Stayed here with SmarTours. The grounds and pool are lovely. The pool is unheated, so its only comfortable if the weather is hot enough.

We were put in Bldg 5 which was a good walk from the lobby, breakfast room, pool, etc. Not a problem for us, but not everyone appreciated the long trek to their room. The hotel has a pretty spread out layout, so you're likely to have a bit of a walk wherever your room is.

The rooms are simple with tile floors and inexpensive looking furnishings. The room reminded me of moderate beach hotels I'd stayed at in Mexico. The breakfast buffet is ok and very busy with tour groups.

The hotel is located a 10 minute drive to town and the night market. The hotel provides a shuttle during the evening that has a moderate charge or you can arrange a taxi or tuk tuk.

If you're looking for relaxation and pool time, this hotel could be a good choice. If you're looking for a place to sleep between visits to the Golden Triangle and the Night Market, you might want to consider something closer to downtown.

We stayed at the Rim Kok for two nights only and we are thankful. This hotel is to be avoided if possible. While the grounds at the entrance and the lobby area are very nice, the rooms are worn out. The first room they tried to put us in was in section 6, about a 15 minute walk from the reception, restaurant and pool area. After walking for about 10 minutes, we turned back and requested a room closer to the centre. We went to section 2, right at the end. On our way we noticed some room had been renovated with nice tile floor and bright paint. Opening the door to our assigned room, we saw torn carpet, dark room, dirty walls. I went back to reception and was told the hotel was completely full and we had to take that room. When our guide returned, we told him the story. He went to the desk and we were shown another room – but it was worse as it smelled. The porter told us to ask the desk to change rooms in the morning for a newly renovated one. Our guide did and we were moved to a renovated room the next day. This room was fine.

But we would not recommend this hotel. It was a major disappointment in spite of its nice grounds. It is far from the city. If you can be guaranteed a newly renovated room then the hotel would be fine. But given the indifference of the reception staff (probably due to the numerous complaints) this would be a chance to take. Our guide mentioned to us later that he routinely receives many complaints about the hotel. He mentioned a better one across the river. So try another hotel – there are many around the city.

It is true that the surroundings and the exterior raises the expectation you have on the room - these may not be entirely fulfilled...
We spent 2 nights here on a group trip around the north of Thailand and the room was one of the smallest during the tour and especially the bathtub had certainly seen better days. But our room was clean, and had a nice garden view.

As luck would have it, right across the river Kok is the main festival area for the annual Loy Krathong celebration - don't miss it if you happen to be there at fullmoon in november.

The riverview and the pool area are the hotel's main assets, the carpet on the way to the breakfast room is certainly not.

We'd stay there again, though probably not for weeks!

The hotel is situated on a beautiful piece of land right on the river where you are able to watch daily Thai life. The pool is beautiful. We enjoyed having a drink and listening to the lounge singers that do Elvis Imitations. The lobby piano player moonlights as a taxi driver. Though the hotel is very remote and quiet, it is very easy to hire a driver for the day and tour the surrounding countryside such as Doi Tung, Chiang Sean, and Mah Fah Gardens.
