“Traditional style hotel with great service and foods”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

We stayed Dusit Thani Hua Hin for 4 nights with 2 kids. We usually stay another resort but it was booked out so this was first time to try Dusit and we chose it because of nice reviews on TA.

I booked via their online and I requested a few things like kid size bed, baby cot etc but there was mistake and we didn't get the room. However, the reception did best they can do to fix.

The room was bit old style and small and we were bit disappointed as our favourite has spacious modern resort room. Also all of us were bitten by mosquito so we needed to ask the hotel to do something.

Breakfast was great! Nice restaurant, great food especialy Thai foods and there were wide selection every morning. House keepers did great job every day and it was nice, clean room!

It's beautiful traditional hotel and their service was great. However, I felt this hotel might be more suitable for mature couple/ family than family with young children like us.

Dear momotarokawaii

Thank you for choosing Dusit Thani Hua Hin based on Trip Advisor reviews and for taking time to post your comments on Trip Advisor.

We are disappointed to learn that your requirements were not met at check in. Unfortunately, as we do not have sufficient personal information, we are unable to verify where the fault lies, but please accept our apologies, nevertheless, for a less than perfect first impression.

Our minimum room size is 36 square metres and we do agree that you might find the room quite cramped if an extra bed and cot is required.

We are heartened to learn that you were impressed overall by the breakfast, the wide variety of cuisine that is on offer at the resort, the hard work of the housekeeping team, alongside the gracious Thai hospitality and service for which Dusit is renowned. Your kind words are appreciated and have been personally passed on to all concerned as such compliments provide great motivation to continue doing a good job.

An extended rainy season followed by a cold snap has unfortunately provided an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes this year and the resort is actively trying to deal with these unwelcome visitors through daily spraying of both the grounds and rooms. We apologise for the inconvenience and though it is unlikely to be of much consolation to you now, the situation is improving.

Dusit Thani Hua Hin aims to reach out to visitors of all ages through a daily activity programme and extensive sports facilities to ensure an enjoyable and educational experience. Our DKiD provides a lounge where children from 5 years old have a dedicated area to play various games under the supervision of their parents and our staff.

In closing, we hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back to Dusit Thani Hua Hin on your next holiday in Hua Hin.

Warmest regards

Having recently returned from our 8 night stay we can only praise and recommend this wonderful hotel. The level of service and quality of the hotel was excellent! Our room was just as expected - took others recommendations and asked for 7th floor overlooking the sea and pool which is what we had - fab bed linen and pillows (10 choices actually!) large room balcony air-con and toiletries were WONDERFUL .....some have had to find their way back to the UK with me! Big fluffy towels, huge beach towels provided in the room. The minibus takes you into town without any problem or worries and returns hourly right through till 10.30pm. Fantastic walking along the beach - which by the way is immediately out of the pool area (you can have your sun lounger and brolly on the beach if you wish) - we did see about 6 jelly fish in total over 8 days, but they caused no worries of problem all of these were ones washed onto the shore when the tide went out....and as they are quite big you would easily spot one in the water itself.....according to the time of year WILL make the tides variable so can see it MIGHT just be the case when you go there is little beach however we saw huge beaches of lovely sand and it was possible to walk daily in both directions should you want to.....would deff go again we loved every minute of our stay and the area!

Room Tip: request 6th or 7th floor facing the pool - you then get sea views and sun virtually all day on your...

Dear MrandMrsRVB

We are glad that you had a great time staying at Dusit Thani Hua Hin.

Our rooms offer either partial or full sea view with some rooms on higher floors overlooking the lily pond, main swimming pool, children’s pool and the beach. As there is no road access to our beach, our guests have exclusive use of the beach.

At Dusit Thani, the comfort and safety of our guests are our top priority. Our Pillow Menu offers 10 luxurious pillow choices to suit each individual guest’s preference, from natural rubber, buckwheat, to orthopedic memory foam.

We are pleased that you enjoyed the beach walk and you were not worried about the jelly fish which as you have indicated, is prevalent during certain time of the year.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Dusit Thani Hua Hin in the not too distant future.

Thanks & regards.

Dear fattyboy8

We are pleased that you have chosen Dusit Thani Hua Hin for your break to recharge your battery.

Our rooms have either partial or full seaview with Lanai Rooms on the ground floor having direct access to the 50-meter Olympic sized Main Pool and the saltwater Garden Pool. The Club Suite has a separate living area with a small pantry, and it can be connected to a Club Room. With four restaurants and three bars, guests have a great selection of different cuisine ranging from Asian, Thai to Italian.

At Dusit Thani, our staff strives very hard to extend a friendly yet professional service to our guests.

We hope you will be back with us soon.

Thanks & regards.

We booked 3 superior rooms during our stay here on New Year's Eve. I think it was the best place to be at during that holiday. They had a New Year's Eve gala which was NOT mandatory so this was a big plus for me. I don't understand why most hotels make it mandatory for guests to attend a gala if you're going to stay there during a holiday so I was glad we had the option not to attend it at Dusit Thani. We still had dinner at their Italian restaurant which was ok. That night however they had one of the best fireworks show I've ever seen from a hotel. I was so glad to stay up because it was just spectacular! I didn't see the other hotels on the beachside have as great of a fireworks show as Dusit Thani so that made it worthwhile for me. The actual hotel itself is on the older side, but it is clean and maintained well. The beds are decent and the bathroom is adequate. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is great especially for the kids. They do have a poolside massage that you can get which was really excellent and a great price! I highly recommend it. The view of the pool and trees at night is just gorgeous. The staff are very pleasant and always helpful! Overall it was a good stay and a great place to get away from the stress of the city.

Dear kmbperdon

We are pleased that you have chosen to welcome the New Year at Dusit Thani Hua Hin. Apart from the spectacular fireworks display, our New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner is traditionally the ‘talk of the town’ with live entertainment, prizes to be won with the main prize being two air tickets to Europe via Etihad Airways, and a Thai cultural show on the lagoon.

The resort is located on expansive grounds boasting three swimming pools: a 50-metre Olympic sized Main Pool, a saltwater Garden Pool and a children’s pool. There is the option of poolside massage by the Garden Pool or for total relaxation and indulgence, there is Deverana Spa.

At Dusit Thani, our staff worked very hard to provide a warm, friendly and professional service to all our guests making Dusit their ‘Home away from Home’. You have certainly made the right choice to chill out and recharge your battery at our resort.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

Thanks & regards.

The Dusit Thani Hua Hin is actually a 30-minute drive from the Hua Hin town centre and is actually located in Cha-Am district, not Hua Hin. This makes it quiet distant and a bit inconvenient.

The hotel has reasonable accommodation. I stayed in the second-best room available, the Lanai Suite, it had a traditional homely Thai style. However, the accommodation lacked functionality, especially in the sense the study desk had very poor lighting. Although luxurious, the bathroom was painful to the eyes and there were hairs on the floor. The bed mattress is overly soft, and the bathroom water pressure is low. The hotel is very dated and many fittings are not maintained very well. Regardless, the Lanai Suite is quite a nice option with two large terraces on ground level, one with full-size deck chairs and facing out to the beach, the bedroom too has an almost-direct view of the sea.

I have stayed in Thailand countless times, and must say he food served in the main restaurant and the specialty Italian restaurant is not good. The majority of menu choices lack any recognizable flavour and are all bit bland. Although it is understandable that the Western options need not be of high quality since it is in Thailand, the Thai food was also no good. The service is OK. A dinner for two would typically cost you the equivalent of US$110, not bad but the food is not good. The breakfast is quite unpleasant and many choices have a surprise of intense spiciness; there is limited variety in likeable dishes.

As I stayed in a suite, I had access to the Dusit Club Lounge, which I had to say serves some of the best food in the hotel, not that this is anything to note. Unlike most other hotels, breakfast is not served in the lounge. At hors d'oeuvres hours the lounge serves sweet pastries and cakes as well as some Asian twist take on odeurves that are not very famous.

The hotel grounds are relatively nice and the hotel occupies a large and spacious land plot that boasts many garden areas. The hotel's location means for that their is a continual strong breeze that proves quite pleasant. This also prevents insect bites, and is my favorite part of the hotel, different from most other resort hotels I have visited across Thailand.

The pool facilities are quite good and there are separate adults’ and children's pools. The resort has beach access, however, the beach in Hua Hina and Cha-Am is not too nice. The sand-front is thin and at high tide the beach is inaccessible. Despite this, the beach is very empty most of the time (I even visited in Christmas) and you are almost always alone as far as the eye can see

All in all, the Dusit Thani Hua Hin is fairly average, and if you are not continually dependent on five-star luxury will feel comfortable in this hotel. The hotel has good resort facilities and large garden spaces that one may enjoy to walk through. The design of the hotel is quite dated and the food is poor. I do not particularly recommend this hotel, but it is an OK choice.

Dear 6starluxurytraveller,

Thank you for choosing Dusit Thani Hua Hin for your Christmas holiday and subsequently taking the time to subjectively review your experience.

You are correct that the hotel is located in Cha-am District. However, it is in fact 17 kilometres from the centre of Cha-am and only 10 kilometres from central Hua Hin. Our hourly bus service to Hua Hin is usually able to reach its destination in 15 minutes or less. We can only apologise if your journey to Hua Hin took 30 minutes and speculate that it may have been due either to a Thai holiday or an unavoidable traffic hold-up.

We are glad that you enjoyed our luxurious ground-floor Lanai Suite, though sorry that you found the mattress less than comfortable. Like pillows, for which we do actually have a menu of different kinds, mattress preference is a subjective issue and we do encourage our room maids to interact with guests to find if everything is to their liking so that we can try to rectify anything that is not. It appears that this may not have happened - sometimes the maids fear the language barrier, I’m afraid – and again we apologise if it did not.

It is disappointing to learn that our cleaning of your bathroom floor was substandard and housekeeping team has been reminded of the levels of cleanliness that guests are entitled to expect.

Your kind words regarding our Club Lounge on the top floor are appreciated and it is pleasing to hear that you found the food here to your taste. Your comments have been passed to our chef and his team, together with your subjective thoughts on the taste of food in other areas of the hotel.

The outdoor areas are one of the resort’s focal points and we are delighted that you enjoyed both the spacious grounds and pools to the full. You are correct that the condition of the beach along the coast between Cha-am and Hua Hin is regrettably in less than pristine condition at present. The extended rainy season at the end of 2013 eroded much of the sand and we are currently working hard together with Mother Nature to restore it to the condition which has won us awards in the past.

Dusit Thani Hua Hin is now in its 24th year and we do acknowledge that like all of us, the resort is battling the march of time. We do have an ongoing renovation programme, but given the size of the property, it is a difficult process to keep upgrading discreet whilst causing minimal inconvenience to the guests.

Dear 6starluxurytraveller, we thank you for posting your photographs of the hotel together with your review and are pleased that you found plenty of subject matter to indulge your interest during your visit.

We hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to Dusit Thani Hua Hin at some future time.

Thanks & regards

our visit in jan 2014 was outstanding /it does have a workable beach for walks etc/ the shuttle service to hua hin town works well/you only need a half day shopping in hua hin and you have done waht you need to do , so being away from the city at the DUSIT THANI [FURTHER DOWN THE COASTLINE ] is no problem at all,its also a 1 km shuttle drive to the export factory outlet shop and well worth a visit, the thai restaurant at the DUSIT THANI compares very much with the same prices in cape town althougt the ITALIAN restaurant is a bit costly compared to good ITALIAN restaurents in cape town.....staff are outstanding and friendly , well disciplined and speak good English...we give the DUSIT THANI a sincere 10/10 and will definitely be back ..the massage/sauna service simply world class ..this hotel is a great mix of 30 to 60 year olds , and it gices of a young vibe but please to note activities are more daytime orientated than night time , with the main nightime activities beling barbeque dinners and jazz singers in the bar [this could be considered a bit limiting by younger 20 year olds etc , because their are no night clubs as such ..its a resort for total relaxation and earns 10 out of 10 without any doubt...]

Dear Dennis H

Thank you for choosing to stay at Dusit Thani Hua Hin for your holiday. We are appreciative of your kind comments and we will certainly share them with our team.

There are several shopping complexes and factory outlets that are within close proximity to Dusit Thani Hua Hin. Venezia, being the newest, is a complex modelled on Venice in Italy providing over 300 outlets for shopping, restaurants, cafes and bars and Gondolo ride.

At Dusit Thani, we provide a wide range of recreational activities throughout the day for both young and old. There are four restaurants offering international, Asian, Thai and Italian cuisine. Live entertainment is provided at the Polo Bar and the pianist performs nightly at the lobby.

For relaxation and indulgence, Deverana Spa is a real heaven for spa lovers.

We hope we would have the pleasure of welcoming you back soon.

Thanks & regards.

again and again we visit Thailand to see our Family and friends. We allways try to stay in Hotels from Dusit. The Hotel itself is liittle bit older, but everything is well maintained and and the Food and the Service are very good. It's the charm which gives this Hotel a very Special note, excellent Managment. Great staff. We stayed in a newly renovated room in 4th floor. Wonderful big Swimming pool to relax, no crowds, and thank you - no People asking you allways to participate in any activities. Maybe you Need a car to explore the area which has nice things to discover such as Dschungel and NP's - but be careful of malaria and Dengue fever. In Nov 2013 it was still serious - like elswhere in SE Asia - so we preferred to stay in the nice Hotels at the sea shore.

Dear reppi

Thank you for your kind words. We are delighted that Dusit Thani Hua Hin continues to deliver good and friendly service to entice your return to Hua Hin. We shall certainly pass on your comments to our team.

Apart from having a chauffeur driven limousine, the resort offers a shuttle service which departs on the hour from the resort to Hua Hin town from 10.00a to 10.00p, and the return journey is on the half hour from 10.30a to 10.30p. At 50 Baht per person per trip, most guests found this service a convenient and economical way of exploring Hua Hin town.

Hua Hin is not an area affected by malaria which is predominantly found in jungles bordering some neighbouring countries.

We trust we will have the pleasure of having you back in the not too distant future again.

Thanks & regards.
