing.
Banyan Resort, many thanks for a fantastic stay, I hope to get back for a further visit, you the reader shuld carefully consider this for a visit if you are in the area.

We are a family of two grown-ups and a 6 years old girl. We spent 9 nights in a Banyan Resort villa with "jacuzzi". We were accompanied with a similar family with a 5 year old boy. The resort arranged us to stay in two neigbouring villas, which was perfect for us.

In short, the Banyan Resort was a great experience, all of us really enjoyed our stay. The whole facility and its amenities is pretty much as their internet site says, and also the pictures give a correct view. One thing not mentioned is that the long pools are about 120 cm deep. The “jacuzzi” is actually a pocket in the long pool where you could sit down and turn the water streams on. There is also one knee-deep pool in the area for smaller kids.

As is always something to complain about, here is my list to get it over with. These are all minor issues and some of them we knew in advance:
- There are no restaurants or shops in the neighbourhood. Then again a taxi/tuk-tuk ride to Hua Hin center takes less than 10 min and costs 200 baht (5 EUR). Plus the hotel has a free shuttle bus.
- Also the beach is a little far away, but a shuttle runs there, too.
- The beds are hard. There is no pad (I mean the thin mattress) between the spring bed and the sheet.
- Weak warm water pressure in the showers.
- The terrace floor tiles are very slippery when wet.
- There are mosquitos after daylight, and some find their way inside.
- The free WLAN either works or not. Depends on the villa and where you sit.
- No hooks for hanging towels or wet swimwear in the bathroom.
- Sometimes it took till 5 PM before the towels were changed and the villa cleaned.
- In the morning of our last day, the pool cleaners were working at the pool with their hoses. We asked if it's ok to go to the water and they said no problem. However, after a while both kids were complaining about their eyes, and we told them to get out. Obviously the pool cleaners had thrown some chemical into the water. It would have been nice to warn us about it.

Now back to the positives.

When we arrived, we were really impressed about the villa. It was very spacious for the three of us; large living room, two bedrooms each with bathroom, a kitchen and a terrace. Well over 100 sqm, I would say (I think it said over 130 sqm in some sales brochure). And this was the cheapest option they had. For the price we paid (105 EUR/night incl breakfast), a bargain. Everything was new, no sign of wear anywhere.

In the back yard, there is a long, at least 50 m pool shared with a few other similar villas. It was just a few steps from the terrace. Compared to a hotel, this setup is very convenient in many ways. For example: you can use your own bathroom and fridge, if you forgot something, it is only a few steps away, no-one reserving the pool chairs with towels, no worries about your valuables. Also, you don’t need to chase the kids around the pool area - if not in the pool, they run around in the limited area between the pool and villas.

The resort-internal buggy transfers worked really well. When called, they always showed up at our door in a few minutes. And coming back from the “city”, they were always offering to take us to the villas. One night we had a private barbecue at the back yard. For about 100 EUR we got various sorts of seafood and meat sticks for 6 persons, grilled by a chef from the Lemongrass restaurant.

There are only two restaurants in the resort: the Lemongrass and the pool bar at the children’s pool. Both are actually very good, at least comparing to many of the Hua Hin dinner places we visited. Then there is the 19th hole bar with a pool table and a Nintendo Wii corner. Not much going on there. Actually, the whole resort seemed very quiet during the weekdays, but the weekends were busier.

In summary, I can warmly recommend this resort to families whose kids can manage the deep pool with or without swimming aid. It is also good for couples who want to enjoy some privacy. We played the associated golf course, and it is really nice. But if you like to go out and party a lot, this is not your place.

As a family this was our 7th visit Hua Hin and previously we had stayed at the Sofitel and the Hyatt. Due to the extortionate rates these hotels now charge we decided to try the Banyan Resort – personally, I will now never go anywhere else (your own villa for a fraction of the price and beautiful). From arriving to leaving everything was magical. It is difficult to decide what was best but the DIY BBQ in the evening was did it for me. We bought the booze and they supplied everything else (we could have opted for our own chef too but I wanted to cook). The location is also perfect with town only a five minute cab ride and the staff organising everything – we felt like royalty! And, top tip, the restaurant at the resort is by far the best value and near the best quality we had in Hua Hin this year – 400B for 3 course including a huge T-bone steak. Also the pool table during happy hour is better value that anywhere in town. Thank you to all there, we will be back next year.
