“I love the Thai night markets!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Many spots in Thailand have night markets and they are always an experience....I feel totally safe wandering around by myself and it is a great place to find inexpensive souvenirs for friends back home. The concept of the night market is very appealing because I like to see the temples and other attractions during the day, and then do my shopping at night....it allows you to pack more into your visit when you can shop until midnight!

“A fun way to spend a few hours and explore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

The market can be as much or as little as you want. Easily spend and hour or several. I noticed a younger crowd here than most markets. Plenty to see, eat and do. Be adventitious and try something new

“Choose from 50 food stalls”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

most of it is greasy fried stuff, like Chicken Tendons (whatever those are), but we had an excellent Hot Pot from Hiro, they asked us whether we wanted it spicey or not and we did. Out came a bubbling clay pot on a charcoal fire stand with vegetable soup in it, in it we threw porkm chicken an egg and mountains of veggies. Scrummy! The little ones loved in and so did we, though sorry to say, we shared a Burrito from Kae's excellent Mexican Food stall too. Washed down with a big bottle of beer before the live entertainment started on the stage. The beer helps appreciation of the entertainment which mostly seems to be school groups miming and dancing.

This is a "not to miss" activity!

“Good If You Like Souveniers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

It isn't a "real market" It is just a place for tourists to go buy stuff. We left there and went to "Happy Street", a Sunday Night local market. Much more fun and local feeling.

“Nice little market, go for the atmosphere not for bargains”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

There did not seem to be much in Chiang Rai, as far as attractions are concerned. The main draw was the small "night market". It is a pleasant, open environment, with many shops and stalls located around a sort of square, which hosts an eating area. Shows and concerts are organised in the evening, improving the dining atmosphere.

The second area, next to the main entrance, seems devoted more to the local crowd, with more food stalls and Thai entertainers. The quality of goods for sale is average, so visit more for the atmosphere than to find bargains.
