We picked this place based on the resoundingly positive reviews we read here, and having stayed for just over a week, felt compelled to write a positive review of this great resort.
Firstly, we were not looking for somewhere to party hard, or do anything more productive than unwind, but were so happy that we came here.
Our arrival at bangkok airport was uneventful and the transfers arranged by trailfinders were great. About 2hrs from Bangkok by car, which we slept through!
The resort itself is just outside Hua Hin. This town is not great, although there are plenty of nice and very cheap restaurants to choose from. If you like seafood you will be in heaven, if not (as with one of us) there is still a lot of nice food to be had at prices which do not compare to the uk or europe. There is a complimentary shuttle service in the evenings from the hotel to the centre of the town.
More importantly, the resort has to be seen to be believed. Perfectly clean, beautiful accommodations (we stayed in a pool villa but all looked great), great facilities and welcoming staff.
They have a lovely pool, in fact 2 great pools, although no one seemed to use the one away from the beach. There is a large section of shallow water for kids, then an approximately 25m pool for adults and more adventurous kids. There are lovely loungers and sofas all round the pool area which are immaculate.
The resort itself is raised from the beach, and the sea comes right up to the wall at high tide, which means the beach at low tide is beautiful but there are no bars etc.
Between beach and pool is an area Of sand with loungers and suspended beds which is lovely. This is not a true beach, so if you are set on that, don't expect it. Despite that there are palms, sand, showers and a "beach" bar which is great.
There are a number of restaurants in the resort, mainly in the central poolside building.
Breakfast is included and includes the standard European fare as well as Thai food to boot. All is lovely and we enjoyed it every day.
The lunch and dinner menus are also lovely with a great mix of Thai and European dishes to choose from. Prices are a fraction of those in the UK and around £5 for a main nothing cost more than £7.50. The food is fresh, tasty and beautifully served.
The main thing about his holiday which made it stand out for us was the staff. They are warm, friendly, courteous and polite. Occasionally overly! We were expecting a child during this stay and the levels of consideration displayed by all members of the staff were astounding, putting British standards to shame.
This is not a place to come if you want adventure sports, to see Bangkok or to be completely isolated, but for a beautiful, relaxing, luxurious holiday at a relatively low price, I think this is hard to beat. You could not leave this resort without longing to come back, and I would highly recommend this to any couple with or without a young family as the ideal place to forget about your busy lives back in Blighty! Book and enjoy!
