“The best?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

We just read that this was voted the best night market in Thailand and while we are no experts, did not find it outstanding and feel that there is better to e found in Bankok.

“Almost too much, almost”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

A place you can wander round and see the wonderful sights and sounds of real life. The scents are heavenly, and the food is simply astounding. I recommend following your nose, and heading to the grilled meat sections. Some of it is quite hard to recognize, but it is all delicious.
The array of goods is also mind blowing, and you are almost certain to find a souvenir or two if that is your thing.

“A Great Walk and Snack”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Thailand strret food is great and you can find it everywhere. Yes, Khao San Rd and the Sukhumvit areas in Bangkok have some interesting street food and Chiang Mai Night Market has probably the best street food in Thailand, however Chiang Rai Night Market can still offer something different. If you look closely, the Northern food on offer up here is quite different and even the traditional dishes are cooked using more local spices. So my advice is to skip lunch, wait for the sun to go down, and then slowly walk around the night market having a small snack from numerous stalls. It really can be a taste sensation :)

“Plenty of cheap food around”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

Accidentally found the Night Bazaar. Basically, i didn't take a map with me and decided to wander around until I found something interesting.

Wasn't too keen on shopping and went straight to the food area.

There were live performance after 8 or 9pm. Choices were good but you can narrow down the choices to these - hot pot, fried items, japanese food, seafood, and drinks. Didn't see a whole lot of differences among them.

I didn't do any shopping in the area so can't comment on the prices.

Picked a hotpot joint named "Boom Boom" that's on the NE corner (assuming you face the stage) of the main food area.. Picked the place just for the heck of it.

BTW, bring small change in case you need to use the restroom.

Bought a couple of mango smoothies and a dish of fried veggie/shrimp.

Total damage, 140 bahts
